Battery-powered Headphone Amp

If you need mobility with uncompromising audio quality, Sweetwater recommends the PreSonus HP2 stereo personal headphone amplifier for driving your wired in-ear monitors or headphones. Compact and portable, the HP2 offers two line-level XLR inputs and one stereo 1/8" headphone out with volume control. Operation can be switched between stereo and mono, and a Pan knob is supplied. You can power the HP2 with an external DC power supply or a 9-volt battery that lasts up to seven hours and includes an LED indicator.

I got the Behringer version and years ago and I'm happy with the upgrade.

Perfect for me

This PreSonus HP2 IEM pack is perfect. I love being able to mount it on a mic stand and use the power adapter. It's easy to use and set up, and sounds great. I prefer using this on my gigs than the sound company's wireless IEM packs because I don't have to worry about interference or batteries! I've been using them on every gig for a few weeks, and I like them better than the other more expensive brand one I used for years. The build quality is impressive as well, you can tell it was built for a touring musician. It is a bit heavy, so if you like to wear them, you might want to wear a belt too

Just Curious

You all know that Presonus designed this box to compete directly with the Shure P9HW, right? The Shure is the industry standard hardwire IEM box, but... it's pretty spendy for what is in essence a battery-powered headphone amp. The HP2 a different 5-pin connector but uses the same cable breakouts for the inputs. Because of this the HP2 can be used in place of the P9HW. Does it make sense why Presonus chose this cable setup now?

Don't slag Presonus for the cable. They made a deliberate design choice to follow Shure's lead. If you want to use a single XLR, get the Behringer. If you want a direct replacement for the P9HW, get the HP2.

HP2"s are great. We use them for our entire worship team. Our stage is quiet and easy to mix. They are built like a tank and survive both fixed and worn applications. For small churches, it allows the money to be spent on IEM ear pieces where it counts and save money by not buying wireless units where they are not needed.
