This magazine is a must for the modern or Mid-Century modern enthusiast. Filled with inspiration and beautiful pictures. AND it lets other MCM heads know you're a connoisseur just seeing it in your hand or on your table! A showpiece of sorts, ha ha!

    Reasonably priced subscription, too!

I've been subscribed to Dwell for a few years now and love this magazine. It always has a few wonderful feature articles and great photos. Dwell has a good balance between content and ads, but the ads they do have also highlight great design and are interesting in themselves. I am a former architecture student, but I do think that anyone who has an affinity for architecture, interior design, or furniture would thoroughly enjoy this one. I also like that the spaces they feature have a wide range of styles, sizes, and locations. In various issues I've seen all types of styles including: contemporary, mid-century, coastal, eclectic, lofts, pre-fab design, and renovations. But for the most part one thing they all have in common is good design. I'd highly recommend this one and don't see myself unsubscribing anytime soon!

I am an interiors architect, I appreciate the diversity, breadth and depth of the articles. Their commitment to high quality, not high budget, residential and product design keeps their magazine on the top of my "must read" periodical reading pile. Although my focus is not residential design this magazine continues to be a source of inspiration. They have truly raised the bar for residential design, bar none!

Lovely, interesting magazine. I’m trying to develop more appreciation for design. In the book by Daniel Pink, A WHOLE NEW MIND, he recommends it as a right brain stimulation. Agreed.

Dwell is probably my favorite go-to for contemporary interior design inspiration. I'm the principle for a floor covering wholesaler/designer/manufacturing company and Dwell has been a wonderful inspiration for our design department. As one could imagine, Dwell is visually captivating with beautiful full spread pictures with thoughtful editorial. One thing that I particularly love about Dwell is that the writers really dig deep into the decision-making processes of the homes they cover. They discuss the needs of the homeowners and why certain stylistic or structural decisions were made and how those decisions reflect the backgrounds and lifestyles of the homeowners. As other reviewers have echoed, unlike similar publications, Dwell puts the focus on livability. After all, a central facet of a great home is not only the aesthetics but also how the people living within the home feel and live.

I guess my only reservation for recommending this publication is that the budget-conscious should be wary before using the magazine as a design bible. A lot of the products and ideas they present are beautiful but extremely costly. Of course, like everything else in life, to a certain extent you get what you pay for. Nonetheless, the photography and editorial can be a spring board for ones own more budget conscious style.

If you are used to copying your look from Ethan Allen catalogs, DWELL is not for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy free ranging creative design that explores new materials and constantly works outside the box, you'll love this magazine. If I have any reservation at all, it would be that sometimes they skimp on the technical details and lean towards shorter articles. You're still only spending $20. a year for thousands of dollars of inspiration as an alternative to McMansion design.

I like the concept of Dwell Magazine as I am very interested in prefab/modular homes. And it is the only magazine of this kind (to my knowledge) out on the book stands. In the northeast, it was more difficult to find but thanks to Amazon.com I was able to get a subscription to this relatively new magazine. However, their pictorial shots and presentation didn't excite me in wanting to find out more about their product(s). Their editorial was at times more technical than it needed to be for the average person. Their editorial team could have done a better job in presenting more useful information pertinent to regional building requirements (pros/cons), etc. in the U.S. In fact, their advertisers were a times more exciting to peruse. I did not renew as I think they need to better understand the needs of their market.

I subscribed to a couple furniture/design magazines last year, and this is the only subscription I kept. I had Metropolitan Homes, but while it had nice pictures, etc it did not have the polish of Dwell.

Dwell is a designers magazine, with a heavy focus on typography, great layouts, and an overall joy. I've kept every issue and look back at them for design inspiration (I'm a web designer).

    Highly recommend.
