Angry Birds Space is a fresh new take on the angry birds series, and it is definately a must buy. hHere are the pros and cons:
Pros: included gravitational pull in space sometimes very challenging to get 3 stars. new birds with new special abilities incredibly creative idea to add gravitational pull in certain areas, thus making this game feel new and fresh.
the cons: easy game to beat if you're not going for 3 stars on every level sometimes on the kindle fire the slingshot is at the end of the tablet and when you try to pull it back it doesn't get full power. very short, not enough levels now. ---------------------
these cons however can be easily patched in the next update, which is why I think Angry Birds Space is worth the 3 dollars. it is an incredible game that the whole family can enjoy!
I got this for my Kindle when it first came out. It's definitely a worthy addition to the Angry Birds family of games. The "space physics" of gravity and inertia are integrated quite well, and the new abilities of the birds were quite fun.
My only gripe is that it was over much too quickly. I was able to get three stars on all the levels -- plus all the golden asteroids -- in just a few days, playing it only at night before going to bed.
Still, when you think about it, $3 for a few days of fun is not a bad deal at all. And it looks like there may be more levels coming in the future.
Bottom line: If you like Angry Birds on your Kindle, you're likely to enjoy this one too.
EDIT: Okay, now that more episodes have been released, this one's got plenty of length to it. Very fun stuff.
The game is pretty good and the HD version unlocks all the worlds I believe; but I still think it's dumb that even buying a small amount of powerups can cost more than the actual game.
this game sucks I got it came out on the same date as COMICON. so I was walking down the rows of booths of cool action figures and collectibles comic books while I was rocking my SWEET forest elf stume (COSTUME for those lame losers who don't attend comicon yearly and don't know the cool comicon slingo) . so as I strutted at exactly 2.0 miles per hour, not 1.9, not 2.1, 2.0!!! he came out of nowhere DONALD his Stume was far superior to mine. everything was getting blurry the room was spinning, Donald was doing his diabolical laugh. but the battle wasn't over for "I HAD MY SATCHEL FILLED WITH A POTIONS"! so as I reached for my smoke bomb potion when suddenly chippy the squirm came fatted on me, ripped my thong, and threw nuts at me. I lost the comicon L.A.R.P. tournament that day..... to Donald. and it was the same day as this lame angry birds space, and although I am a fan of science fiction it had many errors of astro phisics that bother me greatly. so.......uhm ................ LAME!!!
My nephew loved this game till we realized that certain planets on the board cost money to open up. Seeing how the game itself costs me $2.99 I foulnd this to be a bit of an overkill, thank you George Lucas. I'm still on the first planet since I've been lettinga 5 year old play it mainly and he truly loves the game. Each "bird" has special abilities which adds ease (and sometimes difficulty) to the game. I'll be honest I'm not familiar with Stars Wars, the only on I ever watched was the original first one released but I do find the game fun. I just don't like that it cost money for some planets to open up (I know of one, I'm not sure if there are more) and that you can buy things on it. Definetly different from all the other Angry Birds I've purchased (for free with adds). So I guess it's worth it but just beware that you may end up spending more money than the intial cost.
I read an article earlier this week that said the creators of Angry Birds hope to rival Disney and plan on opening an Angry Birds Theme Park -- as skeptical as I was, if Angry Birds Space is the kind of creativity that is going to keep coming from Rovio, I have no doubt in my mind they will reach their goal.
Right off the bat, the graphics are bright, vibrant and capture the essence of space so well -- the beaming asteroids, the distant planets and galaxies, the undeniable feeling of being alone. The music pulled me right in as well, featuring futuristic sounds and soft, eerie music that set the tone for the rest of the game.
There are three worlds currently: Pig Bang (30 Levels), Cold Cuts (15 Levels) and Eggsteroid (15 levels). You may ask, what is so unique about this game from the others? Quite a bit actually. You now operate with gravitational orbs that spin the angry bird around in an orbit. Angling the bird to orbit in a certain path to destroy the pigs is the trick. As you progress, multiple gravitational orbs connect in sort of a chain Venn Diagram. Additionally, there are certain levels where the player must launch the bird OUT of the gravitational orb (into space where the orbit no longer affects the bird and it rises due to no gravity) and back in (granted, I have only played the first world and cannot comment on the others). These new elements bring a game that does not feel like fancy update to a franchise already with a large fanbase, but rather feels like an actual sequel, a worthy successor to Rio. If this is the type of creativity still present within the minds over at Rovio, I'd venture to say that Angry Birds is in it for the long haul.
The Angry Birds franchise rapidly expanded into an ubiquitous phenomenon. After a few sequels, it was only a matter of time before they ended up in space. This is my starting point to the franchise, but the core gameplay remains the same. You have a queue of various types of birds, and must launch them via a slingshot to defeat the pigs.
Since the theme is space, you may have to take into account the gravitational pull of the planets which will alter your trajectory. There's a massive amount of variety between the many worlds, and so there is plenty of things to take into account. It's important to get a good view of the level and plan your strategy. You may have to use some birds to clear a path through the obstacles before you can begin to eradicate the pigs. You may intentionally hit asteroids to send them towards the pigs, or take advantage of the explosive crates. There's one world that features water, so your trajectory will change as you get pulled in by the gravity of the planet, only to have your trajectory altered once more by the water. It's quite the spectacle seeing your bird bend around an obstacle, go skimming across the water's surface, and ploughing into a pig for the kill.
The other important thing to take into account is the birds you have available and their set order. The red bird is the basic one and has no special ability, a blue bird splits into 3 weaker birds when you tap, purple homes into your destination when you tap, one that expands in size, one that explodes, one freezes the surrounding area when you tap, and one that's slow but powerful. You also have some other special birds which are what the game sells you in micro-transactions.
The difficulty is quite mixed. Some levels are pretty straight-forward, whereas other ones are very tough to do. Even when you think you have the perfect plan, sometimes it takes a few attempts to actually pull it off. It makes sense to use the special birds in this scenario, but I always tried to do without, even though I had several free ones available.
The amount of content you get for free in this game is really impressive, and it kept me entertained for hours. Since you are given a star rating, you have the incentive to go back and try and improve your rating (or score). I found the scoring system hard to understand though; sometimes I cleared the stage and got significantly fewer points than when I cleared it using two or three birds.
