- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2012I have been a runner for the last twenty years. I'm not a fast runner, nor do I run super far. I typically run between three and six miles each session at about 5.5 mph. I have been wanting to try a "zero drop" or "barefoot" shoe for quite some time now, and finally took the plunge with the Pace. My first run left me with severe blisters on the backs of each foot--I expected this. I had run about 2.5 miles when the blisters formed, and continued another half mile. I had to wait almost a week for the blisters to heal. On the second running session, I was able to run 3.5 miles, blisters formed, and I kept going another .5. A week later I ran again, and this time did not form any blisters at all. This is pretty much what I expected. My feet are now used to the Pace!
These shoes feel GREAT. They are super comfortable, light-weight, and flexible. Furthermore, I am convinced that my running efficiency is far better with these shoes than with any other running shoes I have owned over the last twenty years. My form is better, my breathing is better, my gate is smoother. I'm convinced it's because of the shoe! I cannot say enough good things about them! Finally, I found my shoe!!
People who seemed to give negative reviews maybe did not understand what exactly they were purchasing?? Do NOT purchase these shoes simply because they are cute (and they are indeed cute). Do not purchase these shoes and try to wear socks with them. They are not made for that! Do not purchase these shoes and expect your foot to easily slide in...duh, it's why they are called Pace "Glove"--they fit like a glove. Yes, they are tricky to get into, but once they are on, they are great. Do not purchase these shoes if you're expecting arch support, or the like. This is not what they are designed for.
I am a true 8.5, and I purchased an 8.5. My feet are probably on the wider side (very slight), and these shoes fit perfectly! ...plenty of room for my toes! The only place I got blisters was on the heel, and that problem is gone now. This shoe is sooooo comfortable.
Pros:
1. Super cute!
2. They actually do stay dry--feet do not sweat in them.
3. Comfortable
4. Super light-weight
Cons:
1. If you run on a treadmill, they are louder than a "normal" running shoe.
2. If you run extreme distances -- more than 8 miles at a time, you're feet may ache a little. But that's just a hunch on my part. It could just be my old feet!
I will DEFINITELY purchase this shoe again.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2013Bought them last June and wore them for about 8 months. They were very comfortable and I really liked the fit. However, I started getting extremely bad heel pain after my runs as well first thing the next morning after my run. I was diagnosed with Plantar fasciitis, as these shoes do not offer significant arch support. I now use a neutral shoe with orthotic inserts. Please check with a podiatrist if you have weak arches, as these are not the shoes for you. But love the colours, and wish my new ones looked as pretty.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2012This review was intended to inform others who have similar feet as mine. I understand a lot of people love this shoe. Like most things it's just not built for everyone. It would probably fit most people but not all.
I really wanted to love these shoes. Even before it arrived, I was prepared to fall in love with this. I have extremely high arches. Most of the time, I have to really loosen the laces to get my foot in. I tried these in my regular size 5.5 and a size 6. Both were way too difficult to slip in.
It's just the way the shoe was designed. the laces have to go through the loops that are attached to the tongue of the shoe. That means, you can't really loosen it up much at all to get your foot in. It's more like a slip on. So if you have high arches, which usually means you're mid-foot is "thicker" because of the arch, this won't be a comfortable shoe. Or at least it'll be hard to put on. Other than that, the shoe itself is very flexible, very light, and which is why I wished it did fit.
On the other hand, my aunty who has very low arches/almost flat feet, thought it was very comfortable. So I think people with neutral arches, low arches, and flat feet will be fine in these.
My search for the perfect pair of shoes continues. For now, I'm wearing Reebok RealFlex Cross trainers.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2012Love the coloring, look, feel and weight of these shoes. Bought them to run a mud race in because of ease of washing. Tested them out by walking 2 miles with my girls on a flat surface and my knee started hurting before I was done. I have problems with my foot tending to roll out which causes knee pain and these forced it to come on quicker than ever. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH YOUR FOOT ROLLING OUT THESE ARE AWESOME Shoes. If you do look for another option!
