A: You are ABSOLUTELY correct in your assessment. The only reason you would want to go to the i7 or 16GB is if you want to run Windows10 or Linux. As a Chromebook, the base model at $999 is OVERKILL for ChromeOS.
Q: Does this have retina display
A: "Retina Display" is just an Apple marketing term. But the 12" macbook "retina" displays have 226 pixels per inch while the Pixelbook has 235 pixels per inch. Pixelbook has the slightest edge but essentially they're identical.
Q: I'm wondering if this will be able to support Windows 10, due to it's Intel processor.
A: No, it does not support Windows 10.
A: All Microsoft Office Apps for Android work with this device (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Great Device!
Q: How much does is the display quality for the google pixelbook
A: I would say it is somewhere around a macbook pro in quality. Superior to an air or surface laptop, but not quite as good as an iPad Pro. It is a glass panel so it is reflective like the former examples.
Q: Does this come with a power adapter?
A: Yes, this comes with a power adapter.
Q: would you recommend this for a college student who is looking for a replacement to his acer laptop?
A: Not if you need to run PC-based software (e.g., AutoCAD). Pixelbook-compatible programs are limited to Chromium/Android apps and cloudware products.
Q: What mouse works with the Chromebook?
A: Any Bluetooth mouse
