Great external drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was great value for money. I needed to upgrade my external drive and this fit the bill perfectly. My only suggestion to anyone purchasing is to consider partitioning the drive before they start using. It seems to work much quicker.

Great HD for storage or using as a DVR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This hard drive is quiet and very fast when pluged up to a usb3.0 port. I have 2TB of tv & movies on it now and a lot of music. The price was great and so easy to use after it's set up. Almost wish i'd have bought 2 of them

Very good hard drive with lots of storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In general I'm a novice at computing but I bought this wanting another storage option for all my music, photos and movie files. After plugging this into my computer and installing the appropriate software I easily partitioned this drive into 3 separate drives, 2 of them being a single terabyte which music goes on one, photos the other. The 3rd partition which is the remainder of the available drive space will be for movies. Everything went smooth and so far I'm having no problems transferring files. Very pleased with this drive.

Relatively Large & inexpensive; USB 3.0 only.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: A simple external backup drive with more room than MANY users are likely to need (4 TB). Preference items: Uses a horizontal format: stable, but takes up more desk surface than a vertical format. (This one sits next to CPU Tower - Off Floor, but not on desk top.) Lacks the "% Full" LEDS our 2 TB unit, but that always seemed more gimmick than useful. Potential Con: USB 3.0 interface only. Backwards compatible to USB 2 of course, but a) not as fast as 3.1 (assuming your system has one!); and b) a Firewire port might be nice if your system has one of those & is short on USB ports. Disappointing (more-or-less - as this was expected): Don't care for the included Seagate BU Software. YMMV, & 3rd Party programs are readily available at prices ranging from Free to $$$. Still, had slight hope for improvement.

Overall good with one limitation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drive does exactly how its described. Its silent and non-intrusive. The LED is small and white and goes off when the PC is turned off. I did not miss the USB hubs that the big brother of this model has. But I would prefer the smaller USB 3 models that do not use external power and take away that limited power ports from my power strip. I haven't tried this HDD as a network storage, but this could be an excellent candidate your router USB port with network storage capabilities.

Works great with Linux
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plug and play with Linux. I'm currently using Fedora 26 and it auto-mounts the disk when you plug it into USB. No Linux specific backup program, but you don't need one; Linux includes plenty of standard free backup options!

Great addition for my personal cloud
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this as an extension to my seagate personal cloud. It works great. It's pretty straightforward. Keep in mind, this isn't portable so it requires to be plugged into a power outlet. It's fast and reliable. Good value.

Fast and easy setup.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to set up. The included software was nice but I formatted the drive and after using it to transfer some other big files around it's still working well. Very quiet and will buy again if it goes on sale.
