Each album will be available individually, and accompanied by a stunning, elegantly designed 252-page hardbound book in a lavish boxed edition which is limited to 50,000 copies worldwide. The book, exclusive to the boxed edition, is authored by award-winning radio producer Kevin Howlett and features a dedicated chapter for each of the albums, as well as insight into the creation of the remasters and how the vinyl albums were prepared. The 12&quot;x12&quot; book showcases a wealth of photographs spanning The Beatles' recording career, including many images which were not included in the 2009 CD booklets. The titles include The Beatles' 12 original UK albums, first released between 1963 and 1970, the US-originated Magical Mystery Tour, now part of the group's core catalogue, and Past Masters, Volumes One &amp; Two, featuring non-album A-sides and B-sides, EP tracks and rarities. With this release, The Beatles' first four albums make their North American stereo vinyl debuts. In 2013, the remastered albums will make their mono vinyl debuts. Since it was recorded, The Beatles' music has been heard on a variety of formats - from chunky reel-to-reel tapes and eight-track cartridges to invisible computer files. But there has never been a more romantic or thrilling medium for music than a longplaying twelve-inch disc. We 'play' records. The process of carefully slipping the disc out of the sleeve, cleaning it and lowering the stylus provides a personal involvement in the reproduction of the music. When The Beatles' albums were first released, the listener enjoyed a tangible relationship with the music in the grooves of a record. There was an emotional connection to the artifact carrying the sound, and this bond was strengthened by the LP sleeve. Rather than a merely functional object to protect the disc, it was elevated to a stylish accessory. Certainly, the cover of a Beatles album conveyed a message about the music it was wrapped around. For example, the dominant orange and brown hues and elongated faces on the front of Rubber Soul seem to embody the sound of the record. With the advent of the cassette tape in the seventies and the compact disc in the 1980s, album artwork was reduced in size and importance, losing much of its charm. That is partly why vinyl LPs have not, as predicted, been discarded. None of that would really matter, were it not for the enduring power of The Beatles music. In September, 2009, The Beatles' remastered albums on CD graced charts around the world. Seventeen million album sales within seven months was resounding evidence of the timeless relevance of their legacy. Through five decades, the music of The Beatles has captivated generation upon generation.

This is absolutely the vinyl LP version of the Beatles collection. I'm listening to mine as I type this! :)

A CD was used to create the recordings onto the vinyl records. And yes, these are the full sized vinyl records one would use on a record player. The entire set weighs between 15-20 pounds. Heavy!. Hope the info helps....

Yes, it is the vinyl set. I believe the CD reference pertains to the fact that the mastering of this vinyl set utilized the same process & technology used for the 2009 CD remasters. In fact, it say as much on the back of the slipcase on the box.

I have been waiting for the Beatles album collection to be released on vinyl for years. This collection does not disappoint. The accompanying book complements the LPs perfectly. Even if you do not have a state of the art stereo system, I myself have a Crosley table top system, this is still worth purchasing if you are a die hard vinyl fan like myself. The music has never sounded better. Now I no longer have to listen to my old crackly scratched up Beatles LPs.

This Beatles vinyl box set is priced well below any of the other dealers I researched. The product was delivered in a timely manner after I ordered it online, so I was able to play the records during our holiday parties.

Remember the days when vinyl records were the norm? When a record player and a radio were all one had to enjoy music? Music stores filled with shelves of records? Those days are long gone and replaced by CD's, MP3 players, and online music.... But, if you want to get back to those roots and listen to music the way they did in the golden days, then this is it! I actually bought this item for my daughter who had never heard the Beatles on vinyl. She truly was missing out. As an avid Beatles fan myself, I felt compelled to purchase this item along with a record player in order to pass on a part of music history to my daughter, who, subsequently, had become an avid Beatles fan herself. Listening to The Beatles on vinyl gave her a whole new musical listening experience! Just as when tapes, CD's, and MP3 players did when they were introduced to the markets. Yes, vinyl recordings are not as crisp and clear as the newer technological items, and yes, they are more fragile and one must be careful not to scratch them. But to pull those records out of their jackets, while looking at a remake of what came out in the 60's and 70's! PRICELESS! It was a bit pricey at just over 320 dollars, but worth it for what you receive. It's a VERY nice collection to have, and we will be listening to these records for years to come.

The Stereo set is digital music cut onto vinyl and has little to nothing in common with original format "records". The newly released "mono" recordings (which WM sells too) were remastered from original tapes on analogue equipment, not digital. The sound is not only better it is much closer to the original intent of the Beatles in the 1960's-70's. The mono set was produced due to serious complaints from industry giants (in the music biz) regarding the poor decision and poor sound of the Stereo set that had been no more than a CD in vinyl form. If you want to really hear the Beatles as intended buy the 2014 released mono version.
