From the manufacturer

Birdscapes Clear Window Feeder 348

Perky-Pet first began as a distributor of various pet supplies in Denver, Colorado. In 1958, Perky-Pet began searching for a way to feed the hummingbirds that people loved to watch outside their homes. The initial design was inspired by medical IV bottles, which were easy to adapt. After some experimentation with this design, Perky-Pet introduced the first commercial hummingbird feeder to the world.

To this day, we strive to find stylish and effective solutions to meet the demands of bird hobbyists and enthusiasts alike.

Found a way to keep the birdfeeder on the window

Found a way to keep the birdfeeder on the window
I've had 2 of this type and brand window birdfeeder for about 12-13 years. Mine have many cracks that I either had to package tape (strong tape) or glued its seam cracks with super glue. They last a very long time PROVIDING that they are not dropped, as they very well may crack or shatter when they hit the ground and roll, especially when it's from a 2nd or 3rd floor (2nd floor for me). Too, it's better to use GEL super glue, it's thicker than regular super glue) just squeeze along the INNER seams and let it dry. Before hanging on your window wash it with just dish soap and water to get the super glue scent off the birdfeeder as birds won't like the smell of it, thereby defeating the whole purpose. You want to make sure it won't be sticky with the super glue GEL still as that would certainly be toxic for birds. When done gluing and washing out air dry the birdfeeder or wipe it out with a clean towel or paper towel. Double sided flexible clear gel tape: It is 2mm thick and bendy/flexible. I'm showing the brand and type that I used to go with my two birdfeeder's window suction cups that I just bought on Amazon from another vendor. I like how the double sided tape is so soft, flexible, and it's easy to use scissors to do clean cuts. Also the thin clear film on the inner side (when on the roll) it pulls off easily to apply. I used this double sided flexible tape for the backside of the suction cups for my two new bird feeders. I was tired of my feeder falling off and breaking on the ground then having to glue and/or use packaging tape to keep the two halves together (not a clean look after doing that btw). This clear double sided flexible gel tape though, so far is staying on my windows, and I can't see it. I cut to the width of the suction cups and stuck it to the side that will be going against the window, and then I trimmed the tape's edge to the same shape as the suction cups with scissors, then took off the thin film and just pressed it onto the suction cups (as you would normally do but without double sided tape) and it is almost invisible! In my provided photos one feeder is in the sun on one side of my house, and the other feeder is on the shaded side of my house, both are still sticking to the windows, going on 6 days now. Hopefully the double sided tape will work just the same in winter. Alaska gets the dry/subzero temps and sometimes the regular suction cups without tape would fall off even sooner. I've even used just a drop of vegetable oil and smeared on both cups that go onto the window, but there, they stay on longer but those eventually fall off. I will update my review when Alaska gets into our subzero temperatures. Right now it is June 20, 2022 and the temp is 72 in shade, 75 light & shade, and about 100 in the sunlight. For outdoor temp accuracy, I have suction cup thermometers on different windows around my house. Also, if your window suction cups get bent or too dried up from age and/or weather, this also affects their suction cup ability and will likely come off. Hopefully this double sided flexible clear tape idea will fix that all-too-common problem. IMPORTANT NOTE: For other applications using this double sided flexible clear gel tape DO NOT put this tape on painted walls, or say that fake sticker paper: a veneer-look that's typically on glue chip board furniture that's made to look like wood, but is only sticker paper. This is pretty strong and IT WILL pull off paper and paint on walls. However, it sticks and pulls off of glass windows pretty easy, at first, in case you have to reapply. But after awhile, I'm not sure, it may have a hard time coming up. I just bought the flexible clear double sided tape, it works great so far after two days! That's sun, wind, rain and birds perching in it. I'm surprised my idea worked, the flexi gel clear tape on the suction cups is almost invisible. Look close if you can zoom on the photos that I've provided with my birdfeeder review. To anyone that doesn't want their window feeder to fall off their window and crack or completely bust, I hope this idea eliminates that and was helpful. I don't often come here to type reviews, but I simply had to review this one. I had ordered this bird feeder, but I wasn't sure I was going to like it. While I was waiting for this one to arrive in the mail, I went to an expensive "Wild Bird" store in town, and I purchased a $25 feeder and a $6 suction cup attachment piece. I set up both bird feeders on two windows, right next to each other. Then we waited and watched the birds come.

Now, I will say that the expensive bird feeder was made in the US, and was made from high-quality hard plastic. This Perky Pet brand at Amazon is made from super lightweight plastic, and feels like it will fall apart at any moment. However, the huge difference between the two that I own is how you can view the birds!

The expensive bird feeder fills up, so when the birds come to eat, the bird seed itself gets in the way of your viewing experience. You may get a better glimpse of the birds if they come in at the exact right angle. Also, my expensive bird feeder is a "cling" feeder, meaning there is no perch. This means the birds must barely grasp the feeder, all the while flapping their wings, and as soon as they get a bit of seed, off they fly to find a perch!

But, with this cheap little feeder, there is NO birdseed to obstruct your view because all of the seed sits at the bottom. In fact, the little birds just hop inside and feast away. Or, they will sit on the ledge of the feeder and feast away. Either way, they stay longer because they are more comfortable. This bird feeder has been an utter delight to us! Oh, and the birds can not sweep the food out either.

I will also say that our trip to the bird store in town was useful, and I will share what I learned about getting the suction cups to stay. You must first soak the suction cups in warm water for a few minutes. Then dry them completely. Then rub your nose (or oily T-zone spot) and lightly rub a bit of that oil into the cup, and *then* firmly stick the suction cup to your window.

Got this so our family could watch the birds feed, up close. We have a few feeders, and this one is not the birds' favorite (at least not when we're right on the other side of the window), but they definitely do visit it. I really think they would go to it, more often, if we didn't have other feeders/suet feeders nearby, and if they couldn't see us, on the other side of the window. When they do go to it, it is a lot of fun to watch them, and to show the birds to our toddler (he gets a kick out of it).

Feedback regarding other concerns I've seen in the comment section:
I've seen a few people post negative reviews based solely on the birds not going up to theirs. Just be patient, and give them a little time to find it. Mine was up for at least a week, before I saw a bird using it. It happens to be close to my other feeders, so I think they found it, easily. If--after the birds have discovered it--you don't think they're visiting it often enough, just limit their options by taking down your other feeders, for a while (like another reviewer stated). Or only put one variety of food in it, so that the birds that favor that food will know to visit that one. Meal worms are a big hit for some birds, or so I've read.

As for it's durability/staying stuck to the window... I've had no problems with this, at all. I'm in New England. I bought this, during this winter, and put it up on a very cold window. I was nervous it wouldn't stay, because of the cold. However, I followed the advice from other comments, and rubbed a little bit of cooking oil on the suction cups, prior to hanging. It has stayed in place like a champ (through several snowstorms, and has stayed up with a few inches of snow on top of it's roof). Very impressed with it's staying power, in this kind of weather.

I've seen mostly Chicadees and Tufted Titmouses at it, so far. In fact, I hear a Tufted out in my yard, right now, so maybe he'll pay it a visit :-)

Got this as my first bird feeder a few months ago. I've added some more on a pole in my yard after the outstanding success of this product. For the price I was skeptical about how well it would stick or hold up to use. It has far exceeded my expectations. Held very firm to the window through out this winter in NY. I was very impressed as we have had an unusually warm winter in general but still several nights and days that dropped to 0. This means it held on through wide temperature shifts from 60 on one day to literally 5 degrees the next. You would think the cheap suction cups would release but they did not. Additionally it does a great job of keeping rain and snow out of the seed, which is awesome.
The way it mounts to the window is also pretty clever, on the back of the "base" are a couple of small plastic bumps that act as stand offs from the window. Between the suction cups and these standoff, that means the actual feeder sits a few millimeters from the window. This allows water to run down the window and behind the feeder without pooling anywhere. As birds feed, I've noticed they toss shells and whatever all over the place. Some of that debris ends up going behind the feeder, with those little stand off bumps holding it away from the window it keeps it from collecting and making a mess since it just falls through.
The only reason I have deducted a star is because this thing is a little hard to fill and clean. The roof line extends out over the front by about an inch. This makes pouring seed into it, even with a funnel, a little tricky while it's mounted to the window. Not overly difficult, but it takes longer to fill this small feeder than to fill my other 4 feeders combined, which seems weird. This same design makes cleaning it more of a chore than you would expect. Again a minor quibble, but something worth noting.
Another final benefit to this great feeder is its size. It can fit a couple of house finches at a time, or a cowbird. Grackles, however can hardly get to it and tend to leave it alone. This allows the smaller birds to have a consistent feeding spot without getting hassled. The slick plastic roof prevents birds from getting a perch on top of the feeder which prevents them from leaving droppings all over it, that probably wasn't a feature purposely designed into the feeder but it is an awesome side effect.

This product is rubbish, simply put. It's very cheaply made of 2 thin low quality plastic pieces which are poorly attached together.

One of the suction cups was so poorly made that it couldn't even stick to the window. It just falls off!

I paid over 9 pounds for this rubbish! It's not even worth a pound.

Purchased for feeing squirrels and birds. Had it screwed to the side of the deck after the first feeder was repeated knocked to the ground by dueling squirrels and birds. Suction cups seem to work well but we didn’t have it on the window for very long. Feeder will break easily if dropped.
