This story is cute and has nice graphics. My girls enjoyed it very much. I like that it had a few activity modes but wish they were a bit more developed, there were 2 games and they were very simple and even my 3 yr old was done in min. I wish it was a little bit more involved so I can keep the kids a little more pre-occupied but over all they kids loved it and I like it too, especially the part at the end that asked you questions about what you read.
This is a really cute app that is a combination of a story and a game. You can choose to read it to your child like you would a regular book and your child can participate by touching different items on each page and finding out what little surprise they hold (a wiggle, a noise, etc).
Or you can set it to read to your child, who can still participate in the same way as before.
Or they can just play the little games found throughout the story. Whichever you and they choose, it will keep them entertained for a solid 15 minutes, maybe more. I'd recommend this app to children ages 2 and up. I took off one star because it is slow to load and force closed on me twice. I'm using a Google Nexus 7 tablet so your experience might be a bit different.
This is the way I wish all children's ebooks were created. I started out having it read to me and before you turn the page you can touch all objects on page for interaction and response noises. If you select book only on the menu screen it turns off this feature and is only a book you or your child read. ( good for a child learning to read no distractions) Or you can have read and play. You read it and the interactions are on plus you have two games during the story. Use your menu screen to find more fun. Coloring pages videos and games that were in the story. (one video had minor issues) I would gladly pay for this app and recommend it. Even my 6 yr old will probably enjoy this so I think the age limit range is great. Enjoy ....Florida Mom
It's a great idea and the story is good enough, but the whole thing takes about five minutes and then that's it. My kids liked it a lot, it just didn't last very long.
Most games my kids like they will play for a few minutes a day during down time. This game they played one time for five minutes and haven't asked about again.
If I could get five or ten stories like this for 1.99 that would be a fair price IMO.
As of the last update, this app wants to add permissions for the following:
- Modify or delete the contents of your USB storage - view network connections - view Wi-Fi connections - test access to protected storage
..that's in addition to the existing permissions:
- read phone status and identity - disable lock screen - full network access - prevent tablet from sleeping
The original permissions seem logical, but the new ones are curious. For a children's app, it uses many permissions that a lot of heavy duty apps don't use. Sorry, but this is one app that is going to get deleted.
I got this as the free app of the day today from Amazon.com.
This is an OK child friendly app. But like the title of my review suggests, I do not agree with the majority of the 5 star reviews. To give this app a 5 star review is not fair to those apps that are 5 star quality since this is not a 5 star quality app.
The reasons I would say that this is not a 5 star app are the following:
1. There are only 3 coloring pages.
2. The 2 minigames are so simple and short. They last about a minute each if even that long.
3. For only having 3 coloring pages and 2 extremely short games, being over 60 Megs in App Space is totally unacceptable.
So for those 3 reasons alone, this app should not be given a 5 star review in my opinion. With the lack of lengthy interactive activities and the large space taken on your device, there are just as good or better options than this that would be more worthy of 5 star reviews.
I am sorry to the 5 star reviewers who might be offended by my review, just trying to make a valid honest point here.
This is the most well-done picture book app I've tried, yet. You can read it like a picture book, read it where you can touch stuff for a response, or both with a narrator reading it to you. There are also two nice videos, some well-done coloring pages and stuff like that. There are a couple games, but you encounter those in the interactive mode.
The picture book itself is good, and for that alone, I'd say it's a fair deal, especially considering the price of digital picture books that aren't as quality as this.
This app exceeded my expectations, which is nice, since my nephew is a fan of Wubzy. He'll probably try it out tomorrow when I show it to him.
This is a fantastic app! I is like an interactive storybook with a 'read to me' function, a 'read it myself' function and games/coloring pages. There are many different items on each of the pages that make funny sounds or sayings when the child touches them, and goes along with the episode on tv very well. My child loves the games and the coloring pages very much. This app is a hit in this house!
