Now there’s an all new series of deluxe, extra large silicone ice trays. Coming to you from a galaxy far, far away, is the R2-D2 DX Silicone Ice Tray. Perfect for everything from family fun to Star Wars themed parties, this handy tray lets you capture ice, chocolate, jelly, or anything else you can think of in the familiar shape of everyone’s favorite astromech droid. Accurately replicating the look of R2-D2 from all of the Star Wars films, the sturdy silicone is both heat and ice resistant making it almost as durable as the droid himself. The new Deluxe-sized blue mold creates a single R2 ice cube that is three times larger than what comes out of the previous R2-D2 silicone tray, the Deluxe version stands nearly 10" tall. The DX silicone trays are the perfect complement to the Lightsaber Chopsticks (sold separately).

    Great mold, it holds 4 cups of liquid, I measured it when making gelatin in it. Please use a Little bit of non-stick spray to help in the de-molding process.
    I tried to bake a cake on it, but I used the wrong cake mix (I'll try with a pound cake mix, and update), but the mold came out without damage so it really does hold against the heat.

    I used this for a new idea we've been working on: a giant s'more. Our first one didn't turn out so great, as the chocolate was too soft. However, this tray does well in that the release is fairly easy, and it's dishwasher safe. I only wish they made a version of R2's "back" for a 360 degree finished product. I have not tested this in the oven.

    I'm not sure what to believe. Other reviews say that they have baked with this product, and it says in the title that it's a cake mold, but when I received it in the mail, the instructions came with it says not to expose it to high temperatures. I have no problem with all of my other silicon molds so I did a quick test to find out why this one is different. If you peel back the blue outside, you'll see that there is a white, plastic casing on the inside that could melt under high temperatures if exposed to too much heat. It's NOT pure silicone. Despite the description here stating that it can be used as a cake mold, the instructions that come with the product say not to expose it to heat, and I personally wouldn't risk it. It makes a good ice mold and can probably be used for jello with great results, but I would be extremely careful when choosing to bake with it. Very disappointed since that's what I bought it for, but it's not worth the risk.

    I got this R2D2 cake mold to make a birthday cake for my wife (who is a big Star Wars fan). After reading the reviews, I wasn't sure if this would do well with cake mix, but for the price, I decided to go for it and hope for the best. Keep in mind, I don't bake. I'm a pretty good cook, just not a baker. I used a Duncan Hines Red Velvet cake mix and it turned out AWESOME! Keep in mind, it took a little longer to full bake than the instructions on the box told me, but it came right out of the mold, showing the details of R2D2 and everything! I would definitely recommend this product! Yes, it says "Don't use in hot temperatures" on the box, but at 325 degrees, it was just fine. Easy to wash afterwards too!
