Fresh-cut pineapple is like a little taste of paradise--and if hacking up the whole spiky shebang weren’t such a royal pain, we’d probably all eat a lot more of it. Vacu Vin’s award-winning slicer takes the work and mess out of this tropical treat, peeling, coring, and slicing an entire pineapple in just 30 seconds. Equipped with a medium blade to fit most sizes of fruit, it works just like a corkscrew. Simply cut off the pineapple’s top and twist the cutter into its interior to create perfectly shaped rings; turn once to create just a single slice, or several times to cut up the whole fruit at once. The shell is preserved intact to use for a dessert or drink bowl, providing the perfect presentation for dessert or drinks at your next luau. This durable plastic slicer also makes a great hostess gift, especially for a beach party or vacation home visit. --Mary Park

My husband used to give me a hard time about buying sliced Pineapple in the grocery store, since it is really expensive there in the midwest. He kept telling me to just buy whole pineapples, but I could never figure out how to cut them. I found this thing and bought it, just to try it out. It paid for itself in the first month because I can now get whole pineapples instead of the pricey sliced ones. It's really easy to use, easy to clean and amazingly efficient at slicing an entire pineapple in no time. I am not a huge fan of kitchen gadgets that do only one thing, but this one does it so well, I can't imagine living without it. I buy fresh whole pineapples every time I go to the store.

I purchased this a few months ago and it's really been great, no problems whatsoever...not to mention it's pretty cool!

A few weeks later I drop-shipped one to my aunt and just happened to be there last weekend. I found out this company only sells the product with 'one' slicer, just the medium size, not the other two 'small' and 'large' (three total). Don't just look at price, make sure you pick the company that sells all three slicers or you'll be leaving a lot of pineapple in the husk.

I gave this three stars instead of five because I feel it was pretty sneaky to pull this off, but then again I didn't read the whole description, just ordered by the same price I originally paid.

(Oh, a little trick I read somewhere, cut a small slice of the bottom of the pineapple before you start slicing and there will be zero vacuum when you pull the pineapple rings out!)

This is one of the greatest kitchen gadgets I have ever used. You basically cut the top off of your pineapple and use this product. I think I was done in about a minute or less and my family was eating fresh pineapple. The pineapple was perfectly sliced and clean-up was a breeze. I honestly think most people will amazed at how well this works. I have always loved fresh pineapple but sometimes it can be a pain to clean. This takes the work out of it. I can't help but sing the praises of this kitchen gadget and I am sure you will too!!!

We like fresh pineapple. It is time-consuming and messy to prepare it to eat. One must deal with the core and the rind before you get to the luscious fruit. I saw one of the TV chefs on Food Network using this gadget and I had to find out what it was. I found it on Amazon, of course.

Turn the pineapple on its side and slice off the top (the part with the prickly leaves). Then stand it upright with the cut part exposed and place it in a dish or bowl with a lip that will help hold it upright while you use the Pineapple Slicer. You position the corer part over the core and push down to get it started. Then you continue to push and turn. The gadget separates the fruit from the rind and removes the core with each turn. When you reach the bottom, you will have a pineapple shell you can fill for a decorative display.

It takes more pressure than you'd expect. Still, it's easier than trying to remove the core and the peel with a knife. If you like fresh pineapple and have the room for another gadget, this is a good one to have.

Take an unserrated plastic knife and try slicing a ripe pineapple and you will get the idea of how this works. It mangled my beautiful pineapple and I am quite adept at working kitchen utensils. I think this particular version of the Vacu Vin pineapple slicer/corer is a waste of of time and money. Not only is it designed for smaller pineapples (therefore wastes quite a bit of fruit on the larger ones) it requires a great deal of arm muscle to push this thing down through the pineapple as you are rotating the pineapple. If you are quite strong, possible this will work for you. It tore up my ripe pineapple and what few slices I was able to manage to get were very thin (due to not being able to apply enough pressure to the handle as it was being turned). I ended up using a kitchen knife to finish my pineapples. It took longer, but the end result was much nicer than the mangled mess that this made of the first one I did.

When you think of specialized kitchen gadgets, most people think...just another thing to store. That's true here, but the redeeming factor is thing thing works unbelievably well.

I was worried I would need to read the instructions close, but really you just top the chop off. Stick it on and crank it down. At the end you simply pull it out, and you get a beautiful fresh pineapple rings. Amazing.

It is all plastic, which means it won't rust in a dishwasher or letting drip dry, and also means it's quite safe to throw in a drawer.

I loved this product when I first got it, then saw that the pineapple was no longer coming out in nice clean slices but more like it was squished, I discovered that the cutting blade was blunt and there is no way to sharpen it, its plastic and soft plastic at that. So its great for a few pineapples and thats about it. I am going to look for a metal version of this with a cutting blade that can be sharpened.

I have been buying fresh pineapple because it tastes so good, but I HATE cutting it! It makes a juicy mess, and I have to stop several times in the process to rinse my hands. I saw this in a Reader's Digest magazine and thought I'd give it a try. Oh my word. I wish I had known about this years ago. It was SO easy, so clean, so fast! Even if you only buy 1 fresh pineapple a year, it's worth it!

PS I saw some comments about the durability of this product. I will update this review if I have any issues.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fine but could be better
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 24, 2014
I'll start with the good - pretty easy to use, just a matter of slicing the top of the pineapple off and rotating the slicer in a corkscrew fashion then pull the fruit away and voila you are left with a tasty treat and the shell left behind can make for a groovy looking cup.

My main issue though is the amount of fruit that is not collected/sliced and remains within the shell (maybe my pineapples are wide), it just seems fairly inefficient and wasteful, would be great if you could adjust the size of the cut so not as much fruit is leftover but alas you need to find a pineapple that meets the limitations of the cutter if you don't want to encounter this problem.

    3.0 out of 5 stars 簡単ではあるが、辺縁がシャープではない。
Reviewed in Japan on May 30, 2009

3.0 out of 5 stars My arm gets so tired!
Reviewed in Canada on March 26, 2015
have tried twice. Both times it mangles the pineapple and on bigger pineapples, there is a lot of waste. My arm is very tired through the process, and I do not find it easy but I recommend buying smaller pineapples for sure for this. I am not giving up, I will keep trying and maybe with practice it will improve. I will chock it it up to lack of practice more than a bad tool
