When my family decided to purchase a new production home, we decided to save some money and install the cabinet pulls and knobs ourselves. The total cost of the pulls, knobs, drill bits and jigs for around $150. The construction company wanted to charge us $500.
The knobs we purchased to match with these were the Amerock TPK1590-G10 Inspirations Pull Plain Satin Nickel, 3-Inch Center to Center from Amazon.com.
The Amerock brand is sold at all of the major home improvement stores, but Amazon.com had the same product at a considerably better price. I purchased all of our items for nearly $100 less than the price of the local stores.
The pulls and knobs came wrapped in typical retail packaging, and the quality is unquestioned.
The satin nickel finish matched our other hardware in the home perfectly, and it contrasted nicely with our dark maple finished cabinets and dark granite countertops.
The screws provided for the pulls were plenty long to work on the cabinet doors. However, the drawers need longer screws due to the drawer faces being screwed onto solid wood drawers -- adding considerably more thickness than the typical drawer face.
Installation was easy. Simply purchase a pre-made cabinet hardware jig and two or three good brad point drill bits. Two people can install an entire home of cabinet hardware in about 1.5 hours.
