- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2014I got these as a gift cause they sounded pretty cool. So far they don't get used all that often however, they do look nice (except if you want them REALLY nice you need to either use distilled or boil up some water then let it cool and pour it in to get that completely clear look). It is slightly difficult getting some out of the tray but because its a type of rubber it pops out if you push on the back. I just feel like I might rip them or something so I always try to be gentle.
Again these aren't for someone wanting lots of these for every day glasses unless you make a effort to be careful with them and store them in a place in the freezer and just keep emptying and refilling every few hours/days to get enough for a party or something. Otherwise just get a regular ice cube tray. Hope my review helped.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2012I like the idea, but this ice cube tray does a spotty job. The cubes are often mishapen and really hard to get out of the pack. Also, many of the gem shapes are so round that they just look like a ball after a few mintues in a drink.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2010These guys are great for a party with an appropriate theme--just don't ever try to put them in the dishwasher! I had a pair of these, originally purchased for a pirate-themed party (International Talk Like A Pirate Day, anyone?), but when my mother came to visit me, she put them in the dishwasher with the heated dry cycle on and they deformed pretty awfully.
Outside of non-dishwasher-safe-ness, they add a nice touch of pizazz to your drinks or punch bowl :) I've only done clear jewels so far, but I imagine with a toothpick set in them freezing juices in this would make cute mini-popsicles or (sans toothpick) flavorful additions to clear and nearly clear drinks (like iced tea), adding juicy flavor as they help chill the beverage. Fun stuff!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2013Received the silicone ice cube tray quickly and it looks just like the picture. My daughters are having fun making their 'jewel ice' and trying to get their ice cubes to turn out as clear as in the pictures. The warmer the water and tapping it after having been in the freezer for awhile seems to help make them clearer. All in all, it's a cute way to have fun shaped ice cubes and the price is great.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2013I've had the Tovolo Perfect Cube Ice Tray, Set of 2, Dark Blue silicone trays for some years. They worked great for a couple years until they started to taste like the freezer. That being said I decided to explore some other options and this was unique so I grabbed it.
This is not the same as other silicone trays. Other trays can be put in the dishwasher for cleaning, and many silicone can even be put in the oven as baking trays. This is plastic like sports mouth guards are made of-- if you get it too warm ( like a dishwasher) it will curdle and melt into a pile of goo. Be aware of that. It does say it on the back of the package but not very prominently.
The item itself does work, but it requires a lot more agility to use. The space between the cubes is a single line of rubbery plastic, not a solid flat surface, so grabbing each one to eject the ice is a real challenge.
The cubes are small-ish, think the size of a jewel sucker ring from when you were a kid and you'll have the size understood. The cubes do melt fast because they're small.
That all being said (which sounded sort of negative-ish) if you have a particular need for jewel ice, this does do the trick slowly. I can see using it regularly for a novelty drink, or for a jewelry store that's high end enough you serve drinks to your customers but not something usable enough in the home to use regularly.
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask them in the comments below and I'll be happy to answer them.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2014I guess I have to write 20 words about this ite., but I bought this a s sticking stuffer and I don't really care how it is rated. If your freezer works and you can fill the tray with water then your in luck. This tray can make ice cubes. You can also freeze other fun liquids in the freezer. Such as orange juice. That way when you poor a full glass of vodka you can just drop a time orange ice cube in and not feel like as complete alcoholic.... Anyways, its 9:00 a.m. and I have to goto the liquor store now.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2014I thought they looked pretty cute although they are not as easy to pop out as I expected. I wish for the price it came with 2 sets for a total of 12. I can't remember if the package said dishwasher safe, but they are not. I put them on the top rack and they are now unable to be used.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2013I used this product as a mold with plaster of paris. I'm DIYing name card holders for my wedding, and they came out fantastic. I know it's a pretty weird use for an ice cube tray, but it works. It's re usable, and has really help up.
I also tested it out as an ice cube tray (before the plaster) and it makes cute little gem shaped cubes!

1.0 out of 5 stars Très déçu
Très très déçu! Un produit même pas emballé, aucun packaging, seulement un vieu silicone vert et un produit poussiéreux.... Rien a voir avec la photo de la boîte! Je comptais l'offrir pour noël mais j'ai trop honte pour ça

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy
The mold is soft plastic (much thinner than others I have bought) and after using once to create ice cubes is distorted out of shape in addition as the mold is so soft the cubes are almost impossible to get out of the mold. Very disappointed with product. Complained to the seller about this product but got no reply!

1.0 out of 5 stars Voller Flopp
