- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2013This is, by far, the best apple slicer available for purchase. I like the grips. They are bigger than average and durable too. I previously owned one made by Kitchenaid. Although I liked it, after using this one I can certainly tell a difference. It cut very easily and with little effort. I feel like it is safer and less apt to slip or lean too far in one direction. It just cuts evenly and cores the apple evenly too. I just through my in the dishwasher. So, cleaning was simple too. I would and have recommended it to friends. I feel like it was priced right and I got my money's worth.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2015After breaking multiple apple slicers in one year my spouse and I decided to get this. We have had it for months and it still looks and works as good as it did when we first got it. I bake from home and make a lot of apple pies so this is used a lot. Great purchase!
Update: It's September 28, 2016 now and this apple slicer is still in perfect condition! We use it multiple times a week.
Update: It's August 22, 2017 and apple slicer is still going strong! It gets used almost every day.
Update: It's March 27, 2018 and it is in perfect condition with daily use.
Update: It's April 23, 2019 and the slicer is still working great! We still use it almost daily.
Update: It's October 29th, 2019 and the slicer is as sharp as always and is used multiple times a day (more kids!). We had a visitor who used it and soaked it in the sink for a few hours. We don't do this. We wash it immediately after use and leave it to dry. We occasionally run it through the dishwasher for a deep clean. I noticed the beginnings of rust in the nooks and crannies around the center after the soaking. I'll keep you posted! I'm not worried.
Update: It’s July 1, 2020 and many things are going wrong this year, but not this apple slicer. I told you I wasn’t worried. After a good clean we don’t think there was rust but it seemed more like old apple that our guest didn’t rinse off. I scrubbed and it looks as good as new. Used it today!
Update: It’s May 4th, 2021 and we’ve spent the last year homeschooling- which means lots of apples sliced for snacks. I’m wondering if I should name the apple slicer since we’ve had it longer than at least one of our kids. It’s still rust free and going strong.
Update: It’s May 25th, 2022 and I’ve got a riddle for you: What’s the opposite of a lemon?…… This apple slicer! *Ba Dum Tssshhh* See ya next year folks! (It’s still awesome)
Update: It’s October 1st, 2023 and I am eating an apple. A sliced apple. We just went apple picking so our apple slicer is getting even more use this month! It still works great.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2016Snow season was over. I had to find something to replace the snowballs I threw at random people on the street. It had to be something of the same shape. It had to be something not too dangerous like a rock, but also not too soft like toilet paper. It was a tough one.
I was sitting under the same tree Isaac Newton once sat under in Central Park, when suddenly an apple fell on my head. Eureka! Sometimes in life, answers to the hardest questions get handed over to you if you have a little patience and luck. Apples! That’s what I would throw. Not only apples are fairly soft, they are also very healthy and nutritious, as they are packed with vitamins, iron, and calcium. In a way I would be giving away free food while still sharing and enjoying good laughs with total strangers.
To my surprise not many people wanted to keep or eat the apple I threw at them. I got a mixed set of reactions. Some people would laugh. Some people would throw the apple back. Some people would run away. Some people would come at me, but I’d just tell them “bro it’s just a prank” and we’d be all good. Not too bad of an idea I must say. But it was getting expensive; too many apples and too little money. This is where this brilliant apple slicer came into play.
This spectacular apple chopper will effectively chop an apple into 8 pieces, leaving its core as a little extra bonus. This allows me to throw 1 apple, to 9 different people. Talk about efficiency. In addition to that, by tossing just part of the apple, I would essentially be tossing less of a mass, equating to less of a force upon impact on my fellow New Yorkers. Newton would be proud.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2012My old apple slicer was 15 years old and needed to be replaced, so I started reading reviews on Amazon to help me choose a replacement.
I bought this Calphalon Easy Grip Apple slicer because most of the reviews mentioned that it's very sharp and had held up well. I've had Calphalon products and have liked their quality and long lives. Every year I can apple butter and apple pie filling, and dehydrate apple slices, so I needed a slicer that would hold up to doing two bushels of apples at a time.
This slicer did a great job on this year's apples - it sliced even large apples quickly and neatly, although the center core part should have been slightly larger to avoid leaving any seeds in the slices. The handles are angled just right for maximum slicing power without getting fingers in the way. It washed nicely after use and stayed sharp, and none of the blades came loose the way some reviewers' slicers did.
My only complaint is that this apple slicer is huge! It's 7.5 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and nearly 3 inches tall. Most of the size is in the rubberized plastic handles. It's too big to store in a kitchen drawer. If I had been able to see it in person, I would probably have gotten one of the flat metal ones like the one I am replacing.
This is a nice apple slicer and I think it will stand up to heavy use for years, but I'll have to find somewhere to store it other than a drawer.

Great slicer even for larger apples.

1.0 out of 5 stars This simply doesn’t work!
This Apple Corer/Slicer is the worst item I have ever purchased. It is so blunt that it is virtually useless. It is not fit for purpose - the amount of force needed to cut through the apple is ridiculous and even if you manage to do so the apple is left bruised and torn, certainly not sliced.

Great apple slicer. Would highly recommend. Very comfortable to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product.
I have been looking for this for a long time. Most of these apple cutter corners are not sharp enough. Anyone with arthritis in their hands, know's how hard it is to peel and cut an apple. This is "WONDERFULLY EASY TO USE." Well worth it.
