Editorial Reviews

Limited five 180gm red vinyl LP set in lavish book style packaging. An epic film score receives epic treatment with The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring/Complete Recordings. Released for the first time on vinyl, the complete score for the first film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy contains more than 180 minutes of music. Breathtaking and majestic, the 2001 Oscar and Grammy winning score composed by Howard Shore also includes Enya's Oscar nominated 'May It Be'. For fans of any of The Lord of the Rings films, the Fellowship of the Ring/Complete Recordings is an essential experience.

Finally, The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring - The Complete Recordings soundtrack on VINYL!To harken (to) and to have as a wonderful display item on the shelf to boot. Nice to see a larger (deluxe) booklet format, other than the CD version, for "The Music of the LOTR Films -Part 1- the FOTR"; material that can also be found in Doug Adam's music tome.Rhino/WB has done an exquisite job mimicking the red packaging of the original LOTR:FOTR Complete Recordings soundtrack on CD/DVD; and I'm looking forward to the CD/BD release of LOTR:FOTR and the future TTT & ROTK vinyl releases. The release comes a 'Middle Earth Map - Part 1', that when placed next to the other two maps will create the entire chart.I'll be changing the albums and flipping five times on the record player, but WELL worth it. It's great to be back in Middle Earth.I'm no tech-savvy wiz when it comes to 'sound', but the vinyl does have superb playback, at least side A on LP1, nine more sides to test out, although, I'm also interested in the surround-sound of the Blu-ray disc. [update] The CD/BD release is a spitting image of Rhino's CD/DVD release minus the reissue number and a brighter red ribbon, 49454-2 is now R2-49454.Here's to LOTR:TTT and LOTR:ROTK - The Complete Recordings soundtrack on vinyl ... and one day, to Peter Jackson's ultimate movie release with deleted scenes, bloopers, et cetera.

I've always been a movie soundtrack buff and the one for The Lord of the Rings trilogy is amongst the best ever written.

The original releases of the soundtracks only contained the highlights, but this is the edition to get if you are a fan. Not only do they contain all tracks from the original theatrical cuts of the movies, they also include the music composed for the Extended Editions of the films. That also contains all pieces that were sung in the movies, like The Road Goes Ever On sung by both Iam McKellen and Ian Holm and all the original songs like May It Be by Enya and Into The West by Annie Lennox.

The sets may look pricey, but the amount of material they contain make them worth the price. Highly recommended.
