Died just after one year of use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I baby all of my possessions, electronic or not, so this is pretty disappointing. Has been on its last legs fritzing out for several weeks now, it just glitches and freezes while streaming Netflix, and goes into a random color screen of death. Pretty disappointing for a device that just about a year old that costs $70.00 to break down for no apparent reason, rhyme or reason. My cheaper, basic, first generation Chromecast is still going strong in the bathroom TV. As a longtime first adopter of Google products, with like five Google assistants all over the house, and other Chromecast devices, and better tester of software, this isn't the norm for their products, but, Google, you gonna stand behind your products and replace this thing for me?

Posted .Hi PompousHero,
Thanks for your valuable feedback on Chromecast Ultra. We’re sorry to hear you’re having this issue. A disappointing experience is definitely not what we want you to have with our products.
If you’re encountering performance and quality issues when trying to cast content, please try the following:
- Toggle Wi-Fi off/on your phone.
- Exit any battery-draining applications that are running on the background.
- Turn off power saving mode on your device.
- Decrease the distance between the TV, your casting device (phone/tablet/computer), and the Wi-Fi router. The distance should be less than 15-20 feet (5-6 meters) apart, ideally within the same room.
- Keep your phone’s operating system up to date.
- Unplug both the Chromecast Ultra and the router from the power outlet and leave it unplugged for at least 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, plug it back in, and wait for it to completely reboot.
If the steps above don't help out with the problem, please feel free to get in touch with our specialists here: https://support.google.com/chromecast/contactflow

Chromecast 4k
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the 1st and 2nd release chromecast but that near $70 was outrageous. The price went on sale and I got one. It works the same as the others, cell, tablet, pc will recognize it. Watch youtube, select tv input to the hdmi you plugged the chromecast into, stream it to the chromecast. If your tv is 4k capable and your video transmits to you in 4k, its outstanding. I have no jitter or pauses. If you dont have a 4k tv, this is overkill and the cheaper previous HD version is perfect. You cant send itunes to it. And Amazon requires firestick. So google and youtube, plus any .avi or .mp4 movies you have on your device will stream. On my pc I find that using VLC media player app I can select playback at the top of the app, then renderer and it will see my chromecast. I also have the previous version plugged into my amp, so I can get stereo. There are just too few 4k videos to get too excited over this- or the 4k tv either. But it works great, easy set up and usage.

Q: QuestionWhat is the different between the new one and the previous one ?
Asked by Maz.
- A:Answer The previous one doesn't support 4K and UHD. It would only go upto 1080P. The Ultra is going to be a lot faster, processing-wise and streaming-wise. Another huge difference is the price. The previous one costs only $35 and the Ultra is double the price. If you have a 4K TV and got a lot of 4K content to watch, I'd recommend you go with the Ultra. But if not, then go with the regular $35 chromecast, which pretty much does the same job.

Q: QuestionWill this stream live TV to my non smart TV, and do I have to use my cell phone as a remote?
Asked by Lefty.
- A:Answer You can use any Android or iOS smartphone and/or tablet. You download the Google Home app to make everything work. As for what you can stream, that depends. First, your TV doesn't have to be Smart, but it must have a HDMI input. Next, whatever you want to "cast" to your tv must have that option available within the app. Apps such as Hulu, Netflix, NHL Center Ice, You Tube, etc, all have a cast option. You simply start watching on your phone, then hit the cast icon and boom, it is on your tv. Your phone/tablet screen can power off and the picture will still cast to your TV. You can even multitask and use your phone/tablet for other things while watching TV. Pretty cool stuff.
