So I own a laptop, and the built-in keyboard on it is not the best. Therefore I decided to get a mechanical keyboard as a gift to myself for Christmas - and oh boy was I excited!
I was worried that the keys may too loud - but they are tactile enough, but not obnoxiously loud like the mx Blues! I would say they are around 25% quieter :P (Not saying the Blue switches are bad, I just personally think they're too loud for me). I don't mash my keys when I type, but I do know a lot of people who do - so yes, they will make noise if you're a hard, button-mashing kind of typist.
.
They also require less force to type on the keys, and this is a plus since I play a LOT of videogames that require the WASD keys. I have kinda small, girly hands for a dude and I find that they fit me perfectly.
Typing is also relatively simple enough from my transition from the standard membrane keyboard, but obviously still needs some getting used to.
There is also a software/program called CUE or something that you can download for free that allows you to customize the keyboard any way you want! Try it out.
Definitely get this on sale like I did - a great price on Amazon.
*Update*
After almost an entire year of continued use and abuse, it’s still in great shape and going strong! No problems so far.
*Update* After almost 2 years, the metal logo on next to the Corsair letters have started to come off after me trying to wipe down my keyboard.
Love the leds, they are all even brightness and functional. I did find the lighting effects software buggy on windows 10. I find them distracting when flashing in my periphery while typing so that doesnt bother me to not use it. No broken keys/switches. This thing is built like a tank. The spec page on corsair site didn't mention that this has a steel inner plate (and its heavy). More expensive ones list this as a feature. Been using it for a week and it takes fingerprints a bit easily. No wrist rest included and its pretty high to the top of the keys. That and the o-rings would make it perfect. Good value at ~$105
The size of the keyboard is a very strong feature. I don't use the number pad in my every day use on my desktop so I don't miss it at all from my old keyboard and instead am much happier having more desk space for other things. Even with it's narrower size, the keyboard still includes multi-media keys that I find myself using much more than I expected. Pausing and skipping songs is really nice as well as having easy access to volume control. One small critique is that when I'm in game, full-screen and I try using the pause button, it won't pause the song but instead will trigger Window 10's volume and Spotify interface which I will have to manually mouse over and press the pause button. Of course the backlit lighting, mechanical switches, and overall feeling is fantastic when using the keyboard.
Other than the one small issue, I'm very satisfied with the keyboard and all its features.
Keyboard has a very solid built quality. It does not feel like that cheap plastic that Razer uses and charge a premium price for their products. The only thing that I wish it had was macro keys.

As far as damage over time, the only thing I've noticed is that my "A" key has slight wear on the left side of the key. Which in my eyes is a true testament to the build quality. If it can put up with all the abuse for years and only show wear on one key, I can't recommend any other product.
Icue: I have my "F1, F2, F3" keys set to monitor internal temps of my PC. Which as trivial as it sounds is a great spot check during long gaming or stress test situations.
The lighting controls on this board are not limited to zones like the K55 giving unlimited control and customization.
All in all, out of all the keyboards I've used this one is by far the best.

I believe this specific keyboard has Red Switches and it is pretty easy to clean the dust. You can just pull the keys off with your fingers, or a key puller if you have one. As far as the spill rating goes, I would never ever want to spill a drink or have the opportunity to spill a drink on my keyboard. However, In the event it does happen, You have a decent amount of spill protection thanks to the rubber underneath the keys. But please do not have soda or anything that can spill near your PC/keyboard. It will be hard to clean.
Other than that, the keys themselves feel very comfy and easy to press. They are Red switches and feel way better than my sister's Razer keyboard purple switches. The keys are pretty durable, considering I have been mashing them playing video games for the past 7-8 months. I have about 1,459,130 combined total clicks between the two keys A and S alone, and they still feel and work as they did out of the box.
I initially got this keyboard because I had a crappy membrane that I was outgrowing on a game called Osu! (Circle clicking game.) When I switched I was amazed at how much better a mechanical keyboard was than a membrane. Even if you don't buy this specific keyboard, Mechanical keyboards are wayyyyyy better than membranes. Do not settle for a membrane keyboard unless you are extremely low on money. Just save up and buy a mechanical keyboard.
All in all, it's a great keyboard. If you want the full RGB colors I believe there is a 10-20 USD more expensive version that comes with Full RGB. But if you need to save a buck or just like the color Red, Definitely buy this board. Great mechanical board for the price.
Having used the keyboard for a few weeks now, I can only report good news:
- None of the keys have come loose in the least
- Tenkeyless is absolutely amazing. As a gamer, it allows me to position the keyboard in a much more comfortable place, without having to reach far to the side to use my keyboard or mouse.
- I was surprised to find that the wrist-rest is actually quite useful. I hadn't even realized how tired my wrists had gotten on my previous (high-end) keyboard. I highly recommend using it and NOT putting up the two stands.
- It gives you the mechanical click many of us love without being tinny or annoying
- The key response is solid and the actuation depth works perfectly for me
- I didn't think I'd like the texturing on the space bar but it's actually quite pleasant - it keeps your thumb from slipping along it when you press. If you're like me, you probably didn't even *realize* your thumb slipped along the space bar when you press it, but after getting this keyboard, I realize it had for years. The result is a much more responsive space bar.
- The volume and brightness buttons at the top are very useful. I use them frequently.
Although I still catch myself reaching for a tenkey from time to time, I am extremely happy with this.
Long story short: great buy. Totally worth the money. I will continue to buy more of these whenever this one needs replacing, barring any future issues.
I'll never go back to a keyboard with dome switches.
The RGB lighting is nice too - I can see what keys are what in the dark.
