Ever since reading the reviews for this product, I had to get my hands on it. I've heard more about the soap than the brush, but figured I might as well buy the set, and I'm really glad I did.
First off, the soap is the best I've used so far, after trying several other types. I've tried several different shaving soaps, including store-bought brands that are typical run of the mill soaps. I had yet to find a shave soap that would work well for me, until now. The Blades Grim "Smolder" is absolutely awesome in every way possible. Upon opening the tin, the fragrance is the first thing that stands out. It definitely has a vanilla smell to it, but almost a toasted vanilla, with other notes I can't quite figure out, but they smell great. The soap itself is a nice puck that fills the entire tin. Using the included brush from this set, the soap loads and lathers very well with minimal effort. The blade glides effortlessly with this soap, and I get much less irritation than with other soaps.
The satin brush in this set pairs well with this soap. I usually use a badger brush a lot, but wanted to try a new material. This brush doesn't shed like my badger brushes, and it lathers with the soap very easily, creating a very rich lather. Seems to be very sturdy and hopefully it will hold up to many uses.
All in all, this set is definitely worth every penny spent, and I wish I would have started with this set when I was new to wet shaving. I'll definitely be purchasing this set again.

New to wet shaving but here are my opinions: Brush: - Looks amazing, very attractive, the synthetic hairs feels really soft to the face, lathers good, so far shaved 2 times with it and on every shave I noticed 2-3 hairs falling off but from what I read online that's normal when you are breaking in the brush, so maybe 10+ shaves and will stop sheading or shed very little. Anyways 2-3 hairs per shave don't bother me, and that was the hairs shedding on the soap not on the face so no weird tickling on the face :) Soap: -Smells good, last long time, the brush bristles still smell like the soap even after 20 hrs have past... Lathers really good and gives you good foam. I noticed after some time being on the face it dries up, but maybe its just me needing to add more water to the brush or while I later in the cup or continuing to later on my face, new to wet shaving so im not quite sure cause it might be the error on my end. Overall I like the soap and looks like its going to last me very long time, good soap in my opinion :)

Nice wet shaving combo.
The brush is well made and comfortable in your hand. The synthetic bristles are soft and silky smooth on your face. After a month of use there have been on issues with bristles shedding like I experienced with the boar and badger brushes plus there was also no break-in period to soften up the brush.
The shaving soap is also very good. It lathers up quickly has a nice smell that doesn't linger. It's hard to describe the smell but let's just say the name 'smoulder' fits perfectly. It dries out pretty quick after your done shaving but doesn't get brittle. The tin with a screw on lid is perfect for wet shaving. You don't need a separate bowl.
I use this combo with a Gillette Fusion and Nivea post shave balm. I'm to chicken to use a straight razor.
