Nearly perfect for water consumption. App & product could use some minor tweaks.

Nearly perfect for water consumption. App & product could use some minor tweaks.
=== UPDATE Number 1 === Recent updates to the mobile app appear good. I can now see more of my consumption history… which is awesome! However, my Pryme has had some recent issues with recognizing my hydration throughout the day. It could just be my individual unit, but it's been going on for the past couple software updates. I've had to manually input most of my hydration which is a bummer. The timeline view on consumption is good, but I'd LOVE to see a calendar view with a blue Pryme dot on the date if I hit Pryme and the numeric value in mL/oz I consumed as an alternate view of the data. Because of my recent experiences with the Pryme not recognizing my hydration I'm leaving my review at four stars. I will update again once this is resolved. === ORIGINAL REVIEW === I was skeptical of this unit. I've been waiting for the Mark One Vessyl for a while but they haven't released it and so I thought I'd give the Pryme a go. I tend to drink an awful lot of tea, but not as much plain water. The Pryme Vessyl has certainly helped me stay hydrated these past two weeks. THE GOOD Helps me stay hydrated and encourages me to drink plenty of water. Lets me look back in time to see my consumption habits. THE SAD The lid is an extremely tight fit and becomes difficult to remove. Mark One recommends sliding the cap back and lifting the cap to remove the lid, but the amount of force required sometimes pops the cap loose and I've become uncomfortable with that. As a result, I find I often just don't use the lid, which is unfortunate. The white color makes the Pryme Vessyl look modern and sleek, but it scuffs and discolors easily with regular use. Which is a bummer. I use my Pryme Vessyl while at home and at work. While I've never run the battery all the way down, I would like an extra charging pad to make sure of that. But Mark One doesn't sell the chargers separately. A lost revenue opportunity I think. I wish I could see weekly, monthly charts on my water consumption. Maybe even a calendar view which would show the days I hit Pryme, or was at Pryme for a target number of hours.

The idea behind this product was really cool but it hit the mark miserably. I will say, the design is nice. Its very sleek and nice. That was probably the only good thing about it. It is EXTREMELY hard to open, even after a couple weeks of use. It was always a hassle and a process to open. I ended up breaking a nail trying to get it open. I was have to use a butter knife to pry it open. It was ridiculous. Second, the bluetooth connectivity was also very annoying. I was constantly having to reconnect to it on my phone. The app is okay. But I had to do a lot of scrolling to get to certain places and it makes you do the new side view to show you what it looks like even if you don't want to, minor thing but annoying. Towards the end, I would place it on the charger overnight. Fill it up in the morning and go to work and the battery life was already down to 80% after a 30 minute drive. It's supposed to last 2 days without charging. I gave up on the product and returned it. The only good thing about this experience is that Amazon is AWESOME and returns with them are extremely easy and no questions asked.

I really wanted to like this product. I really did. The app works fine. The reminders to drink water work fine... However the vessyl is one delicate water container. The top is really hard to take off, and I was really careful. I edged the sides little by little to limit the vacuum grip but the top came off after 24 hours of use!!! The vessyl also didnt last 2 full days on a full charge. More like One day and 1/4. I hope the next version is alot better that addresses these issues

Packaging: Unit came in attractive mostly paper based packaging (much better than plastic)

Initial Setup: Unit was easy to pair, update and connect

Accuracy: Out of the box, it was pretty accurate. I would drink one ounce and it would record one ounce. The Next morning it seemed to be missing a few ounces here and there. Not sure if its a Bluetooth issue or what. Better to be over hydrated than under hydrated I guess.

Cup: The exterior is attractive and modern but only when its clean. The matte white porous surface stays dirty. My cup holder rubber rubs off and permeates the surface and as does my makeup, lipstick and lotion. Water alone will not clean the exterior.
08/30/16 Update: The surface is so-high-maintenance (unless you don't mind the dirty look). Using cup holders, placing the Vessyl in purses or gym bags is going to make your cup look filthy. Traveling with a travel pouch has become a must since I am tired of soaping up my Vessyl several times a day to keep the matte white surface clean.

Pryme algorithm: I am not confident about the Pryme calculation. At the moment, I am about 8 oz behind my normal water consumption, yet the Vessyl app tells me that I'm at 135% of my Pryme and will be there for the next 7.5 hours. What??? I will need at least another 24 oz during the next 7.5 hours and that's just to keep me from extreme dehydration!
08/25/2016 Update: To address the issue with Pryme not requiring me to drink as much water, I changed my lifestyle from "Mostly Sitting" to "Always breaking a sweat". I workout a few times a week (at most and I sync those workouts to the app) and I sit at a desk all day. While is is a bit better, I still find the calculation to be less than my true water requirements.

Lid: This seems spill proof enough for my needs. I wouldn't put it in a backup sideways or upside down, but its fine for upright commuting. The lid was hard to remove when I first received the unit but after watching a few videos I was able to remove it. Once you get used to how the lid works (and you realize you are not going to break it) its totally fine.
08/25/2016 - I tipped the Vessyl sideways and upside down and it did not leak. This gave me confidence to place it upright in my purse. Well, I forgot about it,laid the purse down carelessly and returned an hour later to find water had leaked into my purse. It is spill resistant, not spill proof. Their FAQ's are confusing on this matter as one article claims "Spill-Proof" and another article says "not fully spill-proof".

App- The app is pretty good. It would be great if told me how many oz I drank in a day. Currently I have to go to Health Kit to find that information.

Taste: I notice at times a highly chemical taste in my water. I think it comes from the matte white plastic exterior as the interior is hopefully non-leaching glass.

    In Summary,
The occasional chemical taste, along with the overall high maintenance of the Vessyl are enough that I would't recommend this product and I wouldn't purchase again. I like it, but certainly not $120 worth plus effort. $60 would be more reasonable price point for the product.
