Work and Play Beside the Thames
At the meeting point of the Thames and Kennet rivers, affluent Reading is close to London, yet far enough to feel completely different. For this reason it is an important business hub, particularly for IT. The M4 motorway runs directly from here to Heathrow Airport, and trains from its station terminate at Paddington.
The town has literary connections to Jane Austen – whose school was in the Abbey Gateway – and Oscar Wilde, who was imprisoned in its jail. Nowadays, the Reading Festival is its biggest cultural event and has earned a place in the town hall museum. However, its most impressive exhibit is a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry.
The Reading shopping options include Broad Street and The Oracle, a riverside complex also housing bars, cinemas and restaurants. The river continues south to one of the town’s green spaces, some housing golf courses. Forbury Gardens features a bandstand and large lion statue, and next door are ruins of an abbey founded by Henry I.
Potential day trips include the Roman remains at Silchester, and river cruises to Henley-on-Thames, while sport lovers should visit the Madejski Stadium, home of Reading FC and London Irish rugby club.
Booking.com’s Reading accommodation includes hotels with spas, cheap apartments and guest houses with parking.

In the evening we went to the slug and lettuce for pornstar martinis. There is a cinema and other attractions close by and it was amazing walking down by the river.

The town and the major roads into it are extremely busy. Lots of traffic lights and some complex junctions and lane changing. We did not stop in the town centre because that was not the object of our visit. The golf course looked tempting but that will have to wait for another time.

I am familiar with Reading, but, for those not so familiar, the area can be a little noisy, to be expected, given the central location. Everything is on your doorstep. Shops, clubs, etc. Never lack of anything to do, places to check out, shops, etc. Eateries to suit all tastes and budgets!

We had an excellent meal at "Veeno's" near The Forbury which serves fabulous authentic Italian food and the atmosphere is unbeatable.
The evening was completed with a visit to "High Spirits" in Kings Walk. It serves the most wonderful and imaginative cocktails in the whole of Reading. The staff are very knowledgeable and personable and service is swift and courteous. Highly recommended.

It’s difficult to walk into twin from the hotel.
It’s difficult to walk into twin from the hotel. Easier to drive or taxi. River walk is pleasant.
I would not walk outside late at night especially if in your own as it’s not the best area.
Shop centre has high end stores and better vfm is on Broad street.
Plenty of places to dine .
Bracknell which is a 25 minute drive away has a very pleasant shopping centre also.
Reading is well located for visiting attractions in all directions within a radius of 30 miles.
Despite the confirmation I have, and even my card information being available the hotel canceled my booking.
Further, When I ask they reply that they are overbooked and who was coming first they give him the room .
My advice to the traveler's please do not trust what so-called pay at the property!!! It's an unethical business process.
THEY SPOILED ALL MY WORK PLANS FOR THE NEXT DAY. I choose the location in propose this people do not understand people travel to do their work!!!!
Great Location! This place is right on the main street in the town centre, so it's super easy to go shopping and find places to eat. It's only a 5-minute walk from the train station. The room was really clean and had everything we needed. The host always replied quickly when we messaged them. There's no lift, but that wasn't a problem for us because we didn't have much luggage. We highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again when we come back to Reading!
Great location, ( if you are without a car, there is a bus stop opposite to the hotel -which gets you back to Reading centre, plenty of choices of rooms there, the room I stayed in was simple yet had everything I needed, tv, kettle and also other items - such as a microwave and mini fridge. For a one night stay I was very impressed and satisfied with my stay there. Very helpful staff, I would stay here again and recommend it to others.
The location was where we wanted to be which was close to the twon centre. The hotel is easy to find and has plenty of parking. Our room was comfortable and not cramped. The bed standard meant that we slept well. We paid for breakfast and had a good traditional cooked meal. There were alternatives. When we go to Reading and want to stay in a hotel, we will use this one.
Incredibly friendly & welcoming reception staff- hotel is located in centre of Reading above a large bar/ restaurant which wouldn't usually be my ideal however I was on second floor at rear & had very peaceful stay- it was Friday night so was bit concerned but no worries there. Tastefully decorated & very well fitted out accommodation, everything I could hope for.
Great location close to both Bracknell and Reading Town centre.
Good facilities, my partner enjoyed the gym and said the equipment was good and the gym wasn’t very busy. The pool was nice a decent size and had plenty of chairs and day beds for guests.
The hotel itself was very clean and looked new or refurbished. All in all a good stay.
Location of this hotel was within 5 minutes walking distance from the main Reading railway and Bus station. The heart of the town centre was only 2 or 3 minutes walking distance away.
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom appeared to have had some recent refurbishment carried out.
Breakfast was adequate for a 4 star hotel.
Hotel very convenient to Reading town centre, plenty of parking, staff very friendly and helpful and ordered us a taxi when we were struggling with Uber! Main stairwell/corridors very clean and new looking carpets. Loved the fact individual rooms each had a fridge/microwave - very useful for storing snacks/drinks.
The hotel is bright and airy and very clean.
Communal areas are good.
Accessible bedrooms are good although the shower is very utilitarian. The issue is the bedrooms have a very cold feel. For too much open space.
Breakfast is very good. Grapefruit juice without asking! First class.
The Roseate is in a great location, close to the town centre shops and restaurants. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast options at the hotel are brilliant. This is our second stay at the Roseate and we'll definitely be returning next time we are in Reading.
This is your typical B&B, with small functional rooms, a reasonable breakfast and located about a ten minute walk from central Reading. A major benefit is free onsite parking, making it an inexpensive place to stay for those with a car.
Room was spacious and well lit. the AC worked great. the bathroom was clean and well equipped.
The hotel is a short 4 minute walk from Reading station.
