It probably won't rust quickly. I WANTED mine to look more like a Vintage Olive Bucket (cost $60-125.00) so i sanded it and sprayed bleach several times. You could spray a clear sealant on it to help prevent rust. Very nice item. I love mine.

This item is tin and will probably rust if used as is. To use with plants, you will have to line it due to perforations in sides.

I am planning to plant in them also...they have been sitting outside since I purchased...not quite planting time here and they haven't rusted. Since they are galvanized it would take quite some time if they were to rust, as in years I believe.

I'm not positive, but I don't think galvanized metal will rust.

Not sure, but if you're worried you can probably spray them with some sort of a clear acrylic spray for protection from the elements. If they're truly galvanized I believe it would take many years for them to rust.

I would have your plant in a pot that would fit inside and remove it when watering so you don't always have water sitting on the bottom of the container because I think it might rust.

Since it's galvanized steel it should not rust. Will rust only when the zinc coating wears off.

Yes, you could use this bucket as a planter, which is what I plan to do. As far as rusting I doubt it. It's a galvanized bucket. It would take years for that to happen, which is a minus for someone who wants the bucket to rust for the vintage look. I don't care about that. For the price it's a wonderful bucket! Looks great on my porch!

This is not as large as the antique olive buckets but it is perfect for decorating on a budget. I have emailed my friends a picture of mine and they plan to pirchase as well.

Love everything about this product. We reuse our plastic shopping bags as trash liners and the bag handles fit perfectly onto the bin handles. Ordering a couple more. Great buy!

I originally found this on Pintrest, I have been searching for a cheap actual antique one of these that didn't cost a arm and a leg so when I saw this on Walmart I HAD TO HAVE IT! I am so in love with these, I use them to decorate my front porch! These are a steal too!

Great Pottery Barn Knock off!

I am so happy with this bucket - I had no idea what I would do with it when I ordered it , but just knew it would be a great addition to my cottage / industrial look. It was much larger than I expected ( I obviously didn't read the dimension description well ) but was pleasantly surprised when I opened it . I now have it in my master bath with towels rolled up in it. This is a steal for less than $13.00 . I'll probably get another one to sit by the fireplace for kindling.

great bucket - larger than expected

Have been wanting a vintage olive bucket for a long time.....this $10.00 item is great and cost 1/8 of vintage ones. I ran, not walked to buy it and very happy. To achieve more of a vintage look, i lightly sanded off the 'shine' and sprayed bleach on it several days, let it sit in the sun and rain to 'rust' it some. Now I wish I had purchased more. LOVE IT. What a deal. Thanks Walmart, keep the vintage stuff coming.

looks so much like a VINTAGE olive bucket.

I purchased smaller versions of these buckets in the fall with mums and loved them and thought I would have to keep on the lookout for in the garden section and maybe purchase again when the fall mums arrrive in stores. I was on pinterest and kept seeing buckets similar to these but were way too expensive so just assumed waiting and hoping were my only options.
Upon stumbling on these on the Walmart website, I was excited and just had to order. Mind you they are not as authentic and sturdy as probably the real things I was seeing on Pinterest, I think those were called Olive buckets. But wow, these are great for my use with potted plants on my porch and I have also used inside as decor. The clear water keepers to place under my pots fit nice too.

I've already decided to order more and have sent to my local store as they do not carry.

Ive been looking and looking for this

These are awesome and arrived shipped to store in record time. They are a great size for displaying potted plants and small trees/bushes in. Two on the front porch, on either side of the door, would look great! I purchased two.

I ordered 2 of these & was happy with the ship-to-Walmart / no-shipping fee to me. They arrived quickly, within a few days. When I picked them up, I luckily opened the box at the store & inspected them. They were nested together & there was a big indentation on the side of them. The guy helping me pushed the dent & it popped back out & you couldn't really tell, so that was o.k. What was not ok was that one of the bin's handles was completely off on one side & laying in the bottom of the box, & the handle on the other side of that same bin was hanging on by only one rivet! WHERE IS THE QUALITY CONTROL? I returned the damaged bin immediately, although I had to go back up to the front of the store to do that. For the record, the other bin was fine & I kept that one, but I decided not to reorder a second one. It is a large, attractive piece & I think it is well worth the price, if you can get one that does not arrive damaged!

Good for the Price

I bought two of these bins to use as planters for large house plants. In both cases I raised the level of the plant with a solid object, then put in a plastic saucer to catch overflow. They look very stylish with my plants.

Perfect for my intended use

I really like the appearance of this product; however, it is a very poorly made product. There was silver paint around top edge which made the galvanized appearance look cheap. The handles are riveted on and pull out easily apparently. I ordered one and had it shipped to the store. All of that process went great but when I went to pick it up the box was crushed and the clerk opened it to check. It was completely dented in so I went to the shelf to see if I could find a good one. All of them were either crushed, handles off or had silver paint smeared all over the top. Love the looks of the product but the quality is so disappointing.
