I was literally about to return this mattress topper. Contacted Amazon, hubby and I compressed it so that it would fit back into the box; we rewrapped it with plastic, taped up the box. Reason: We had originally placed it on Top of the c4 mattress. It made us hot, left a crater for my husband, and the smell was just horrible for me even after airing it out the allotted time. The smell would wake me up whenever my husband or I would turn in the bed. A gush of air would come up with that horrible chemical-like smell!
However, we decided to break it back out of the box (after All that work) unzip the c4 and place the topper INSIDE, underneath the eggshell foam that originally came with the bed. I was initially concerned that it would make the bed to bulky, but it zipped just fine. I WISH I TOOK BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS! It changed the look making it appear more luxury!!! Our newly c4 model was closeout just prior to Sleep iQ, has a pillowtop, and is 10” rather than the late 9” model. It arrived a month ago. According to the Sleep Number brochure and website the difference between the c4 and i7 is pressure point relief with additional memory foam, with slightly better cooling and overall support. Our c4 had 3” of comfort layers while the i7 has 5 inches. This is a two inch topper sooo we now have 5 inches of comfort layers. I am sure we have at least 11 inches (i7) of height now. We could feel the difference that night as it was even more supportive. Don’t get me wrong. The Sleep Number bed was great from the start, first night it arrived. But I just could not afford the higher priced beds. It’s also harder to splurge on something relatively new.
Next step was to protect my investment! Late January, I got the flu and didn’t leave our old bed for days. I never spilled food or drink in the bed but I did have a fever. But regardless, I purchased a mattress protector cover. It too has an extra layer of cushion all while protecting the mattress. Here is where you can find the mattress cover: Quilted Waterproof Mattress Pad Protector Cover (Queen) with Soft Down Alternative Fill 15" Deep Pocket Fitted Skirt I recently found out that if people sleep too hot it may be link to the thread count being too high. Our thread count is 700. If I find us having problems during the summers, I may try bamboo sheets. They are supposed to be more comfortable during the summer.
In Summary: I will not be returning my mattress topper. The smell is now nonexistent. We do not sleep hot. If I lift a sheet up over the bed and lay it down waves of air would run underneath – that’s how you know the bed is “breathing.” Our old standard mattress did that but not as much as this one. I purchased the c4 with the idea of turning it into a higher end model from the start!! The memory gel foam is perfect with the right density and height @2inches. My c4 already had soft Breathable Knit fabric as pillow top. (Recall my c4 is NOT Sleep iQ as that bed maybe very different inside) So the ventilated holes in this topper are excellent. There’s no need to sleep directly on top of it to receive the benefits of cooling. It complements the bed very well! I can still feel the adjustment of the air chambers move underneath me so the bed is not too thick. My bed feels like a Dream Cloud and gives me a hug every night! My c4 is “Da BOMB!” 💥

Set Up
Your mattress topper will arrive rolled up and vacuum sealed in a relatively small box. Unroll and lay completely flat. Please allow up to 96-hours for it to fully decompress. The decompression process may take quicker in warm weather.
Upon Reciept
Your topper may have an odor upon arrival. Although the foam's smell doesn't necessarily trigger allergies, it can be annoying to those with a hyper-sensitive sense of smell. Have no fear, the smell will dissipate within a few days to a few weeks. To speed up the process, you can air out the room and wash the sheets after a few days of use.

- Please note that your mattress topper is intentionally manufactured a bit smaller than a standard mattress size for maximum functionality.
- Also, if necessary, the topper can be cut to size carefully using a sharp blade.

One of the best purchases I've made in my life. It's so comfy I often giggle when I get into bed. I've had memory foam pads before, this is SO much better. The thick smooth cover help immensely-my sheets can move with me instead of getting stuck on the pad. The cover has stay put dots on the underside so it wont roam around the bed. The bed hasn't felt hot even when it was over 80 in the house, I think that's where the gel part comes in. I personally like the 2 inch best. Much thicker and I kinda get stuck in the bed and my feet and hands are too high compared to the rest of me. 1 inch pads don't do much comforting for me. I don't know any one that has any thing to do with the manufacturer or Amazon. I just love this pad.I think it's the cover that makes the difference between 2" gell MF pads. This is the Godie-locls of mattress pads. Just right.
