This is not a Seiko movement. It is a generic no-name Chinese movement that you can buy on Ali Baba for less than a dollar. The clock itself could not have cost more than five dollars to manufacture...if that. Shocked and appalled...and sending it back.

    I must have taken up 6 months of my shopping life, normally a fun time, looking for a replica or a repro or a similar clock to this Mondaine extra large wall clock. I purchased 3 clocks, hoping to fill the bill. There are many similar clock faces, trying to look this good. But they do not. Also some clocks, like one i bought, have the illusion that they have a silver bezel around the face. One of the cheap (1/10th the cost of this Mondaine) version had no depth, no bezel, but in the 2D picture, it has a thin face made of glass with a silver circle painted around the edge. There are many out there that could possibly have been "good enough", but there is just nothing like the real thing. This company sent the clock very quickly, about 7 days out. Even the postal carrier could tell how excited I was, but he was no longer here when I opened the box. Thank you. Pamela Smith, Petaluma, CA March 17, 2011

    7/24/12 UPDATE: They did not include my warranty card for Mondaine. That was fishy. AND, IT QUIT KEEPING TIME, about 5 or 6 months ago, it quit keeping accurate time, and it did not work better with the plugged in power cord either. I am saddened that I have to request to return this item, through Amazon's A to Z return policy. Thankfully Amazon will save me!

    If you are in the market for just any wall clock, don't get this. If you are in the market for this particular clock and are hesitant, please do get this. There is really no justification for paying this much to keep time on a wall, no matter the precision, but if you consider it a work of art, then it's different. I've owned a cheap Ikea wall clock that looked good, has run for well over a decade, and is still ticking. I replaced it with this, not because this might keep better time, but because I find the design beautiful to look at. It is absolutely stunning in person. I was surprised to find that it is built so well. The clock is quite heavy. The brushed metal frame is real and solid. There are rubber stops on the back to protect and keep the clock in place. The second hand sweeps.

    As others have remarked, this clock is not made by Mondaine.

    If you want a true watch replica made by the manufacturer, check out the Sinn radio controlled wall clock from Chronomaster.co.uk. It's cheaper than this, built like a tank and it's fantastic (if the aviator look is your thing of course).

    I saw this clock at MoMA in NY this summer and it looked great on the wall. Decided to purchase it through Amazon. The price for the clock was steep ($300) but I was buying Mondaine quality clock after all. Boy was I wrong!!! It had the cheapest Chinese clock mechanism you can probably find. The casing was metal/aluminium, which was nice. The design of the clock is great, this was the selling point. But the flaws outweighed the benefits. The hour hand and minute hand would not align at 12 o'clock. As a result, the hour clock would never show proper time. This was a big disappointment, despite the promo leaflet from Mondaine said that every clock is quality checked. Returned immediately to Amazon!!! Mondaine disappointed with lowering their standards.

    UPDATE:
    I re-ordered the clock, gave it another chance. The clock hands were showing the time properly. All was fine. Changed to 4 stars, considering the cheap mechanism, and hassle the first time around.

    This clock is brand new and it doesn't work. We changed the batteries twice and the clock doesn't display the right time. Since we JUST missed the return window, the seller won't give me a refund. We are incredibly frustrated and disappointed. Do not buy this clock and don't trust this seller.
