More Hagfish, Sir?

More Hagfish, Sir?
A couple of hours in and so far I am fairly impressed with what I have seen. Like it's predecessor it has a certain clunkiness to it, especially noticeable after coming off the liquid smooth Titanfall 2 campaign, but nothing too bad. The repetitious dialogue from NPCs is back, so if you miss constantly hearing about the soldiers wondering whether they should gather for whisky and cigars tonight, then you're in luck :) The game has a 9GB day one patch, but that didn't stop a few issues of textures popping, light bleeding through internal spaces and the odd soldier being stuck in a staircase....which annoyingly meant I couldn't choke out everyone on the first level. Despite all this, I am enjoying what I have played so far. The ability to quick save/load, is a nice addition, especially for those of us going for ghost/low chaos runs*. Also, the option to play as either Corvo or Emily gives the game some extra re-playability, as both have different skillsets and abilities. On this run I am playing through as Emily and, no spoilers, her abilities are pretty sweet. In summary, if you liked DS1, you'll love DS2. You don't need to have played DS1 to be able to play DS2. There is plenty of lore scattered about to build up what happened previously, and who everyone is. Edit: I had to return my copy of the game as it kept crashing at a certain point. Not sure if it's an issue with the disc or the game (maybe a corrupted save). On the whole, and I know our PC brothers are having issues, this game is pretty glitchy. I had several game crashing events before I kept hitting the game breaking moment. I assume Bethesda forced Arkane to release before they were ready, if not then Arkane need to up their QA game. I still maintain this is a fantastic game, and given how things end up (finished the game on Xbox), I would welcome a third instalment. Just stop people being able to see me through walls, and that would be fantastic. p.s Amazon are terrible with pre-orders it seems. First time I have used them, and they missed the 10th. *Although the stealth system sometimes is a bit weird, for example check the pic and tell me why I didn't get full stealth on the little graph?

What a fantastic game, the level design is just brilliant, mixing stealth and all out mayhem with your supernatural powers. Graphically stunning with great background music. For the missions you can choose between Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano and each has different powers and weapons that make the levels replayable. This time round instead of a grimey Dunwall the action is on a beautiful island called Karnaca, 15 years on from the first game and where Corvo hails from. 40GB game with a 9GB v1.01 update file to install and you get the Imperial Assassins Pack DLC.

Corvo has his usual powers of blink for teleporting round short distances, dark vision for spotting enemies through walls, consuming swarm for attacking enemies with rats (my favourite) and possession. Emily has amazing new powers like Far Reach and Domino where she can select multiple targets and dispatch them with the same attack, Shadow Walk which looks like something from Prey, where she becomes a nebulous shadow hound, just looks awesome. The movement is fluid with no lag even when attacking several enemies. For upgrading your character its the usual business of equipping the heart for finding hidden runes and bone charms which unlock your upgrades and powers, the game doesn't reward you for killing enemies directly like in Skyrim for example.

The incidental detail is fantastic, the way mechanical clocks spin round to chunky safes and the posters you can read to dust motes spiralling through the air. Characters like the tattooed woman in Karnaca by the black market you can zoom in with your spyglass and read the wording! Blood fly nests can be set aflame using flammable bottles or incendiary bolts and the crossbow is ace, upgrades to it look great unlike the puny crossbow in Witcher 3 which I found underwhelming. Blue prints are scattered throughout levels and taken to a black market vendor can be used for the upgrades.

Lovely humour in the clockwork mansion mission where you overhear some burglars discussing how to break into the black market shop, buy everything you want, then return by blowing a hole in the rear wall and steal the rest. Anton Sokolov makes an early return from Dishonored in the initial missions where you are tasked with killing Kirin Jindosh, the mad creator of the clockwork mansion. Robots can be rewired to attack your enemies which is very cool. As usual Arkane Studios have done a fantastic job with their intricate level design, and its worth exploring thoroughly to pick up goodies.

Just an amazing game, mixes stealth and full on assault brilliantly in awesome unique levels, lots of violence and dismemberment though so not suitable for young children, Arkane Studios have improved on Dishonored. The 7th mission Crack in the Slab is AMAZING, just mind blowing time travelling, so far the mansion is tri-state! Clockwork Mansion + Crack in the Slab = GOTY.

A game easily in my top ten games of the year, play your way as you wander through a world of magic and industry merging to create a unique visual style, be the assassin of your dreams with supernatural powers and stealth takedowns or be like a ghost never seen as you traverse the world or somewhere in-between as I was.
You can play as two characters the young empress Emily or the legendary protector Corvo who was the main character of the first one. each has unique abilities and different dialogue. Recommend playing the first game which is now on the PS4 which also comes with all the DLC.
Great detail has gone into the world building in this game with rich vibrant cities, filled with hidden areas, side quests, Lore is abundant in this game.
Complete missions in a variety of different ways the choice is yours as you take down your enemies on a quest to retake what was taken from you will you be merciful and devise clever ways to remove your opponents from the board or will you seek full revenge & show no mercy as you dispatch your foes with deadly force.
The gameplay is fluid easy to pick up but hard to master, The story is pretty much similar to the first game but improved upon learning from some of the previous titles mistakes and the areas of the game are much bigger & more diverse.

This can be quite a gory game as you play the choices you make to kill or not affect the chaos level the more chaos the more the world takes a darker tone like the previous game there is a seriously dark ending and a not so dark ending so the replay ability of this game is on a good level first by the two character choice, second by the evil and not so evil play style.

Definitely worth picking up a solid story, great fluid gameplay, a beautifully crafted world Thanks for reading

Dishonoured 2 is set in a beautiful, steam-punk game world, populated with well-rounded characters and challenging AI.

Play as either the empress Emily, or her bodyguard, and choose abilities that suit your play style. Will you opt for "low chaos" and stealth, slipping past guards like a shadow, or will you opt for "high chaos", and slaughter your enemies indiscriminately. Combine your powers in innovative and creative ways to find your own solutions to problems.

Lots of games claim to allow multiple ways to navigate situations, but Dishonoured 2 genuinely achieves this. Having played for about 6 hours, I already have plans for my second (and third) play-through.

The AI (I'm playing on 'medium' difficulty) is adequately challenging. There aren't a very large number of enemy character models (possibly half a dozen), but this doesn't matter - enemies will spot you more easily than in other games, and ruin your attempts to slip past them, forcing you to improvise using the wealth of abilities at your disposal.

A genuinely different style of game. Unlike other stealth games (Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, etc.), this doesn't feel even remotely formulaic or repetitive.
