He is about 1' 3/4" sitting, around 1' 9" laid down straight. Similar like what we see on screen to me!

I think its fine if the child likes elmo...or hugs:)

The age range say 18 month to 4 year old. My 5 year old boy said he wanted this toy for his Birthday. He still like Elmo but he like lego Iron Man and Minions more than this toy. One pros is that at age 5, he knows how to be a bit more gentle with toy so we don't have to worry too much of Elmo being broken. Our daughter 9 and other son 7 likes Elmo more than our 5 year old but our 2 year old is not interested in this toy. It really depend on a child (if he like Elmo or not) no matter the age.

Yes 5 is too old for this toy ... unless of course you want your kid to stay a baby... then 5 is not too old...5 year olds should have a Nook from Walmart to help them read and develop ... I have a 2 yr. old grandson that is very advanced because of the Nook ...I know you didnt ask that ... just thought i would offer incite

The way the toy is built, I would say that 5 may be too young. My 2 1/2 yr old gave it lock jaw immediately and it was just a little bear hug.

My 2 year old daughter is in absolute love with her Big Hugs Elmo, besides always wanting to hug him she also loves falling to sleep to the song he sings which is a big plus for me! :) Our only problem is every time she takes Elmo with her cousins they fight over him so we might have to buy one for an upcoming birthday haha. Also his arms are a little delicate but still go very strong!

I am so excited about this Elmo! Not only does he sing and speak over 50 phrases but he HUGS too. I was worried at first that the arms were too flimsy to withstand the hugging power of my two year old, but Elmo is doing just fine! He has barely been put down since arriving and is a huge part of our family. My favourite part is when you lay Elmo down he starts singing a lullaby then snores and talks in his sleep! Way too cute!

Excellent Elmo hugging toy for toddlers

I bought this Elmo for a mentally challenged adult. I'm a therapist and have been working with this individual for months. Nothing was working to get any kind of a response from him. He recoiled from most human contact as well. When, I saw Big Hugs Elmo I thought why not see if he will respond to positive touch from a machine/doll. Well, Elmo has been a big hit. My client is smiling, responsive, and gives Elmo big hugs back. There is still a long road ahead, but Elmo gave us a big step forward.

Wonderful Toy!

I bought two of these the same week. One I gave to my granddaughter for Halloween and we were amazed how much she loved it. It could talk, snore and hug. We were so impressed with this toy as grandparents that we ordered a second one and had it sent to another grandchild for Xmas. It sold for $20 less than a big retail store.and shipped for free. Unbelievable!

Wonderful Toy

I got Elmo for my grand daughter's first birthday, she dances to the lullaby and rocks Elmo as he sings, it was well worth what I paid for it, the joy she has had with Elmo, he is soft and his body parts move such as his mouth and arms, the interactions Elmo gives to her is wonderful. she pushes him up against her he hugs her and sings. I would recommend him to any child....

great Toy for a child

I wasn't sure what to expect out of this new Elmo but my son loves it and since I bought this for him, it's all that matters. True the arms feel a little flimsy but they have survived his numerous throws and are still going strong. Elmo's voice is fine in my opinion. He's loud enough for a kid hugging him and holding him close. One of the cutest reactions is when Elmo is placed upside down and when he's put on sleep mode, my son sleeps along with him.

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS ELMO HUGS ME DOLL. iT IS WAY TO DELICATE FOR THE RECOMMENDED AGE GROUP. THE CONCEPT IS GREAT BUT THE ARMS ARE TOO FLIMSY!!!! YOUNG TODDLERS CARRY THINGS (TOYS) NATURALLY BY THE ARMS OR LEGS. THE ELMO ARMS ARE TOO DELICATE AND THE DOLL WILL NOT LAST LONG WHICH IT IS EXPECTED TO BE MORE DURABLE FOR WHAT IT COST. I'M AFRAID MY 3 YR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WILL HAVE THE ARMS INOPPERABLE IN THE FIRST FEW DAYS OF NORMAL USE.

I was very disappointed in the quality of this ELMO. Playskool is usually a quality product. My 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter loved her Elmo but toddlers don't understand they can't carry a doll by the arms. They also want to sleep with their head on his arm. Another no no. I will be surprised if this toy last a month and Nikki is not a rough little girl. It was a great idea but needs to be more toddler friendly. The things he says and the hugs are priceless. I feel bad for my daughter when she has to explain Elmo is broken.
