My almost 3 year old loves this app. He is a huge fan of the movies and shows and enjoys the coloring pages, book, and games. The book has audio, which is great because he doesn't read, yet, but you can also click each word and it will speak it, so it has that educational aspect. The games are fun, not really educational, but really cute nonetheless.

The main feature of this game is the storybook portion of the app. That portion is basically a 30 page power point presentation with a picture from the movie per page and a section of the story read aloud. You can go forward pages and back at your own pace if you want to skip over sections but you cannot save where you were to return later. Pretty straightforward and definitely not worth the $2.99 nor space on my phone.

However there are 3 additional mini games included with this app that I found entertaining. While I still don't think I would shell out the full price this was a pleasant surprise on the free app of the day listing.

Firstly there is a coloring book app that has 6 different dragon pictures to choose from. These pictures can be colored in using a few different tools and a decent color selection. The app makes it so that you color the first type of item you touch when putting your finger down, that way you can paint with your finger without worrying about going out of the lines. This allows you to touch one spike on the back of a dragon that you have one color and paint all the spikes by rubbing your finger over all of them, without painting the body sections in between the spikes and such. There is even a paint bucket tool to quickly fill in the entire matching section at once.

The Dragon Hunter game is the basic touch these and not this game where you poke at the hunters as they pop up on screen to shoot a fireball at them, but avoid touching the sheep. The game starts off with easy goals and gets progressively more difficult and has 3 difficulty choices to select between for the start.

Then there is a game that would probably do well on its own in the $0.99 market. Basically put Flappy Bird in a race against 3 others, give a few more commands like rapid tapping to flap faster, holding the screen to steadily fly up and a quick swipe down to dive down. You run 3 laps around a course and collect sheep on the way, everything you run into, you lose a sheep. At the end of the 3 laps your time is tallied against the other racers and your score is modified by the amount of sheep you and your enemies collected. This minigame sold on keeping this game on my phone.

WHY does DreamWorks need to know what accounts you have on your device? Why does this app - targeted to children - need to have its developer send messages?

It's pretty large, too, at 58.8MB installed.

Still, it is very attractive, with excellent stereo sounds.

The app does end instantly with the back button (be aware of this, as you might not want it exiting that fast with young ones, unless you constantly want to restart it for them again. And again.)

Young children will really like the coloring and the storytelling, and the older kids will like the Dragon Hunters "Hogan's Alley" game and the Dragon Racing.

The coloring part app is EXCELLENT except for two things: 1) There are only SIX pages! 2) Because the back button instantly closes, your child's beautiful art goes away permanently without being saved. If you want to save it, you have to pull down the tiny arrow in the upper left, and choose the camera. Incidentally, this is also where the UNDO is hiding. They also get saved if you return to the Pages or the Menu.

The Dragon Hunters has three hardness settings and three playing arenas, and the play gets progressively harder, with the third level having infinite hunters to shoot.

The racing is very challenging, at least to start. Your child will spend quite a bit of time practicing. You do get to choose whether you want to ride Toothless or Stormfly. You also try to collect sheep and deliver them to the finish line. So, it's a pretty engaging game for older kids. Younger kids are not going to like it, though.

Both the Dragon Hunters and the Dragon Racing do have high score boards, so it can be shared between siblings or friends.

I'm not sure this is worth $3, though, since it is more or less advertising for the movie (and the forced intro ad for Cupcake, too), and especially considering that it gets a list of your accounts for ZERO reason AND it receives push notifications, which are most likely advertisements. I have blocked the app from the internet, so I cannot say for certain what the push is sending you.

Without the Push or the Accounts scraping, the app is decent, and covers a large range of ages. I'd recommend it IF it didn't have the push or the privacy issues, but still think it's a bit overpriced.

It is filed with multiple cartoon-ish games and puzzles. The graphics are outstanding! It's more than just one type of game. I have deleted so many dragon games. This actually has a narrated comic book story you can listen to and page through...if you can't pronounce a word or a character name, you can just tap on the dialogue to hear it said again.

It has a coloring book! You can select the characters and paint them from a color palette, and somehow keeps you inside the lines (although it's not always perfect)....now how cool is that?

It has different dragon games to choose from. It is so much in one game, it is nearly impossible to review it as a single game app. Your kids will spend endless hours with this single download, and you adults will too! I will shut up now...I doubt you will delete this dragon-fest of fun.
