Yes the Stanley Vac is a Wet & Dry Vacuum. For the usage of wet just apply the cartridge filter or if you don't want to get the cartridge filter dirty twice as fast since you'll be using for wet & Dry, you can substitute the cartridge filter for a Foam Filter # 19-1600.

Yes, I sucked up water with it one time, the next time I used it it started smoking and has never worked again.

For the 8gallon it can be 2 dimension depending on the model # 1 is 1-1/4 and the other is 1-7/8 for any further question we can assist you by calling our Customer Service at 1-888-899-0146 8am-5pm central time Mon-Fri.

According to Alton&#39;s (from their customer service) answer to your question my vac&#39;s hose should be of 1-7/8&quot; diameter. So I ordered adapter for it to use my older attachments. But the adapter specifically made for 1-7/8&quot; hose does not fit!. So I measured the hose that came with this vac and found that inside it is 1-1/2&quot; and measuring from outside it is 1-3/4&quot;!

Walmart #553948325 has 1-7/8&quot; diameter hose. The included attachments are rather small for the power of the vacuum and are not very useful. *BUT* Home Deport carries a great variety of 1-7/8 Rigid brand house attachments. I bought 5 of these and that made the vacuum REALY versatile. I am VERY happy with this vacuum ( the attachments I have now)!!!

I have had this vac for a few weeks and I am impressed with it so far. It's pretty cheap compared to the other ones I have seen. I have been using it to vacuum out my car and its been pretty effective. easy to move around because of the wheels, good power so it actually picks up the small pieces of trash, the extensions really help. 

Basically it does what you need it to do and it doesn't cost as much as others in the market. Also, a reliable name. Worthwhile buy.

No Complaints

I have owned all of the top brands, last two were Craftsman. Other than the hose length and size this one has them all beat! Literally sucked the carpet off the floor while cleaning along the baseboards! The price and power cannot be beat, worth $150.00.
