I did called Encore company phone 1-800 number on the back of a bucket, and company personnel confirmed the white bucket is food grade and safe for food and gardening(which I am doing).

No, this product is not designed for food storage.

The bucket may have a sticker on it stating that it is food grade or food safe.  In my case, I purchased these buckets and all were food safe.

No. You have to buy a lid separately and it is about $1.50 I believe when I went in yesterday.

Really great product. Holding up really well and has been used for washing vehicles. Used on a remodel job for carrying tools and tile pieces which were very heavy. We would recommend it for any job.

I bought 2 of these to catch the water dripping under my sink. Both had huge cracks in them after less than a month of use!! Now the 100 year old wood under my sink has irreparable damage and my landlord will probably take that out of my security deposit. Very dissappointed in this product especially given the price :(
