Welcome to total sonic freedom - We wouldn't say something as cliche as “The best just got better”... it did though. Based off the popular original Turtle Shell, the 2.0 brings more volume, more Hi-Fi audio, more battery life and a plethora of other feature improvements over its predecessor. Most speakers look like a shoe box with pin holes in it. Outdoor Tech's design focused team wouldn't allow anything of the sort and instead created the patented signature trianglethemed construction providing omnidirectional room filling audio, a design aesthetic appropriate for architectural digest and construction built for the Appalachian trail. Could not love this product more. I work at a waterpark and I often come in early to check the slides, etc. I always wanted to have music with me but I couldn't have something too loud and if was on my person it had to be water resistant. The Turtle Shell is perfect. Now I can clip it onto a make-shift belt and if it gets sprayed with water while I'm on the aquatic floor I don't need to worry about my device. Super bonus: I pair this to my phone which is in a waterproof case, meaning I don't have to worry too much at all about the environment I'm in.

Outside of that very specific use, I love the Turtle Shell at home too. It can easily fill a couple of rooms full of music or be just loud enough to listen to some music before bed. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile but I am quite picky about my tunes and this guy delivers. The only time I've had it not be able to keep up was when it was on full volume and a very low bass part came on in a song. Couldn't quite take the low Hz on that noise level. This is a rare problem and doesn't effect my listening at all.

Maybe a little pricey but where else are you going to find a drop-proof, dust-proof, water-resistant boom box that can fit in your hand?

Although I just received this thing yesterday I am blown away by the quality of the build and the very impressive sound. It is hard to believe that you can get such a full range, quality sound from such a small device! And it is very loud if you want it to be! What I like most about it is particular to my application. I have clip on Aero bars on my ancient road bike. This compact little unit fits perfectly in-between the 2 bars going forward. I was able to secure it to the Aero bars with 1 viton o-ring. The o-ring holds it very solid. It does not move around at all. I have my Samsung Galaxy S5 mounted on a "Quad-Lock" assembly directly above head tube and stem. The "Turtle Shell" speaker fits perfectly right underneath the phone (literally an inch away). This makes for a perfect Bluetooth connection.

The controls are logically placed and easy to operate. Pairing is intuitive and easy. The only downside I have found so far is the Bluetooth connection can be a little sketchy if you put your phone in your backpack and your speaker is on the handlebars. It doesn't seem like that would be a problem since the phone is only a couple of feet from the speaker, but it seems to have trouble transmitting through a human body (and I'm really not that fat!). My wife has the same problem with her "Buckshot" speaker (also manufactured by Outdoor Tech) and she is super fit! Other than that, it's fantastic. I will update if I run into any problems down the road.

Speaker does well most of the time, though have had serious issues with bluetooth range. Will walk 10ft from speaker with bluetoothed phone in my pocket and music will cut out. Seriously dissappointing as part of the draw for this speaker is that it can go where my phone cant (water proof + wireless) but i find myself leaving my phone right next to it to ensure the signal doesnt drop. And i mnow it isnt my phone, as i use it with cheap bluetooth headphones at the gym. The phone stays in my bag and i can walk 30-40 ft away and not miss a beat.

Seriously dissappointing performance based on advertised bluetooth range. Would be awesome speaker if this issue were fixed.

I was anxious to use this speaker after reading all the great reviews. I bought this speaker to use in my car with my iPod/hands free calling on my phone. It works. It plays music and works well with my phone and is durable. That's about all the good things I have to say about it. I was disappointed with the sound it produced. I keep it on my dash and have trouble with the volume being too low with music and with phone calls.The speaker vibrates even on low volume, and may contribute to the low volume quality. I'm not sure if there might be something wrong with mine, but it seems to have trouble connecting via bluetooth. I have to disconnect my iPod and reconnect on a frequent basis. Bottom line, 3 stars for doing what it was designed to do, but I would not recommend purchasing this wireless speaker.

I have had this radio for a few months now. I use it every weekend around a bonfire, or when I work in the garage and yard. I took it up to my cabin up north where my brother and his buddy ended up getting one of their own because they were so impressed. I used to use one of those large Milwaukee Tools radios everywhere I go, but that is big and bulky. This one is not. I haven't tested the full 16 hour battery life, but I've gotten close. Yes, when your phone is on full volume and this radio is on full volume, you might hear slight distortion on only a few songs. I found the lower quality MP3 songs on my phone were the culprits. The sound quality is crisp, the size it perfect, and everyone who sees it comments on how cool it is. It's not a room, blaster, but it's got enough sound to play around the party of people. I also like the camera threads on back. We've mounted this thing on a golf cart, Kawasaki Mule, and even on a boat. I now wish I didn't replace my marine FM radio last year. I could have easily have just used this.

The turtle came neatly packaged and very quickly.

The item description is nicely written and easily understandable.

The turtle itself is a very light item. It is very compact, feels and actually is, absolutely durable.

Pairing via Bluetooth is super easy, simply turn it on and press the middle button to start the pairing. The power button will blink blue and red while it is available for pairing.

Gorgeous, bass loaded sound will come out of this small gadget every time you turn it on and my gosh the volume you can put it on in incredible!

Lowering the bass via equalizer (of your paired item) on high volume is suggested because it will clip a bit if not.

The battery life is not a lie at all and absolutely incredible. Recharging happens within 3 hours or so.

As it has IP65 only it is not suggested to submerge it in water but humidity and even a bucket of water being emptied over the turtle won't break it.

It can catch dust quite easily if you have a lot of it around so I'd not use it next to a saw or other dust creating machines at your work place for example but I haven't had any issues otherwise.

I can only recommend the purchase of the turtle!
