A: Yes... but patience you must have, my young padawan. To reach Obi- Wan you want, be dead you must, mmm.

Q: Will this work on carpet or just smooth floors?
A: It does work on carpet but better on floors. It picks up hair on the carpet and gets stuck on the wheels and hair makes it run slower.
Q: Can this be controlled with an amazon fire tablet?
A: My son uses the Amazon fire. Works great

A: Yes it does! “Force Band is compatible with all Sphero App-Enabled Droids. This includes BB-8, Battle-Worn BB-8, BB-9E, R2-D2, and R2-Q5.”
Q: What is the overall point of it?
A: FUN!!!
Q: How is this different than the BB-8 model, feature wise?
A: They're very different, as their physical structures are different. R2 is easier to control because he's not a ball (BB8 takes some practice, but is a lot of fun). R2 has lights and sounds that come from his body. BB8's sounds come from the app. If the goal is to have remote control droids, then I'd say choose your favorite droid. If you want more functionality, choose R2. But BB8 is very novel and fun and crosses different surface types more easily.
