It works exactly as it said. It was a no frills app but it helped me move my pictures from my Thunderbolt phone to my computer.
Phone must be on wi-fi. On phone I selected my pictures and the app issued me a random url address. On computer I went to the given url and downloaded the zip file of pictures. Took seconds and bam! the pictures were in the file I selected to download them to on my computer.
I know there are many other ways to transfer photos and maybe some are better but this review is for this app only. It did what it promised. It was fast. It was free. Try it out.
i bought this item on amazon as it was a bit cheaper than going through the google play store. i had the free version which worked great but it only allowed you to download 100 photos. i wanted to download over 400 from my phone so i uninstsalled the free version and installed the paid version. now i get an error message every time i open the app and although it recognizes my device on the desktop, it will not load all my pics and basically it is useless. I also get a message on my phone saying i do not own this app, of which i just bought. I have emailed the developers support dept and waiting for a reply
It does exactly what it says it will do, and is pretty simple. I think the strength is device to device transfer, which is very straightforward. I happened to have bought the iOS version of this awhile back to try to do photo transfer between my iPad and my computer but hadn't played with it. PC to device is just about as clean.
You can transfer from computer (PC or Mac, it's web-based on a computer) to a device or from device to device. The computer and/or devices must be on the same WiFi network. There's also a means for bluetooth transfer, though that of course doesn't apply to the Fire.
Photos transferred to the Fire are placed in a folder called "PhotoTransfer" and are viewable through the Gallery app on the Fire.
I think I'll actually use this a fair bit as I have photos on my iPad, my iPod Touch and very few on the Fire, but would like some on the Fire.
great app for copying photos and videos from one device to another. This app finally got me motivated to move over 400 photos and videos off of phone to computer. Will also be using it to move pics and videos between our different phones in our family.
Tips: 1. Make sure both the sending device and the receiving device are using the SAME wireless connection. 2. photo download can be zipped with a push if a button and downloaded quickly. 3. When unzipping the photos, 7-Zip did not work ... but using Windows Explorer worked great. Note: right click zip file folder, choose Open with Windows Explorer. when new window opens up, choose the files in the window, and press "Extract all files"...and choose where to extract them to...press extract. 4. Download videos one at a time. 5. Be sure to delete photos and videos off phone memory card.
Enhancement I would like to see is being able to zip videos as well.
To the developers, thank you for such a useful app.
Yes, Yes, Dropbox is nice, but it doesn't work for my Kindle Fire, and until I can tranfer photos through the amazon cloud, this is my go to app. This works great for transfering photos from tablet to phone, phone to computer, and vice versa. Yes, you can plug your Fire in to the computer to transfer photos, but this is just easier without the wire, and it is a super quick transfer. A quick and easy app that I didn't mind paying for. Does exactly what it is supposed to, without any problems.
The reader should note that I had NOT actually used this app to transfer any files. If you want to read a review telling you how to use this app & how does it fare, you can stop reading any further.
I simply see no reason why I should use, least of all purchase, a transfer app that works only with photos and videos. There are apps that let you transfer *any* file for free such as AirDroid & ES Explorer. They don't require you to install anything on your Windows desktop, they let you transfer between Android devices under the same Wi-Fi network, and - since I had used them - I can tell you they work very well. If your Android device isn't a few years old, it probably has Wi-Fi Direct too; that also allows you to transfer files wirelessly without having to install a dedicated transfer app.
I looked at its Send to Windows function and used its web browser method of connection which connected fine (no big deal at all), but was dismayed to find that I had to switch back to my phone to select the photos & videos. That is not security, that is just a hassle. And It won't let me see or select other types of files.
Under the hood this app seems clean enough. I see it contains code for Mobiroo, and Mobiroo is kind of like a rental service, like Netflix, that allows you to download paid apps based on a monthly fee; however, once you stop subscribing your installed paid apps will not run. I have always had my reservations about such services (for software only, not Netflix), and have no idea why a paid app is including this, but in my short examination I have not seen it inside the app. It also seems to exit cleanly (after a while), so people who are concerned about security issues with a persistently running server could put their minds at ease somewhat.
I am OK with paying $1.99 for a robust file transfer app (although apps like Wi-Fi File Explorer can be had for just a dollar) but, due to Photo Transfer App's limited scope, I simply cannot give it 5 stars because I know there are more capable alternatives available.
I have no idea how this app works because when I try to install and download the app it told me to on my iMac I was unable to transfer an app that would allow my computer to transfer photos to my new phone. I spent several hours trying to do this and it kept telling me that I could transfer photos from my new Android to my computer which is the opposite of what I wanted to do. I feel ripped off even though it was only a dollar 99
