This brush is amazing! My hair is a bit past my shoulders and on the finer side, so I got the pink brush. My hair gets tangled SO easily and I feel like I've tried everything. I was skeptical when this arrived. It's different than any brush I've had before and is very lightweight. It's kind of a weird shape too. But I used it that evening and was sold - it literally glided through my hair. It's untangled some super gnarly knots without pulling out my hair either. I would have to clean out my old brush pretty frequently, but I've had this one about a month and haven't had to clean it yet. I also was in a hurry one day and used this immediately after a shower. I normally don't use a brush on wet hair, but this ended up working perfectly and didn't pull or break off any hair at all. You don't even have to use any detangling spray with this brush. Highly, highly recommend!

My hair is longish (mid-back) curly (I'd say 8 on a scale of 1 straight to 10 tightest curls) and fine (I'd say 2 on a scale of 1 finest to 10 thickest) and have spent over 60 years trying to pic out tangles - it can take 20 minutes a day easy and usually lots of hair breaks. My mom and grandma always just wanted to cut my hair super short and be done with it and sadly - I've even had to cut knots out. In less than one minute this brush untangled every bit of my hair and only a few strands were in the brush! I might have to wet my hair down now as it sort of fro's like a dandelion gone to seed when it is combed this well. :) So happy (Oh and it was painless!!!!)

So I've seen this brush for a while but always talked myself out of buying it. It's a frivolous purchase, but I'm frivolous occasionally. I got it this afternoon and I don't hate it. It seems like a cheap construction - all plastic, lightweight (like, no weight), and it feels like one good drop on a hard floor would kill it. That being said, it does detangle rather easily.
I have fine, blonde hair and often spend the better part of my morning trying to unsnarl the knots before I get on with my day (even if I braid my hair before bed, it still knots up). My normal brush (the Conair version of the Wet Brush) pulls and rips and possibly does more harm than good. A lot of hair ends up in that brush - I clean it every week, it seems.
Though I've only used the Michael Mercer brush on dry hair so far, it feels like an improvement already. I'm not sure how, but the varying height in bristles (also plastic) does appear to not pull or rip my hair nearly as much. It does still pull some (I think with any brush, that would be hard to avoid entirely) and I do still find hair in the brush, but it's not the amount as with my normal brush. After one afternoon with it, it feels gentler on my hair and scalp than normal.

UPDATE: This is not a brush for wet hair. I've attempted to use it twice after a shower and always end up reaching for my normal brush because this one is not very well suited for wet hair - even fine wet hair. This is not a brush for styling. My job requires me to put my hair back all day and it's difficult to even get it into a ponytail with this brush. That being said, as a brush that advertises itself as a detangler, it works very well. That's why I still give it 4/5 stars - it does exactly what it said it should. It detangles fine hair with very little difficulty. However, if you're looking for the end-all be-all of brushes, this is not the brush for you.

I rarely write reviews, mostly because I buy too much stuff so writing reviews would interfere with shopping (vicious cycle). I got a prompt to write a review for this brush and thought—ok, I should do it because I use it off-brand in a way and maybe others reading this will get a kick out of this. I picked my first MM brush up at the clearance table at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was 75% off and I ended up paying $1.79. Based on that alone, I had nothing to lose. I bought it for stimulating my scalp not for detangling. I have a short picky cut and very straight hair, so tangles are not my problem. I had the brush by my bedside table and gave my scalp a nice massage (and it’s wonderful for that), but then my long-haired Ragdoll cat jumped up on my lap demanding a lovin’. I started brushing her coat with this brush and she LOVES IT. I have tried other cat detangle combs but they are either too harsh or totally ineffective, but the MM is PURRFECT. Every day my Ragdoll and I have a ritual brushing. I have no hesitation to brush my own scalp after doing her either because the brush is very easy to remove the fur/tangles from and just rinse off. My son has the sister to my Ragdoll and I ordered another brush from Amazon to send to him and his little furball loves it too.

I have one of every type of this brush! I use green, My daughter uses blue and I use pink on our cats! They are great brushes. My hair is just about 3 feet long and it tangles with the slightest wind! I was going to chop it all off before I found This brush! I still takes about 30 to 45 min to brush my hair depending on the knots but it is A LOT less painful and I lose less hair than with every other brush I have tried . My daughters thick hair is HORRIBLE to brush with any other brush. And I just bought the fine brush to try on my two cats because every time my daughter or I would leave our brushes out the cats would groom themselves on them. It is usually a fight to brush them but as soon as they see their new pink brush they come running to me and are purring the whole time they are being brushed!!!! Maybe Michel Mercier should think about branching out!

My story is similar to some others, i have a 6 year old daughter, brushing her hair is always painful for her no matter what we do. Saw this commercial, and of course she hasn't experienced the rip off world we live in yet, still trusts what she sees on tv, begged me to get it. i hoped that this would be one of those rare products that actually do what it says it's gonna do..no such luck. Bristles are too short for one, shape of the handle is very awkward, bottom line..it just doesn't work. I am now in possesion of a 20.00 paperweight. My girls hair is about shoulder length, straight and normal thickness and it couldn't even handle that.
