About

With his ever-youthful voice, it’s hard to believe that legendary singer Johnny Mathis has been wowing audiences for over half a century—and he’s still going strong. That unmistakable voice—both fragile and powerful—singing timeless classics like “Chances Are,” “Misty,” “Brazil,” “It’s Not For Me to Say” “A Certain Smile” “My Funny Valentine” and “Twelfth of Never” never ceases to mesmerize listeners into a wistful trance. Anyone who has been lucky enough to get tickets to witness Johnny Mathis perform LIVE knows that he was born to be on stage with a microphone in hand, an orchestra at his back, and a rapt crowd before him. Be it a love ballad, swing tune, or a Latin-flavored number, Johnny executes each phrase with that characteristic panache possessed by crooners of a by-gone era when singers didn’t have (nor need!) the help of viral YouTube videos to capture the hearts of fans worldwide. Needless to say, serious fans of nostalgic music (also sung by the likes of Michael Bublé, Harry Connick Jr. and Tony Bennett) who score Johnny Mathis tickets are always in for a “Wonderful! Wonderful!” time.

    Johnny was "Wonderful Wonderful."

by Helen on 4/17/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

It was Johnny Mathis--what else is there to say. Shut your eyes and it's Johnny from 60 years ago. A terrific concert. The actual venue not so much. Medford hard to get to, very old building, wooden seats uncomfortable, 4 flights of stairs to the balcony, I would not go there again.

    Still Velvet

by Di on 4/17/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

I didn’t know what to expect when I heard that Johnny was 88. But that silken voice is still there as is his gentle, likable personality. Kudos to him – he obviously loves performing, and we love listening to him — a reminder of our long ago youth.

    The Voice of Romance

by Sueps on 4/17/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Johnny Mathis is a true American Legend. I urge everyone to see him at least once. Our family have been fans since the 1950's. We have traveled over 150 miles to see him on some occasions. Unfortunately Johnny is getting older. Every concert is a gift. Johnny Mathis is a blessing to us all! We will continue to follow Johnny up and down the East Coast until we can't anymore. LOVE YOU JOHNNY!! Thank you for all of your amazing music and dedication to your craft and your fans.

    Wonderful performance by Johnny!

    by pjboston on 4/16/24

Johnny's performance was awesome! There were times when his singing was so mesmerizing, you could hear a pin drop. I was so grateful to be with such a respectful audience, where nobody was whispering or singing along. Growing up with my mom playing Johnny Mathis albums is such a great memory, and this was our first time seeing him in person. It was such a special night that we'll never forget. It was like a trip back in time. The comedian Brad Upton was very funny, and his humor really hit the right spot with this audience. It was also nice to have a few laughs, after feeling the emotion of some of the music. One of the best shows I've been to. As for the theater, it's getting very frustrating to see shows here. The seats are very tight, there is no parking nearby, and it's very difficult for those who have trouble walking. It's impossible for me to take my mom to a show by myself, because I can't drop her at the curb, and she can't walk from a parking spot that far away. We had to get a ride, and then wait over 45 minutes for an elevator that barely seems to work, and only took a small handful of passengers every other stop at the ground level due to people getting on at the lobby level. Almost didn't make it in time for the show. Apparently it's necessary to be an hour early to have time to wait for the elevator. Also had elderly and disabled people waiting outside in the cold wind all that time to get into the foyer for the elevator. The only bathroom is at lobby level, which also makes things difficult for those who can't do the stairs from the orchestra or balcony. It's great to have a theater in our community, but it's time to make a few updates to the building for comfort and safety.

The man is amazing. Still holding notes like when he was younger. He is in very good voice. He is fun to watch and hear since he loves what he is doing. So happy I was able to go and see and hear him.

"Chances Are"I'd go again... And again.

by Aidan K on 4/16/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Johnny Mathis is still unbelievable!! His sets are fairly short but his voice hasn't aged a bit. Brad Upton is also hilarious!! I'd love to see his Christmas tour come to Boston. I know it would be just as amazing!!

WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER VOICE LIKE THAT IN TIME.

by JJ on 4/16/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

No, he's not 19 or 30 or 50 or even 60 anymore...his voice has aged with time but you'll never hear a voice like his ever again. It's unique--not to be duplicated--will live on forever. I absolutely loved him at 88. Perfect gentleman; easy on the eyes still; just lovely.

You could close your eyes and listen to the same voice from 60 years ago. He is a gifted performer.
