I love this Chromebook and could not be happier with this purchase. I loved it so much when I first got it that I had to buy another one for the family. We all are enjoying it very much! When my laptop died I needed a new one fast and searched for days for the right one. I came across this Chromebook and read all of the reviews and was really happy with all the great comments and also took into consideration some of the negatives as well. Having never owned a Chromebook I was not sure what to expect and must say that I like it better than my laptop. I love how super light this chromebook is but does not feel cheap at all. The cover is a really nice matte white and after owning it for 7 months there have been no scuffs or marks on the cover. The screen has a good sharp resolution which is great for watching movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime. The keyboard is perfect for typing and to this date none of us have had any problems with any of the keys. The mouse pad works great too. Charging only takes about 30 minutes and it stays charged for about 15 hours, give or take. I can watch many movies before needing to recharge again. With my laptop I could not do this at all, so to me this is a super benefit. I really love how it never produces any heat like a laptop and also does not freeze up either. There are many benefits to owning a Chromebook for sure! Because it is nice and light I can take it with me wherever I go.     I read the reviews and knew to expect a web-browsing only computer, but that is really all I needed it for! I didn't want to sink two grand into a Mac Book (I love the design) when all I'd be doing is coasting the net and watching movies in bed. This unit is super fast, doesn't overheat and boots up in literal seconds. You hit the power button and in a blink your log in screen is on. The log in links with your Google account(s) and thus downloads any and all of your bookmarks previously linked with that account. You can work on your budget within the Google Drive spreadsheet, save it on the cloud and then download it into Excel at work, if need be. Also it has Bluetooth connectivity, so you can link it to other devices (like my shower speaker for seamless music listening).

    Honestly, if you aren't a hard-core PC gamer, or someone who utilizes much software offline, this is the computer for you. I know most of us now just browse our social media, Amazon, etc...so why sink 2K in Apple, when this computer mimics the low profile, sleek look of the Mac Book?

    I have had this for a month now, and have not had any issue (as mentioned by others) with the keyboard. I will update this review if and when that occurs.

    ---UPDATE 4 mos later--

    Unfortunately i have lost use of 3 keys, which makes typing impossible. Buy the protection plan.

    Cons:
    - not a laptop. run apps, and in-browser everything, pretty much. This is a Google machine
    - no data. This is pretty much the only reason I dropped it from 5-stars. The previous Chromebook 14 had 4G, and this one doesn't have data. It also looks like it dropped from 4 GB RAM to 2 GB RAM which isn't really noticeable, but just seems like a downgrade

    If you're just going to web-browser, e-mail, type some documents, view some pdfs, do some basic spreadsheet work, and stream a show or two, this is it. Great battery life, light, sleek looking, plenty of things to like.

    If you want to use Skype, you're out of luck. Google Spreadsheets is powerful, but it's no Excel. Have fun installing any sort of program on here as well - no luck in that department.

    I have had a macbook since I was in college, and I loved it. When it finally died, my initial urge was to purchase a macbook air because of how much I loved my former apple laptop and of course the sleek design is pretty convenient. However, the $900 price tag felt like a little too much for a 20-something with student loan payments, rent, and other expenses on a non profit salary. I start researching other options, and realized a chromebook would suit my needs - when I use my computer to work from home, I always use google drive so I can easily access my files from the office or home, and beyond that there isn't much that I need other than internet access. I am not a gamer or a designer, so the Chromebook has everything that I need! I ordered this particular chromebook because of the slim and lightweight design that I found so attractive in the macbook air. I couldn't be happier that I took the chance! I love this machine, it is quick and the operating system is so easy to use. I haven't come across a single limitation yet after two weeks of use.

    At the same time, I purchased one for my mother who is very, very bad with technology (she once tried to give me her email password when I asked for the wi-fi password). She only needs a computer for online banking and bill payments, facebook and playing some games. She lives in a different city so I was a little worried when I sent it to her but she had absolutely no problem getting it set up and jumping right into use on her own. She loves how easy it is to use and I don't have to worry about her complaining several months from now about slowing speed or viruses that she accidentally downloaded.

    I would recommend this to any average user who is looking for a new laptop with a low price tag!
