    Nice headphones
I ordered the black version of these headphones but recieved the white. Not really an issue as I still really like these headphones. I purchased a pair when they were first released and really enjoyed the sound quality as well as the comfort of being able to wear them for long periods of time. Would have rated higher if I'd have recieved what I ordered but I'm too lazy to send them back and wait for correct ones. They work fine being they are used so can't complain for 20 bucks.

These headphones are amazing for the price range! For those who are not familiar with Logitech's line of headphone, the Ultimate Ear (UE) line came out a couple of years ago with a focus on making higher end headphones for a mid point price range. These are my second pair of UE headphones, my first set being UE 300vm in-ear headphones. Anyways, these are in a long line of over the ear headphones that I have owned. Also, given that I DJ, my requirement for headphones are different than the everyday user. These were strictly purchased for casual, everyday use without sacrifice to sound. I have a different sets for different uses, so while I think these could handle being used as DJing headphone - they aren't designed (physical construction) as such so I don't use it for that purpose.

Sound Quality - I have been exceptionally surprised at how great the UE line sounds. These are super clean and crisp without sounding forced. There are plenty of cans out there that sound a bit too artificial, especially ones that advertise it right on the packaging (or product description). These were (in my opinion) the unsung hero of its class. These can easily outshine a set of Bose AE, OE or QC's in the sound department any day! However, given the marketing strategy behind Bose, you'd probably never give these a chance. Speaking of Bose, in comparing these to my AE2's, I'd much rather grab these to listen to the same tracks to see the new sound imaging I get from songs that I know in and out. What I have come to realize with High End headphones (including Bose) is that they focus more on balance and sound stage, and while I totally agree on both aspects, sometimes you just need a bit more "umph" to liven up your music, to get you sucked in, to get you hyped for whatever it is your are doing (again, my music perspective in very different than that of a casual listener). Having a balanced sound tone in the long run (to me) makes my music seem kind of flat overall. I do like the presence of bass and crisp highs. These deliver both! These are also advertised as "noise cancelling" which means they run on batteries to active high frequency white noise to counter surrounding ambient noise. Some may find this aspect appealing, other may not. I myself will be honest that the noise cancelling isn't all that great on these, but I do not have a basis for comparison other than having tried Bose QC but don't actually own a pair or had a change to test any for an extended period of time. What I will say is that when turning on the "active noise cancelling" it does active an amp where its like turning on the "loud" button on your car stereo. Unlike the Bose QC, these function just fine without the use of the active noise cancelling, so you don't have to worry about constantly having batteries just to use your headphones. To me that is a great plus over cans the require the use of batteries to function. I'll be honest, I only really used the active noise cancelling when I first got the set and once the batteries dies, I just left it as is and used the cans without the noise cancelling feature.

Construction - Made of a combination of gloss plastic, rubberized plastic and some aluminum/metal, these feel quite sturdy. The weight on these are a bit heavier than I'd prefer, however given I am not moving around with them, you forget you are wearing them. Each side has a hinge where it folds in to help transport these in an included semi hard travel pouch. The batteries compartment is located on the left ear cup and is accessed but the press of a small flush button that when pressed, pops open the outer cover of the ear cup and is permanently attached to the strap so you don't have to worry about losing the cover. Some may like this, some may not. I personally think its great. Less things to lose. The opening can be a bit tight so those who have bigger hands/fingers may find it hard to get in to replace the AAA batteries with their bare fingers (unless you use a small flat head screwdriver)? Noise cancellation is on the opposite ear cup and is fairly easy to turn off and on. When turned on, a green LED on the button light up indicating that noise cancelling in active. If or when it turns or stays red when you turn it on, that means battery life is running low. Another thing you will notice (at least with with my set) is if you are listening to music with noise cancelling on and the LED is red, your music will also cut in and out, almost as if your song was damaged in its encoded process (which was my first reaction). Upon turning off that feature, you music will return to normal without any distractions (or "loudness"). Again, while I think the loudness is nice, I've been using these without noise cancelling and love the way it sounds. The ear pads are the best I have felt in quite some time. Given the price range of these, these feel 10x better than my DJ Headphones (Denon DN-HP1000). The innards of the pads feel like some sort of memory foam (but could be regular foam for all I know) but isn't too soft or hard. The pad lining is made of a black pleather like material which feel fine on your skin. They cup and contour your head/ear area nicely. The band up top is rubberized on the outer part to provide easy grip when handling them from the bad, and the underside is padded for when its resting on the top of your head. Again, nicely padded foam. Of course, each side can be adjusted up or down and the ear cups themselves have a bit of wiggle room to provide a better fit to each person. The cable includes an inline mic and controls so that you can control your iPhone/Android and or take calls while using the headphones. The cable is also fully detachable so if your cable goes bad, you won't need to get a new set of cans, just a new cable.

Noise Cancelling - Since these are over the ear headphones, upon properly fitting/securing them to your head, you will notice a good deal of AMBIENT noise is filtered out (without the use of the built in noise cancelling). Turning them on, you may notice a slight change? Definitely not ground breaking, but that is also because there is a misconception about what noise cancelling is (won't get into that). Like I stated earlier, the noise cancelling feature also enhances the music a bit. Some may like it, other may not, and I like said, I used it at first but now I'm perfectly happy with the way they sound without the feature turned on. The way the cable is coated, it does NOT make a lot of feedback noise when moving around at my desk. I don't use these while I am outdoors or doing activities so I cannot comment beyond what I currently have done with them.

Conclusion - Overall, these are a great set of headphones. Unfortunately, they are discontinued so you will be left with scouring like new, light use or used products. Though on the larger and heavier side, they feel solid and don't feel weak or fragile. Wearing them, you get a real sense of you and your music (or movie, or phone call, etc). Unlike other over or around the ear phones that feel cheap and light, and don't create a proper seal on/around your ear, these will be a nice wake up call as to what proper over the ear headphones should sound like. While some who seek Active Noise Cancelling headphone may be disappointed with that particular feature. I think they will much appreciate the lower price tag and sound quality of these cans should be give them a try.

So obviously I am a new booty here but I am not stranger to the world of fidelity and have the sickness of gear purchases every time something tasty comes along but I wont bore you all with my gear list, just my thoughts on the UE 6000 noise canceling head phones and although I will probably get flamed for this, I will mention it anyways..

I bought the UE 6000's after hearing them at the local best buy. To my ears compared to what they had at their listening stations sounded the best and no I didn't audition them from their noisy demo box, I pissed off their employees and unplugged each headphone as I demo'd them directly into my cMoy BB amp with LOD to my ****ty pod which is all flac files converted to crapple lossless.

Now I will be the first to say the DA of the ipod sucks harder than the 3 girls held in capture by that looney in cleveland but the amp helps clear up some of the mudded yuck that comes out of that thing..

After letting the cans sit off the ipod on passive mode for a duration of 40 hours I figured that was enough to consider a decent burn in time... My flight leaves in 36 hours from purchase so I had to go put these things to the test..

I guess all the reviews are similar to that signature V sound with the noise canceling/amp switch on which bumps the bass and highs and gives you that club sound when listening to jiggy baloney hip hop or any sine waved bass ended music be it garbage dub step or flying lotus.

I was happy with the sound of these although I didn't hear much of nuances that I could from my Ascend sierra towers being juiced by my lovely sunfire amplifier in my home theater set up but I figured these cans colored the sound and probably werent designed as much for detail as they were for making your head bob because they sound good enough to forgive the fidelity of them..

so now onto the flame session which I am sure you all will probably hate me for this. A fellow musician friend of mine brought out his RME UCX ADDA interface so we decided to listen to flac files out of that thing with its very very decent DA conversion out of the headphone amp and I was a bit more impressed with the 6000 (mind you I own a pair of custom fit UE dual driver IEMS that have had to be rebuilt twice because the drivers keep blowing and my latest hoorah was I accidently washed them in the washing machine.. my bad player) ANYWAYS... I look over to my right and he has a pair of these ableplant lynx head phones that he has explained to me he's has warrantied over 4 times cause they keep breaking and let me tell you, they broke while I auditioned them and they have the worst build quality but I will say this.. They sounded better than my UE 6000.. I know I know, you're thinking how can those cheap POS's sound better, well they did.. I A/B several tunes that I am familiar with and went back and fourth between to two and the sound definition was less muddy and allowed separation to prevail in these cans.. Now I will admit, I would never buy a pair because they are built like crap but for them to sound better than my UE 6000 has made me decide that give or take pushing my budget up 100 bucks that there has to be a better sounded can out there than these that can offer the comfort (although I still find myself taking a break from these after an hour or two and they tend to get hot around my ears) I have a large head with average size ears..

So now I am off to searching again and I have considered a few other options but I did like the fact that these emphasize the bass and I didnt notice THAT much mid loss but after eg'ing them on my laptop still using my external amp, I have found a sweet sound in passive mode that I am content with, but I think there are cans out there with better separation and a better sound stage.

Not to say these are bad, because they are a very good set of cans, I just think if you are already swinging 200, you can expand your budget and find something better, and thats what I plan to do now.. I just dont have the means of auditioning a bunch of different headphones (even though I live in los angeles) or maybe Il repaid my IEM's and go back to in ears since the only reason I went up to a over the ear headphone was because somebody stole my futuresonics and I was pleased with those even though they didnt do a great job with separation either..

So I guess this was my own personal opinion on these as well as a open forum to allow for suggestions. I know there are more threads talking about the UE 6000 but they all have people praising them to where I think there is something better out there within this price range that will give you better sound staging and separation with instruments..

      I have considered the following

      AT mh50
MadDog Mr Speakers since people seem to highly rave about them
      Focal Spirits
Vmoda 100 (although some reviews said they seemed to emphasize too much low end which compressed the mids)

or I dont know.. I listen to mostly indie, rock, electronic, with sprinkles of jazz and r&b here and there but its mostly rock oriented. but I do like a colored sound which will give me that low end that tickles my ear lobes from that air moving..

I had high hopes for these headphones but those hopes were dashed. These were a gift and the person I bought them for didn't get to try them until beyond the return date, and when we did try them it turned out that the noise cancellation wasn't working. Fine, not a problem because Logitech has good customer support. They sent out a new set and they arrived reasonably promptly (although since I was the one who place the original order, the replacement came to me). They sent the wrong color, but that's not an issue at all. The issue is that while the noise cancellation was working on these, it's pretty terrible. I have a pair of Bose QuietComfort 15's and they absolutely blow away the UE6000's in noise cancellation. It's not even close-- if the Bose are a 10, the UE's are a 2. They're definitely working, but there's not nearly as much cancellation as the Bose. I know the Bose cost $100 more, but since the UE6000's have so little noise cancellation I could have just gotten a $100 pair of headphones and saved $100. If I'm paying $100 for noise cancellation I want them to work.

One other thing I DON'T like, especially compared to the Bose, is the carrying case. It's harder to use than the Bose case and there's no reason for it other than that Logitech tried to be cool and different, putting form over function.

I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 star because while the noise cancellation is lousy, the sound of the headphones is very good. Depending on your taste, you may even like the sound better than the Bose. Also, the build quality is good, as is the feel of them when you wear them. But I'd recommend the UE4000 over these because they're the same, minus the not-very-effective noise cancellation and are only $100.

For 5.6k, it's extremely good. Detachable cable, active noise cancellation, completely circumaural, comfy pads, headphone splitter, cute puch, inline mic and remote.

The sound quality is amazing, but requires burn-in - it WILL sound slightly flat at first. Granted, the active noise cancellation is not the best, but for its price it's almost unfair to ask for any more. Very comfortable for office or travel, but definitely not suited for the gym.

Seller, Extremefast/Hydshop is good. Exchanged mails, was very professional. Delivery in 3-4 days. Packaging was perfect.
