Say Hello to Your New Favorite Looper

The Pigtronix Infinity 2 Looper Pedal takes the ultra-low-latency looping engine of the original Infinity looper and squeezes it into a compact, user-friendly stompbox. The Infinity 2 lets you harness two independent stereo loops for a verse/chorus workflow. The Infinity 2 has full-range high-headroom inputs that accept mono and stereo instrument-level signals as well as line-level signals. Pair its impressive stereo I/O capabilities with versatile control parameters and innovative effects, and you’ve got yourself a seriously capable looper. The Pigtronix Infinity 2 Looper Pedal gives you the tools to create expressive performances that your audience will love.

Loop boundary functionality

The Pigtronix Infinity 2 offers incredible functionality for such a petite pedal. It all acts on one rule of thumb — most actions you trigger are automatically applied at the boundaries of the current loop. This eliminates the need for spot-on timing to switch between loops or stopping your loop at the correct time. You'll be surprised at the way the Infinity 2 turbo-charges your workflow and makes it easy to build full songs. At Sweetwater, we've discovered two notable exceptions to the loop boundary rule. Instant Stop and Fade Out functions will happen immediately once you activate them.

Use the Decay control for constant loop evolution

The Infinity 2 only has two knobs — Volume and Decay. The Volume control allows you to set the perfect level for your loop. However, when you play with the Decay control, things start to get interesting. The Decay knob causes loop audio to fade out during overdubbing. When you set the knob as far as you can clockwise, the Infinity 2 will behave like a standard looper with all layers at full volume for the duration of your session. But when you crank the knob as far as you can counter-clockwise, each overdub disappears after a single loop cycle. Between the two extremes, the Decay setting creates a continuously evolving loop that is sure to spice up your practice sessions and performances.

Explore new sonic textures with special effects switching

Traditional looping pedals simply loop the same section of music over and over while you play along. This tends to get boring, especially if you've been practicing all day. The Infinity 2 can help you ditch the days of boring loops and usher in a new era of fun player-controlled effects. Above the left footswitch, you'll notice a small push-button switch. This allows you to change the functionality of the footswitch. You can choose between Stop, Stutter, Octave Shift, and Undo/Redo. On the back panel of the pedal, a TRS remote jack allows you to trigger each of these special effects with an external footswitch.

Pigtronix Infinity 2 Looper Pedal Features:

  • Versatile looper pedal is perfect for live shows
  • Dual stereo loops allow you to record verse and chorus loops independently
  • Full-range inputs handle instrument-level and line-level signals
  • Decay control fades out loop audio during overdub
  • External footswitch input lets you trigger special effects while both loops are engaged
  • Loop boundary functionality makes sure your overdubs are perfectly in time

So far so good

My first few hours with it were amazing. I had a G1ON multi effects pedal but the looper on it was pretty bad, so I've been wanting to upgrade for a while.

I was on the fence between this and the EHX720, ultimately went with this for the ability to queue functions to happen at the end of the loop, and also the chorus/verse two loops in series ability. Sad it didn't have the reverse, but honestly, I'd probably never use it. I'm not really into the ambient loop stuff, mostly want to practice blues and scales over changes to work on sounding more musical.

Also worth noting that it does store your two loops after powering off. I couldn't find that info before I bought it.

Sound quality is great, and honestly, my guitar is quieter plugged into the looper than without it.

Really excited to have this in my practice routine now. Endless fun.

5 stars and 2 wishes

5 stars for everything it does, with a great sampling rate, all while having a small footprint. I wish the paper manual mentioned the awesome "secret mode" that I happened to find in the manual online at Pigtronix. The paper manual should always cover everything. I also wish the undo feature would undo only the last overdub. I can't speak for all loopers, but at least with Boss, TC Electronic, and EHX, you can erase the last overdub at any time and still have the embedded loop. With the Infinity 2, if you're overdubbing and your loop starts over, whatever you're overdubbing gets embedded and you can't undo it. The actual undo feature of the pedal is two-fold: it can act as an "undo/redo" to take out an overdub and bring it back in, which is cool, or it erases the entire loop, which is redundant because you can do that by pressing the foot-switch twice and holding it on the second press. If you stop an overdub before it loops it will erase just that overdub, which is fine if you make a mistake and catch it quickly, but doesn't help if you want to delete the last overdub just because. I would still highly recommend the Infinity 2 if you want a verse-chorus style looper without spending bigger bucks.

Surprisingly Intuitive

First, let me say that I just got this thing yesterday which is why I'm at 4.5 stars as apposed to 5. It's unfair, but I'm docking half a point just because I don't know anything about the durability of this thing. It's a relatively new item, so nobody really knows yet, I guess. I should wait longer and use this item more before I review it, but it has already inspired me to tout its positives on day 2, and besides playing guitar, there's not much going on at this point in time. Normally I don't do reviews. Just being honest. Also, full disclosure: I've never owned a looper before, so I have nothing to compare it to. I only have one now because this stupid pandemic is messing with my band practices...no, we do not have the technology to jam remotely. So, I decided I'm gonna finally take the plunge and buy a looper even though my drummer cringes at the thought... This particular looper won against the Clone because of one simple thing: actions at the loop boundary. I have excellent timing (my drummer cringes again), but this means I only need to have excellent timing once. Apparently the clone counts you in to the loop boundary with four flashes which is a cool feature, and it's 50 bucks cheaper, so there's that, but automatic is automatic, am I right? I've been playing more than usual since I got this pedal and that's saying something because I practice obsessively anyway. New gear syndrome, I'm sure it'll wear off eventually, but I'm still fully entrenched in the honeymoon phase at this point. This thing has a lot of features as you can see from the demos, but I only watched a few of them once apiece before the pedal arrived, and I haven't even gone back to look since it showed up. I figured I'd take it for spin, figure what I could from just messing around with it and what little I remember from the videos. (My memory is pretty terrible sometimes...even lyrics I wrote myself escape me on occasion). I will say this: I was pleasantly surprised at how intuitive this pedal is. I don't have much use for the octave feature; fake bass sounds don't do much for me, and as far as gimmicks go, I would've preferred a reverse feature like the clone, but the decay is endless fun, and the extra 50 and lack of reverse was not enough to beat the action at the loop boundary thing. I can't say that enough. This feature makes this incredibly useable. Hopefully it lasts. No reason to believe it won't yet.

Good but could be so much better

I've been into looping for a long time, and have owned a Line6 DL4, Strymon Timeline, and a few other pedals with looping capabilities in the past. I was excited to get the Infinity 2 because it seemed like the be all and end all of loopers.

I'll start off with the things I like:
- It's incredibly compact and small, much smaller than most loopers
- Solid construction and stomp switches
- Volume control for the loop output is pretty nice
- Generally intuitive to use

Here's what I don't like:
- You have to double tap and hold the stomp switch to erase a loop. This in my opinion is a terrible design because the loop will briefly play (after the first stomp). Often times my loops are loud, so you get about a half second of a loud clip that plays. For that reason, this looper really can't be used in a live setting. Fine for at home, but still, this is my biggest gripe with the looper and could have easily been avoided by just implementing a hold for 3 seconds function to erase loops instead of a double tap + hold.
- You can't overdub when a loop is in the middle of playing, so you have to wait for it to start all over again
- This pedal causes a significant amount of hum in my signal chain. After removing the pedal from the chain (with 5 other pedals), the hum disappeared, so I know it's this pedal that's causing it.

I had high hopes for this pedal but really wish it was better thought out for being able to be used in a live setting.

It's OK

First, the pros. It is very small and compact. Some loop functions can be queued for execution at the end of a loop. This eliminates the need to be precise in button pressing, but, only applies after the initial loop is created. Now, the cons. While it's advertised to be a dual-loop looper, you have to sacrifice Undo/Redo capability to use both loops. The button for the 2nd loop is multi-purpose (Stop, Once, Octave, Undo/Redo or Loop 2), but, once one of the other functions is chosen it no longer is a dual-loop looper. Switching between Undo/Redo and Loop 2 functionality via the soft switch instantly erases the Loop 1 content. There is supposedly a 'Secret Mode' which eliminates this problem, but, I was unable to configure Secret Mode despite following the instructions in the manual. I sent an email to Pigtronix support regarding this issue but haven't heard back from them. Also, the optional footswitch is needed to stop loops with a single button press, otherwise a double-tap is required for each loop button. Double-tap and hold erases a loop, but, causes a short burst of audio as the unit interprets the button press sequence. I personally find this awkward to use.
