- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2015Style: USB Handheld MicVerified PurchaseThis is a great microphone to use as a gamer. Works well with Teamspeak, although you may have to change TS capture to "always record" so that it doesn't cut out. Doesn't have static or miscellaneous sounds (popping, hissing, etc). However, it is sensitive even when the mic boost is disabled - i.e. it will pick up the vibrations my computer sends through the desk that the mic is standing on, but its fixed with some foam under the legs. Speaking of legs, they swing out and are very sturdy.
I highly recommend this mic and a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 pros instead of a gaming headset
Pros:
+Have an optional mic boost (make sure to DISABLE it if you can hear everything going on in your house)
+Great sound recording, no hisses/pops/humming
+Comes with a mic, stand, and necessary cables
+High build quality, made in the USA
Cons:
-Even with mic boost disabled it can pick up vibrations from my PC, which sits on the same desk as the mic. However, it was fixed with some foam under the feet of the mic
-Very directional, make sure you speak anti-parallel to the direction the mic is facing, or have it next to your mouth if you are perpendicular to it
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2014Style: USB Handheld MicVerified PurchaseI wanted a better microphone for my online tutorials, but I didn't want to spend a whole lot. I give tips and ideas to those who cannot afford much, so while shopping around on Amazon, I came across this mic. The description said it was professional, so I thought I'd give it a try. When it arrived, I was pleased at the appearance, and even the weight! I looked and felt like a higher-end professional microphone! I couldn't wait to start using it. My excitement however was short lived, because after my first recording, I heard more buzzing, whining, and even thumping sounds, more than my voice. I re-read the instructions that came with the mic, and even checked online for a solution, all of which did me no good. When I finally found the time to check my settings, and do a few additional things, I can get excited again, as I seemed to have gotten rid of most of the bad sounds. A few of the things I needed to do was to turn off my desk lamp and desktop speakers, as they caused an interference. For Windows 7, I also found that in Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound, then left-click on C-Media USB Audio device, then on Sound settings. Then click on the Recording tab, then on Microphone C-media Audio device to highlight that, then on properties. Choose the Levels tab, and the best ranges are from 60 to 70 and nothing beyond. Then choose the advanced tab, and instead of CD quality, choose DVD quality. Then in the Custom tab, the box next to AGC is checked by default, so click on that to uncheck the box, then select Apply and ok. Then if you have a desktop and/or speakers, turn those off, and everything should be fine! I was really surprised by not only the quality, but the price! Awesome microphone, at an awesome price, and more than excellent for beginner's on a budget. Another product that I will highly recommend on my website to my viewers!!! Addition, I do recommend a pack of those windscreen foam covers!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, Sturdy Microphone With A Cheap Price. Be Sure to READ Before Buying Though!
Style: USB Handheld MicVerified PurchasePurchased this microphone primarily for gaming, as I picked up a new headset recently that didn't include an attached microphone. The primary factors that led me to choose this product over others were the price, and the included stand. The overall quality was decent, and it connected to the 3 leg stand without issue. The USB cord is long enough that I don't need to worry about where I place this microphone. Install was a breeze, and Windows found the drivers without me needing to go to the manufacturers website. I did anyway though, after the installation was complete, just to double check that the drivers Windows had found were the latest, which they were.
Initial configuration wasn't too bad as well, as I had thankfully read the other reviews prior to purchasing and knew to disable "AGC" under the 'Custom' tab of the mic's properties in Windows. Doing this reduced mic feedback (that buzzing noise you can hear if you enable "listen" on your mic. You may experience other feedback depending on primarily on other electronic devices near the microphone, as well as other things like your home's wiring, where you live, etc. If I place my microphone close enough to my LED monitor and hold the microphone while "Listening" in Windows properties, I can actually pick up a local Christian radio station transmission through my headphones.
I may look into purchasing a Cheater PlugAXIS 45086 3-Prong to 2-Prong Electrical Adapter - 2 Pack as I had ground loop issues with a previous PC setup in the past and that cleared up much of the issue. If you are going to go that route, please do your research before purchasing. Replacing the outlet your PC is connected to with a GFCI outlet would be the best way to eliminate as much ground noise as possible, but is also the least convenient.
I did make a few minor modifications to the mic stand as well. In an attempt to minimize the interference from other electrical objects (like the monitor), I cut sections of foam pads (the type commonly used under kitchen chairs to prevent scratching the floor), and placed them under the mic stand feet, as it ships without padding. This seemed to help reduce feedback a bit, but helped voice clarity a great deal. The mic stand sits on a desk directly in front of my primary monitor, so I also drilled out the bottom of the mic stand hole where the arm raises and lowers. This helped to lower the mic about an inch lower as to minimize how much it blocks my monitor. I will be picking up a scissor boom arm in the future to remedy this problem. I can't speak to the effect of adding a windscreen / popfilter but I will also be adding one in the near future and will update this review with the differences after I have done so.
