Product Description

If you're a serious gamer or professional graphic artist, you need a seriously good monitor and you won't find much better than this 27" IPS-ZERO-G Monitor from Monoprice The heart of this monitor is the brilliant display panel made by LG. This panel features a maximum brightness level of 440cd/m, a tight 2560x1440 maximum resolution, and up to 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. It features a 178 viewing angle in both the horizontal and vertical planes. The monitor is primarily intended for use with the Dual Link DVI-D interface, but a VGA interface is included as a backup The display is housed in an ultra-thin bezel with a glossy glass, anti-glare laminate that extends to the very edge of the bezel, for a clean, modern appearance. Responding to criticisms monitor's casing, we've upgrade it to an all metal case. The fixed plastic stand was replaced with a heavy-duty metal reinforced stand, which can be detached by removing a single screw. The monitor also sports a 100x100 VESA mounting pattern, making it compatible with most wall and desk mounts We also improved the interface to the monitor in two ways. First, we moved the connectors from the bottom of the panel, which offered too little room for maneuver, to the side, which makes it much easier to see and access the connections. We also improved the menu control buttons by making them larger, with greater spacing, and made the power button a different shape so that it is easy to distinguish by feel alone As with the previous model, we are standing behind this monitor with a 5-dead-pixel warranty for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase.

Not a reliable monitor

Not a reliable monitor
The monitor looks good but it randomly flickers and eventually goes to a grey screen. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it work again. My boss ordered the same monitor and had a similar issue and had to have it replaced.

    Pros:
    Great resolution.

    No dead pixels.

    Easy setup.

    Cons:
    Colors aren't great.

Glass panel was separating from body at top. This is worse than the item description would have you think. As in, there's a gap between the entire top line of the monitor. As in, the glass is falling off.

The worst part of this item is that the included AC adapter in my unit ran incredibly hot and hissed at a volume audible across the house. There is nowhere I can buy a replacement part for this faulty piece that made me paranoid enough to think my house was about to burn down. After contacting Amazon, I was told I could have a replacement unit or a partial refund for the adapter so that I could buy another one (which doesn't exist).

I am returning this item for a full refund less than 2 hours after receipt. Buyer beware. These are "defective" panels made by LG for Apple's Cinema Displays that Monoprice just slaps a new finish on and ships out. Getting a perfect working model is like finding a needle in a haystack.

After my chat with Amazon, and the pure lack of support or empathy I was shown, I am strongly considering terminating my Prime account and sticking solely with Newegg for my electronics needs.

This screen was great for a year and 3 months, but a few days ago it suddenly stopped working only displays a blank screen with vertical lines. The warranty only covers a year, so I'm pretty much S.O.L.

If you are looking for a good, reasonably priced 1440p monitor, this is a great choice.

    The Good:
    - Good build quality
    - Feels and looks good (mostly metal body)
    - Great viewing angles (as with most IPS panels)
    - Has more than DVI input
    - Bright and vibrant colors

    The Bad:
    - Uneven light distribution (lighting is noticeably brighter around the edges than in the middle)
    - Freakishly bright back-light (even turned down to the bottom of its brightness settings it is brighter than my old panel)
    - Stand wobbles and, in general isn't very good.

For the price this is no doubt the best 1440p monitor out there right now. Many of the problems listed with this monitor are problems consistent with IPS panels, and should not discourage you too much. Just be mindful of them when considering your choices.

I can't believe this isn't more talked about. What an awesome monitor.

    Pros:
-It's a 1440P monitor that costs hundreds less than namebrands.
    - I actually really like the look. Most of it is aluminum and it feels very solidly built.
-Picture is very good. No dead pixels. Calibrated with windows and I was good to go.
-Good gaming wise. I am not hardcore to say the least, but there was no input lag that I could detect.

    Cons:
-Slight backlight bleed in the corners but it doesn't bother me.
-Something on the bottom of the stand scratched my desk when I moved the monitor. Be careful. I cut out some cardboard and taped it to the bottom.
    - On screen display is kind of wierd. The buttons are located on the back of the monitor and it takes a couple of minutes to get oriented.
-HUGE power brick! Takes up space on the desk.

Overall: An incredible monitor for the price. Basically an apple monitor with a different logo. Obviously Monoprice can't slap this price tag on it and boast the same quality control (hence the backlight bleed) but if you go into it willing to compromise the little things you won't be disappointment. The good outweighs the bad. I hope this helps. Keep up the good work monoprice!

I normally don't get upset at defective products b/c with mass produced items, it just happens sometimes, but this time I am upset. This is the third time in a row that I have paid for next day shipping, twice getting a defective product, once having shipping delayed for a week (giving the 1st defective product a second chance after months of contemplation). Aside from that, I was already disappointed after purchasing a fourth surround sound receiver from a local major electronics chain, just to have it not function properly, so I was hoping at least my new monitor would work. No, it was dead on arrival. No standby led light, no power light, no monitor turn on; nothing. After spending 20 minutes pressing the power button and removing/reinserting the power brick from the monitor and the plug from the surge protector in futility, I slumped to the garage to get my multimeter. The power connector outputs 14.5 volts on two pins, -2.0 volts on the other two. I may research that if I can, to be sure the voltages are correct, b/c I've never owned a device with one of those 4 pin plugs, but at any rate, I've already initiated the return process. So after a lengthy debate on whether to order a monitor online and save money on a very nice looking panel, or spend much more to purchase a different brand in store, I fear I made the wrong choice. What's worse is there is no way to exchange it, I simply have to get a refund and purchase another (but I don't think I'm doing that). Yet another disappointing weekend wherein I try to spend a little money on myself for once, just to be disappointed, not once, but TWICE IN THE SAME WEEKEND! I've bought quite a few things from Monoprice, but never any actual electronics. I'm having second thoughts about getting that guitar now, b/c what I hate more than defective products, is driving to the UPS Store to return said product, and then wait for a refund. I know I complained about another purchase within this review, but the bottom line is I have a dead monitor that I now have to disassemble and repack, taking more care than the assembly worker who built this thing. I'm going to box this up, take back the surround sound receiver I bought, and then I'm going to Microcenter to pay $150 extra for an Asus 1440p monitor that I can check in the store before I make the 30 mile trip back home. I'm just about done ordering electronics online.
