Apple has retained its title of innovator extraordinaire by introducing the Touch Bar to the keyboard of the MacBook Pro. This multi-touch–enabled strip of glass allows you to instantly access the tools you want, so you can quickly control volume, access apps and browse through content. This new version also comes with Touch ID, enabling instant access to logins and fast, secure online purchases with Apple Pay. Plus, it’s faster and more powerful than previous models, yet 17% thinner and significantly lighter.

Simple touch

• The Touch Bar replaces the function keys that have long occupied the top of the keyboard with something much more versatile and capable. It changes automatically based on what you’re doing to show you relevant tools you already know how to use — system controls like volume and brightness, interactive ways to adjust or browse through content, intelligent typing features like emoji and predictive text, and more.
• The Touch ID gives you the option to make secure online payments using Apple Pay, as well as quick access to system settings and locked notes. You can also switch between users with a touch of a finger, making it ideal for sharing.

Retina display
The new display in the MacBook Pro is the best ever in a Mac notebook. It features brighter LED backlighting and an increased contrast ratio, delivering deeper blacks and brighter whites. Its larger pixel aperture and variable refresh rate make it more power efficient than previous generations. And it’s the first Mac notebook to support wide colour, for even more vibrant greens and reds. This ensures truer-to-life pictures with realistically vivid details, essential for graphic design, colour grading and editing.

Smart processor
The 6th-generation Intel Core processor provides incredible power to deliver amazing performance, allowing you to multi-task, enjoy gaming and work on intensive projects, like rendering 3D models and encoding video, without experiencing any lag. When you’re working on lighter tasks, like browsing the web or checking emails, it’ll conserve energy to ensure it runs as efficiently as possible.

Improved audio
Apple has redesigned the speakers to provide twice the dynamic range and up to 58 per cent more volume, with 2 and a half times louder bass for maximum boom. And these beauties are connected directly to system power to allow for up to 3 times more peak power.

Updated keyboard and trackpad
Typing is more precise and comfortable with Apple’s new, second-generation butterfly mechanism. The Forch Touch trackpad has increased to give your fingers more room to manoeuvre for improved clicking and scrolling.
