Great Laptop for College Student
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previsouly had a Mac Book Pro in the past and it lasted me 9 years. I wanted to upgrade and then I saw the specs on this computer and I jumped at the chance to upgrade. I am very pleased with the new Mac Book Pro.
I would recommend this to a friend- Pros mentioned:Touch bar

Some Nice Features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are a few pros and cons: Pros Nice looking and lighter than the old MacBook Pro The touchbar is a unique feature Good RAM and HD space Cons Didn't see any better performance vs. MacBook Air The USB C ports are still not peripheral friendly Had to buy a dock adapter to use USB 3.0 and HDMI connections for devices and monitors Pricey, the jury is still out if it was worth it

Fantastic piece of art but bring your credit card
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful fast and great quality as expected with an apple product. It’s pricey and there may be some accessories you will need to purchase if you want to plug in a USB or external disc drive cause all that is not on these new MacBooks. You’ll adjust easy though and most everything is wireless these days anyway. Beautiful sound and epic display. I love the touch pad at top of computer. Watching Netflix or doing your job is a pleasure with this light weight compact but powerful little machine. If you have the extra funds it’s worth it for perfection.

Great everything laptop!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great machine and I really like the sleek design. It is smaller than my old MacBook pro and faster! I wish it came with USB adapters but that's Apple for you! The touch strip is cool but a touch screen would be better. All in all its a good investment and if you can get it on sale at Best Buy, even better!

Disappointing upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a MacBook Pro 13 inch (2013) 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 with 8GB of ram to this MacBook Pro 13inch (2017) 3.5GHz with 8GB of ram and found myself extremely disappointed. Good: The computer is much lighter than the previous model, the screen is beautiful and is far superior to my previous computer. The transfer of my old system to the new was seamless and outside of having to put my passwords in for my email and some other apps it was easy to upgrade. The track bar on the top is a cool addition and there are many ways you can customize it to work with your apps or computer using needs. Bad: While I truly wanted to love this new computer the list of bad things are pretty challenging. The computer uses USB-C and none of my drives or devices use this. The converters to this new technology are not super expensive, but it makes the process of hooking things up very silly. The battery claims to last 15 hours, but I felt like it is much much less than this to the point I felt like my old computer held a charge longer than this one. The charger extension cable does not come with the computer and was another thing I had to buy with the computer itself. While this is the same computer as before the new one with same amount of RAM and a faster chip is extremely slow and you cannot upgrade the RAM for the computer. I am not using GFX programs, but Google Chrome and Mac mail which are lagging and requiring me to restart my computer. I am so upset by all of these factors that I am going to return the computer and get the model prior to this. I am not sure if I got a lemon or what, but the time wasted on buying a new computer only to have to return it is more painful than a simple return or exchange. If I were you I would stay away from this specific make a model.

Actually Love the Small Screen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had 2 MBP's in t he past with the larger screen. I wanted something smaller and more portable, and this fits the bill. I usually use it hooked up to an an external monitor, so take that into account. Added benefit for those who wear bifocals: it works so well to fit in the "range" (you know what I mean if you wear them). I can power two monitors at the same time at work with no problems. But, beware, you will have to spend some extra $$ for adapters for the mini USB ports for you old usb "stuff".

Great laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using MacBook Pros for a while, and this one is a good middle-priced one. I wasn't sure at first about the Touch Bar, but it actually is a neat productivity feature. Fingerprint sensor ( which unlocks the screen without password ) is also nice. My only gripe is that sometimes I touch the touchbar accidentally when I type. This machine is fast, responsive and will last you at least 5+ years without feeling outdated. Great buy.

Q: QuestionCan the RAM be upgraded from 8GB to 16GB? Can the hard drive be upgraded from 512GB to 1TB?
Asked by Dave.
- A:Answer You cannot upgrade the ram on this unit, or so I was told by the GeekSquad. It appears that apple put the memory into the mother board directly. the HD I believe is different, but am not 100% sure.

Q: Questionwhat does open box mean when looking online to purchase? Is this a refurbished computer?
Asked by Gdaddy15.
- A:Answer Open box items are generally really good deals if you can have some patience and find ones that are well priced. I've gotten iPads and just recently got my MacBook Pro as an open box certified item. If it's certified, then it goes through a bit more of an extensive processes of making sure it's pretty much like new. I try to stick to excellent or excellent-certified open box items, but you can take your chances with good and fair conditions. I saved about $300 on the new MacBook Pro with a touch bar and extra memory. Apple warranty is still applicable for one year and decided to get apple care in case I have any issues within the next three years.

Q: QuestionI am considering going from a larger, mid-2014 MacBook Pro to this unit. I would sacrifice i7 for i5 and 16 gig for 8. The reason for doing so is to go to a smaller, lighter computer. Would this change be significant in terms of performance?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Unless you're a user who works with 3D rendering or extensive video editing, my bet is you won't really notice any difference between a 15" MacBook that's maxed out with the separate video card (I own one). Odd are you'll never notice the difference, expect you'll love the smaller and lighter profile.

Q: QuestionHello: This model still has the keybord problem regarding to dust and dirty and the keys stop working accordimg to so many users or the problem was already solved? Thanks
Asked by diherca.
- A:Answer Can 't say long term — only had the computer a few weeks — but no issues so far. They keys have a "different" feel from other keyboards I've used, but I've had no problem adjusting to it.

Q: QuestionDoes this macbook have a cd/ dvd player/ burner?
Asked by Edgex7.
- A:Answer MacBooks stopped adding CD/DVD drives years ago, and while I was of the camp that thought my life would come to an end without it, Apple changed my mind. While I have two Apple external CD/DVD drives, I rarely use them and my bet is that you'll find over a short period of time your need for DVD's will soon be a thing of the past. With my CD/DVD usage at around a dozen times a year, why carry around a thicker machine with a DVD player that just adds weight, but that's used rarely. With this MacBook Pro model, you'll enjoy the portability yet full featured computing capabilities that'll make you forget quickly why we ever used CD's in the first place. And yes, I'm still surprised over my lack of actually needing an option that isn't worth the hassle.
