      I used 2 of these add-on speakers with the two that come in the main SPK-VELO-001 base unit around our yard and swimming pool and plugged them all into AC outlets using extension cords so I can't comment on battery life. I used an iPod headphone/audio splitter to share our stereo's iPod port and there was uninterrupted music from the house using our regular wired speakers and through the yard to the pool using these wireless speakers. These are $50 speakers and the sound is not perfect and there can be interference, it helps to place the speaker higher than the transmitter and to be in line of sight, but if you need to extend your good audio system outside for a party and don't want to run wires, these work great. You can also plug your iPod/iPhone directly into the transmitter and it sounds great. It is actually preferable that these speakers are not stereo because they work great with multiple speakers placed individually far apart from each other. The sound is incredible as you walk from speaker to speaker.

      Please be aware something very important about this particular speaker is that although it has a volume control push button on the side of the speaker to turn the volume up and down, it does not have any kind of indicator as to what level the volume is at. I am using this product to send remote wireless sound alerts when trading financial markets while sleeping. If I have not checked the sound level prior to setting the alert, then I do not know if I will hear the alert or not because there is no volume indicator on the speaker itself. Having said that, the speaker works perfect for what it is intended to do for me. I love it and quite frankly cant live without it! This would be the one improvement I would like to see. It also needs a wireless transmitter in order to work which you will have to purchase separately. It does not mention this in the description so beware.

      these speakers emit sound... and that's about it. they have good volume, but the bass is almost non-existent. the quality of the sound from the regular speakers is of low quality. it doesn't sound as good as my old LG computer speakers, but they are more powerful. the remote is quite handy. i will not return them despite this. I'll probably get a hold of a wireless subwoofer to accompany them. Also, the range on them is good. The 900 mhz transmitter goes through regular drywalls and even through brick. Easy set up. Just plug them in. One complaint is that the transmitter doesn't pick up the sound from the computer (i have a macbook with os x) for about 4-5 seconds. When it doesn't pick up the sound either because there is no sound, or the volume is very very low, it just shuts off and waits for a volume it can detect.

      I originally bought a set of these some two years ago. Everything was great. Earlier this year, one of the speakers had a small speaker problem so I decided to replace it. The new speaker after a few days would blast out static once the TV stopped transmitting. Finally after months of powering it down or turning the volume off, I ordered a new one thinking I had a defective wireless speaker. Now the new one after just two days is doing the same thing. Just blasting static noise once the TV stops transmitting sound. I even exchanged speakers in the room thinking maybe where I had it was the problem. No - the same speaker is still putting out the static in a different place in the living room so I know it is the speaker and not where I originally had it. They must have changed how they manufactured these speakers or are using inferior quality parts.

      After purchasing the system with two speakers I found that I needed to move one from the living room to the dinning room a couple of times a day. I had one of the two speakers with batteries (suggest heavy duty "C' cells as they last longer). After a week of doing this, I decided to purchase this product, an extra speaker. I still have one unit with batteries, but now I move it between the dinning room and my computer workshop. Maybe I need to consider purchasing one more unit! The product arrived on the scheduled date and has worked flawless since I purchased it. I use it for audio books and it reproduces the human voice excellently.

      These speakers are my 3rd attempt at finding something I'm happy with. For the price, I would recommend these. They're not perfect, but I am happy with them. They are weatherproof and have decent sound quality and decent volume. They have a/c adapters and they take 12 C batteries and this can get expensive I suppose. I like the auto-off and auto-on feature. I'm not happy with the remote; it doesn't always turn the speaker on after they've been off for a period of time. I also wish it had a "mute" button. Anyway, good value.
