- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2015This book is my current favorite (until Toyko & Paris arrive)! Fun & relaxing for me, & pretty exciting for elementary school girls (they loved the bikinis/bras & panties with various cosmetic items on the facing page. "Look at all the pretty dresses!")
This artist does really gorgeous illustrations, (not too pristine, perfect or precious: my issue with the top-selling coloring book series). You can see from the front cover, the windows & bricks are drawn a little rough or rustic. The landscapes are a wee bit "rough" like this,& I mean this as a high compliment. I find it far more appealing and relaxing than the most popular coloring books :)
It's a very cool book just to read in black & white. There are wonderful series of items to enjoy: assorted candies, insects, kinds of ice cream treats, cameras, sewing items, fruit, kitchen items, shoes, teapots, eyeglasses, handbags, sweaters, chairs, birds, and so on. Many of the "variety of items" pages face a huge single item from the variety, or a page of geometric patterns. Some of them face a page which depicts a landscape/landmark, or other outdoor scene (a row of houses, random city scenes).
It's simply a fascinating book.
I'm glad both sides of the page are illustrated. I use pencils & this presents no problem. The girls used Pipsqueaks markers which may bleed through a little bit, but what's the worst case scenario here? I have to buy another copy!
I pre-ordered, & can't wait to get Secret NY & Secret Tokyo! I hope Zoe de Las Cases continues to crank out these wonderful books.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2015This coloring book is great for any down time I may have.I really enjoy the intricate designs and unique pictures that are offered in this book. The cover is a little bit sturdier than traditional coloring books and the pages are not perforated to ensure that none of the pages can be accidentally ripped out. Please note that you can only use colored pencils in this book, which is fine by me. Also, Amazon has the best price for this brand of coloring books by far. After I am finished, I am going to utilize this book as a coffee table book because it is such great quality and a great piece to have in a room.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2015This is the most beautiful coloring book ever! It has so many cute little beauty and fashion type of pages to color with makeup, perfume, etc. The pages are completely filled and lots of the pages have a theme... So there are many bottles of perfume on one page, many shoes on one page, many makeup items on one page, a page with dresses, hats, glasses etc. There are many Paris themed pages too, of course. Many cute streets in Paris, cute french tea pots, cooking items. It's so perfect for girly girls, so sophisticated and elegant. I feel like it's honestly too pretty for me to ruin with my messy coloring so I kind of want to scan them and print and color. SOOOOO CUTE!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2015I bought “Secret Paris” to give as a gift, so I can’t say exactly what tools would work best for coloring. The book is 9.75 inches square. Illustrations are printed on both sides of the paper, which is not flimsy, but I expect very wet ink, such as markers, would bleed through it. There are 87 pages to color. Printing on both sides of the page makes some sense, not only because it allows for more pictures, but often a large, less detailed picture is printed on the lefthand page and a collage of smaller, more detailed drawings on the same theme on the facing page. There are also 17 “wallpaper” designs featured on the lefthand pages, for those who like to color geometric patterns.
The subjects featured in the drawings are of a quaint, feminine Paris. The artist, Zoé de las Cases, is an artistic director at a creative agency in the city. There are 23 pages of buildings, 11 of clothing, 8 of food, 6 of kitchen and household items, 2 of perfume bottles, 2 of birds, and collages of many other common items, like cameras, insects, and chairs. The larger drawings, especially those of buildings, are rendered somewhat imprecisely, like rough sketches. The level of detail varies, but it requires some creativity on the colorist’s part to give the buildings texture and detail, which may not appeal to everyone. The smaller drawings, usually presented in collages, are more intricate.
The nice thing about the variety of styles and sizes is that, if you are in the mood to use big strokes, you can color the big pages, while the collages offer a the opportunity to color small details. If you want to color something intricate, try the floral wallpaper, cameras, or insects. The clothing is among the most detailed subject. I get the impression that the artist really enjoys drawing clothing and accessories. The small objects in the collages are nice, because they can be completed fairly quickly. If you would rather not embark on a big project, just color a fruit or a handbag. There is something for everyone here, in terms of size and style, which is the book’s strength.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2020I enjoy coloring this book. It has a variety of pages filled with buildings, geometric patterns, and small objects. The pages of small objects definitely requires detailed coloring. The pages are not meant for super wet media however I am using watercolors to paint with. The pages will definitely warp with watercolors. I attached pics of the pages I colored with watercolors.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2020The reason I bought this specific coloring book is because it has my married family name in it! Even though that was the reason, I’m so happy with this book. The pages are thick and some have a lot of detail and others don’t. I quickly found out how long those detailed ones really take, so having the simpler ones is nice when you have just fifteen minutes to relax.

4.0 out of 5 stars Verträumte Motive, beidseitig bedruckt, gute Qualität
Wirkliche Geheimnisse habe ich in "Secret Paris. Color your Way to Calm" nicht entdecken können, dafür aber einige schöne verträumte Motive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Refreshing Colouring Book
The media could not be loaded.
If you are only interested in colouring in mandalas and flowers - this book isn't for you. If you want to colour in a variety of different architecture, fashion designs and pretty pictures - this book is definitely made for you!
I love flipping through the pages of this book and admiring the beautiful images. It is full of classic Parisian architecture, fashion designs, quirky patterns and pretty portraits. It is very unique and unlike the popular colouring books that are all the rage right now. Once I have coloured in several pages in this book, I plan to buy another book by the same author, perhaps the one about New York or Tokyo.
If you are only interested in colouring in mandalas and flowers, this book might not be for you. Otherwise, I highly suggest giving this book a shot. I found that it was a refreshing change from my other colouring books. Highly recommend!
