- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2013This cap is awesome. It's not too bulky at all, and I wear it in temperatures from the mid 20s all the way up to the high 40s/low 50s. It's windproof but it's not too insulated, so it breathes well. I have a pretty big head (hat size 7 3/8) and it fits well, although it feels a little bit like wearing a swim cap. It's long enough that it covers my ears and forehead, which is what I was looking for. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2013I have a big head (7 3/4" fitted caps) and read reviews on this cap that says it fits. Sure enough, the stretchy material does allow it to fit comfortably and cover the tops of my ears without it being uncomfortable. It is definitely thicker and warmer than their transfer cap while not being too thick to make putting on my bike helmet problematic. Highly recommended!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2016It is a good beanie. Not much to say about it. Made of decent thermal wicking fabric. Probably works for 40+ temps. Comfy and breathable. Pearl Izumi quality.
One thing is that sizing is for a bigger head. I have a pea sized noggin ( no brains, but that's another story) and it is big. Size of my head is 6 ³/⁴".
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2013I wear a 2XL motorcycle helmet and an XL downhill cycling helmet, so I suppose you could say that I have a large 'noggin. This fits reasonably well, but it's hard to get it to stay down over my ears once I start moving. It's a great, warm cap that does the job, I just wish PI had another size up available as an option.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2014I've used this, comfortably, down to the mid-thirties. That's even a little better than I expected when I bought it.
Update: one day later, down to the upper-twenties. Still just fine; didn't have me itching to put the balaclava on. I also forgot to mention that I've worn it in rain before, and haven't found my head getting wet.
Update 2: a few days later. Ok down to mid-twenties (for two hours), and fine there. One thing did occur to me; it might be that this is a good cycling cap, and a bad running one. I noticed that my helmet's straps hold the ears in place, and that might be why it works well for some, and not for others.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2018I like to mountain bike year round. I honestly start wearing this around 55 degrees and have used it as low as 14 degrees. It does not keep me 'hot' but it keeps the cold wind out of my ears. What I really like about it my helmet still fits the way a helmet should. I do have to rotate the adjustment 1-2 clicks, but with modern helmets that is a piece of cake,
It is unisex and the ladies will like that there is a place to pull a pony tail through.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2014I've had this since Nov '12. I have a 7 1/2 head and this does not fit- it won't go below my ears without stretching hard, and then it doesn't keep its shape. Not one size fits all! The cap slips around my head under my bike helmet. It keeps my head warm, but not my ears, which this should fit over.
I don't know if this is a guy's skull cap either: there's a slit in the back for a pony tail. I don't get this gear.
Great idea, but I would recommend avoiding it. Get a helmet with no vents for cold weather.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2015I wore this first time out on a short 10-minute ride at 40-degrees and my head and ears were chilled before I was even halfway done. The thermal fabric may make for a good base layer for something else, but I only start wearing a skullcap if it's below 45 degrees.
I immediately returned this and got the Barrier variant of the same skull cap. Much better buy, see my review on that product page.
Last note, fits very tight on a 7 3/4 size head, even with short hair.
