These are much better quality than similar, cheaper bookends. They look pretty convincingly like carved stone (this coming from a geologist) and have a good weight to them. My husband has them in his office holding up heavy textbooks and says they do the job well.
I bought the cheaper bookends from another seller and they arrived in a million pieces. And no wonder; they were hollow, very lightweight, and brittle. They would not have done the job well even if they hadn't come broken. No doubt they would have slipped and crashed off the bookshelves (and broken) the first time the books tipped over. I'm glad I sprung for the more expensive bookends this time.
