- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2015This is one of those tools that made me wonder how I've lived without it. It's so easy to use -- just push the snake into the lavatory or shower drain as far as it will comfortably to, give it a couple twists and turns, and pull out the hair. It may take a few (4-8) tries to get all of it (my hair is medium-long, just below collar bone). The wire is plastic coated so it makes no marks on your sink, and the business end is small, tapered, and covered with a Velcro-like surface about an inch long that really grabs the hair. Tip: Wear rubber gloves, because you have to pull off the nasty clog with your fingers. At the top of the snake, the smooth plastic grip makes pushing and pulling the snake easy. (To freshen up the drain once finished, I add about 1/2 cup baking soda then 1/2 cup vinegar, followed by hot running water after the fizzing stops, but this is up to you. I also pour about 1/2 cup household bleach in my lavatory and shower drains every month to kill off mold and other smelly stuff; but again, up to you. I have no small children at home, so I don't have to be as concerned as parents of young children might be.) My Turbo Snake is kept under the sink in a plastic zip bag so I can always find it.
In summary, this product does what it's designed to do, does it well and easily, and is reasonably priced, especially considering liquid drain cleaners won't eliminate hair, and it may possibly save you a call to the plumber!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2011I bought this at Walgreens and then was on Amazon later that night and saw it for a few dollars cheaper, so i returned it to Walgreens and bought it off Amazon.
I heard about this product from my sister and after seeing the results at my sisters' house i just had to buy one for myself!
I am so happy i did, because when i finally did get around to using it in my bathroom sink the results were amazing!
I even got out an obscene amount of bobby pins, left in the drain pipe from an old room mate of mine, who was not careful at all!! the amount of hair that came out of my drain! Wow! It was A LOT of hair!!
i am so happy i can finally use my sink now and that the water actually goes down properly! No more build up! No more having the sink fill up with water when i am washing my hands, washing my face or brushing my teeth!
Turbo Snake really helped a lot!!!
I would recommend this product to those of you that has a sink that fills up with water quickly and the water doesnt go down or takes an obscene amount of time to finally go down the drain! Sometimes the sink was still half full of water when i woke up in the morning!!
Keep in mind that buying this product also means that you will no longer have to use harsh chemicals like overpriced Draino - I really hate harsh chemicals and wouldnt even use Draino to unclog my sink. I did try the baking soda, salt and vinegar trick but it didnt work as the sink as so full of hair, dirt and can you believe it bobby pins - i was shocked when they came out stuck to the large ball of hair and was utterly disgusted!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2011I love this mini snake for the bathroom sink. It's almost fun to use, slide it down the drain and twist it around until it's in, then draw it out and pull out your clog. Try this a few times and soon your clog is gone. We cleared one sink drain and went along to the other bathroom just to really clear out that one too. It was like a game, the teens even liked helping with this and we will never have a slow drain again !! Used the little hook that came with it to hang this tool right under the sink and we'll be happy to use it again and again. ... Slow drain ... Just get this !!!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2011The bathroom sink drain slows from occasional hair buildup. This snake seemed like a simple, inexpensive, and logical device to help solve the problem. I carefully inserted the smaller of the two snakes (there's a larger one for tub drains that will also fit in the sink but more snugly), twisting it some as per directions. I didn't know what might catch on the first try so I was very tentative. I easily removed a clump of hair, disposed of it, and attempted to remove more. This second time met with complete failure. The velcro-like "head" on the snake came off. I tried the second snake in the tub drain after carefully making sure that its head seemed well attached. It met with similar, immediate fate. The plastic covered wire seems strong enough and the head showed me initially that it would remove hair. But the head is glued to the wire--and will not hold even under slight pull pressure. (The snake was not stuck or resisting when the head came off and I did not know this happened until the wire returned bare.) Mechanical attachment would have made this a great product. It's possible that my exemplar was "made on Monday" and poorly constructed. But both of them? As easily as this product came apart, I would not recommend it to anyone who is not willing to re-engineer the attachment of the head to the wire before using it.
EDIT: In my search for a decent tool for this job, I found Cobra Products 00412 Zip-It Drain Cleaning Tool, 12-Pack. I didn't review it there since it has so many positive reviews already that describe the simple product well. It works! It's almost too obvious--just a plastic stem with "barbs" to collect hair and drain muck, works in sink or tub drains very well, and it is disposable. (If you got a well-constructed Turbo Snake you would have to store it dirty or clean it.) It's easy to manipulate and I didn't have any problems with it getting stuck during use. Had it, you could exert all the force you would desire to remove it since the worst you could do to it is strip the barbs on an already disposable product! There's a smaller quantity package available as well.

If your a house full of women with long hair this is fantastic! gets all the hair out the sink/shower and bath drains. I would say its more for pulling hair out than unblocking food etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars
