The Presidents and UFOs: A Secret History from FDR to Obama Hardcover – March 17, 2015
Purchase options and add-ons
The UFO enigma has been part of our culture since the 1940s and building to a worldwide explosion of acceptance today. Now, as governments around the world open their files and records on internal UFO investigations, the US remains steadfast in its denial of interest in the UFO issue. As more of the world's population accepts the possibility of an extraterrestrial presence, the demand is building for disclosure from the United States.
Using newly declassified and Freedom of Information Act documents, eyewitness accounts, interviews, and leaked documents being authenticated, THE PRESIDENTS AND UFOS details the secret history of UFOs and the corresponding presidential administration. Starting in 1941 with the Roosevelt administration, author Larry Holcombe examines the startling discoveries facing a president preoccupied by WWII, the explosion of UFO sightings during the Truman years, first contact during the Eisenhower administration, and the possibility of a UFO connection to the Kennedy assassination. In 1975, the Nixon administration came very close to admitting that UFOs exist by funding a documentary by Robert Emenegger. Almost 40 years later, this book will examine Emenegger's findings.
For the first time, the involvement of all of the modern presidents up to and including President Obama, and the rise and then fall of their influence on UFO issues, are told in one story that is an integral part of the fascinating UFO tapestry.

“Holcomb's inclusion of official documents lends his topic an elusive validation, adding weight to his story. There's a cinematic undercurrent that runs through the book…. he raises many questions and offers plenty of evidence to keep fellow ufologists debating the topic for years to come.” ―Publishers Weekly
“A thoroughly researched and well documented synopsis of the UFO phenomena. Highly recommended for those who want to educate themselves about the UFO mystery that continues to baffle observers throughout the world.” ―Stan Gordon, UFO Researcher and Author
“Eminently readable and meticulously researched, this fascinating new book documents the evolution of the US government's handling of the UFO phenomenon, with the story neatly woven together by exploring the intriguing question of what various Presidents knew (or didn't know) about the issue.” ―Nick Pope, UK Ministry of Defense UFO Project, 1991-1994 and author of Encounter in Rendlesham Forest

I was born on May 25, 1943, smack in the middle of WWII. My first eight years were spent with my family in a bungalow on Williamsburg Road in Sandston, VA, near the Richmond Army Air Base, a training base for P-47 pilots. My earliest memories are of life in a small town that was really a functioning part of the military, as many families in the community rented rooms to service men and their wives stationed at the air base. Post WWII was a simple and lovely time in Sandston; a Norman Rockwell small town of tree lined streets with white frame houses. A new car or someone getting a television created a wave of excitement, but it was also a time when great change was just beginning to occur. It is truly fascinating to look back as witnesses to the extraordinary changes that have taken place from that simple time to the present, and it is part of who I am today.
From the very beginning of my education reading and comprehending what I had read seemed to come easily and literature was always a passion. Unfortunately reading and comprehension proved to be one of my few early academic accomplishments. The simple truth is that if something didn't interest me I had little time for it, and that included much of what exasperated teachers were trying to pound into my head. After graduating from high school I had a brief stint in the Army before enrolling in the old Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University) majoring in journalism. Unfortunately my college career would be cut short at two years, as my financial situation made full time work a necessity.
For the next 40 years I worked in construction related sales and marketing. In 1979 I started my own manufactures rep agency that I ran until 1999 when I closed it to become the military sales manager for a Chicago based company. In 2006 I decided to take early retirement and fulfill my passion to write. My first novel, The Great River Disclosure was published by Brandylane Publishers in July, 2009. My second novel, Satan's Angel was sold to a small publishing house and was released in ebook format. Unfortunately legal issues between author and publisher make the future of this book uncertain at this time.
Both are thrillers with much of the action taking place around and on the Chesapeake Bay that I know so well. In addition, my extensive travel with military sales has given me an in-depth knowledge of many areas around our great and beautiful country. Hopefully this knowledge will allow me to develop accurate plot scenes from many areas expanding the depth of my plot and characters.
In the fall of 2013 a proposal for my first book of non-fiction was purchased through my agent by St. Martin's Press. The manuscript is now in the editing process and the book is due to be released March 17, 2015, in hardcover, eBook format, and as an audio book.
I have been married to the same lovely lady for 42 years. Alice and I, along with our two boys, moved from Richmond, Virginia, to the Northern Neck of Virginia in 1989. Our oldest son, daughter in-law, and six granddaughters and one grandson live in New Braunfels, Texas just north of San Antonio. Our youngest son, daughter in-law and grandson live in Reedville, VA.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2015While I am not a fanatic when it comes to UFO's and other "other worldly" things, this book is by far the greatest book on UFO's and alien accounts that have occurred in my lifetime. The author takes you from the early UFO "stories" to present day. And he does it by going through each presidency (1940's and forward). He tries to determine whether each president knew of what was being covered up, or whether they were actually a part of it. Either way, I can almost promise you that there is "new" information in this book that has never been published ( I haven't read everything there is on the subject). The amazing and best thing about it all is he documents most everything in the book. Tons of FOIA requests from the government and tons of research have led to a very easy to read and informative book. The cover ups. The secret investigative groups.Secret government groups to ensure nobody finds out the truth of what is happening. People sworn to secrecy over what they have seen or heard. After reading the book I am convinced that we not only have been visited but quite possibly the visitors are here and have been for some time. This is probably the greatest cover up of all time for our world. Read this book. You'll be glad you did!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2016The Presidents and UFOs is an intriguing title and you think you are going to read it and get a confirmation about the existence of UFOs through the presidents from FDR to Obama. But although it is jam packed with documented incidents the book disappoints and leaves you hanging. People are reluctant to report sightings due to the disinformation campaign and the conspiracy of silence by those in the government who investigate these incidents. We know, they know, but they still deny. Larry Holcombe has written an extensive history of what has occurred since 1947 up to the present. George H.W. Bush was Director of the CIA during the Carter Administration and when Carter wanted information, Bush refused. I read in another publication that Ronald Reagan and Nancy were on their way to a party in Hollywood when he was an actor and they were approached by a being from a UFO. Telepathically, Reagan was told to stop making movies and to get into politics! There is an incident in this book that Reagan witnesses being followed by a UFO while in an airplane. I have my own theories about UFOs as do many I imagine. The book was interesting but I wasted my time because it left me in another dead end.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2015Very engrossing non-fiction accounts of UFO reports and attempts to conceal the majority of them. The detailed research and well presented content of "The Presidents and UFOs" is extremely interesting, especially to one who has actually experienced a UFO sighting.
If you have any interest in the UFO/extraterrestrial phenomenon you need this book in your library!

I thought this was a great book on the history of UFOs cases and presidential administrations handling of them. I've heard others say that it does not offer much in the way of how presidents have reacted or handled these issues. I think the author provided some great research into a very difficult topic to delve into, that being how President's have dealt with and handled the UFO phenomena. The book even also explore into some cases that I was not aware of and provide some good insight into the Air Force's handling of the UFO issues with Project Blue Book.
I think it is a great read for anyone wanting to study the history of Ufology in the United States.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2019Well written, with lots of good information. Very few typos. The author details what was going on with UFOs and alien contact during each Presidential Administration, from Truman up to the Obama administration, and describes the reactions of the presidents and how they handled what was being learned about the extraterrestrials.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2017This was an interesting read despite the fact the most of the information within is well known to those of us familiar with this topic. I found it interesting duento the timeline it presents using presidential administrations. More data connected the different presidents to the cover up would've certainly earned it two more stars. Would recommend to someone unfamiliar with the last 70 years of of UFO talking points.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2015If you are a UFO buff, this is a must read! There have been rumors for years about past presidents having knowledge of Alien contacts. This book, which is meticulously researched, pulls all the rumors together and lays out the case in an entertaining and engaging style. style. If you have an interest in the subject matter I highly recommend Mr. Holcombe's book.

5.0 out of 5 stars .
Indeed very very interesting, however, some of the facts (!) appear to be frightening too. It is amazing to learn that we are not alone in the galaxy and our visitors are far more advanced than us so that they can defy the law of physics.

Totally enjoyed this book! Very well presented. I would recommend this book to anyone. It's all in the details. I only hope the current US government doesn't use disclosure to boost their downward spiral.
