This is a great little unit. It will fit on your counter top with no trouble. I use ours on the kitchen table for more room. This is our 2nd. Vacuum Sealer. The 1st one was the 2400 Food Saver. Both have the same locking handle style. All that is needed for easy locking is to press down slightly on the top with your left hand, at the same time as you lock the handle in place. I also press down slightly on the top when I release the handle. I place two cutting boards in front of ours, that measure an inch thick total. This puts your bags closer to the same high as the seal strip. It makes it easier to get a good seal on your bags. It comes with a peace of cardboard in the Drip Tray. Leave this in when not in use. It will help the seals to last longer. The 2200 does a great job at a small price. Hope this helps.

I enjoy this model so much more than the automatic start model Foodsaver.  It is easy to use and get started. I use the "seal" function a lot and it is more convenient on this model. On the automatic model, almost 2 inches of bag material was wasted, as I had to insert is so far into the machine to trigger the unit to start to seal or vacuum. I can seal this one right along the edge of a bag. Good replacement for a unit with more "bells and whistles", that I bought at Christmas, but never really enjoyed.

Improvement

I was grateful to REPLACE a previous system with exactly what I already knew how to operate.  I did not need the "extras" of storing the bags in the dispenser as that took up more counter space, nor the different available cannisters to seal..  This model still fits neatly in the drawer out of sight.  And it cost less here than on Amazon!

Simple compact operation

This unit replaces a previous similar system that we just wore out.  It worked for several years, so we certainly got our money's worth, but the seal was no longer secure.  It is so good to have a dependable machine again.  I think the system has improved since the last purchase and I love the little jar sealer.  I'm still dreaming up uses for that!

It works!

I took the time to empty my freezer and repackage all of my frozen meat, fruits, vegetables and breads.  It is so worth it as recently frozen bagels already had the beginning of freeer ice inside of ziplock bags I had packaged them in.  I repackaged, vacuum packed and labeled everything and it actually takes up less room in my freezer.

Right out of the box this one works perfectly ease of setup. Using it to set up my fourth of July BBQ can't wait

I have the 3240 which works wonderfully but on a whim and with discount, etc., I purchased this model for the size - easier to store.  Operationally it is frustrating.  Like others, it often doesn't vacuum although I can usually fuss with pressure on the lid and then it works.  I am using Food Saver bags, have read and re-read instructions and it is just not consistently working.

Love the size but operation is iffy

I am having no success with this sealer. I have the exact same one in my winter home and it works like a charm. I bought another one for the summer home because of the size and reliability of the one I already had, but if I would of purchased this one first, I would never have bought another. Very disappointed.

I purchased this FS system and used it for three weeks, maybe 6 times in total. I watched many, many videos on the website and on Youtube, to make sure that I was using it properly. Well, the vacuum function stopped in week 3, and the customer service rep said it sounded like a malfunctioning vacuum pump. I returned it right away, and the original delivery date for a replacement unit was 2 weeks. Updates tell me it will be here just shy of that. I am disappointed in the customer service. That replacement machine should have been sent to me with faster delivery. If I had bought the unit at Walmart I would have had a new machine that same day. Needless to say, I cannot recommend purchases from the website. We'll see how the replacement machine does.

Vacuum pump failed in first month of use

I have used and loved FoodSaver vacuum sealers for over 20 years. This one was the third one I'd purchased, and it was the WORST. The description says it “seals a variety of foods” but fails to point out it does NOT seal wet foods. Most of my vacuum sealing is wet foods, such as produce from my garden that I've blanched. I had to go back and purchase another model that has the “moist” setting, so this purchase was a waste of money.

This model should be discontinued. Don't get it.
