This is my first GPS watch and I love it. I cycle, mountain bike, do stairs, trail runs, hikes, walk/jog with my dog, OCR(Obstacle Course Racing) events, strength training, constantly on my feet at work,etc... and I can record it all and customize what I want recorded and displayed for each activity. The display on the watch is great. I can see the data easy as I'm in bright sunlight with my shades on or in lowlight setting like the shade. I can also choose to illuminate the display with the simple push of a button. The watch in my opinion is fairly easy to program and customize. I wear it to work daily. At first while wearing it to work I didn't want it getting scratched up because I use my hands a lot and bump into a lot of metal objects doing so. I initially covered it up, but after about a week I stopped covering it and noticed it was not getting scratched up despite constantly bumping it into many different objects. I haven't had a chance to go swimming with it yet, but I did get a chance to do a water obstacle and it came out as if I had never touched any water. I originally was going to get the Vivoactive HR, because I didn't want to pay so much for a watch. But after reading many reviews and learning about the features this was a better watch for me and it was on sale for Black Friday. I was always worried about doing new trails and getting lost, but the watch has a back track feature to guide you back. Don't get me wrong, it's not like looking at an actual GPS screen on the phone and seeing street names and the such but it is functional. I also didn't want to get a watch where it only lasted 5 or so hours while using the GPS function. I haven't went on a long trek yet to test it out but I hear it can get up to 20 hours. It is a great watch.

I had the Garmin 920xt multi sport watch before I purchased this Garmin Fenix 3HR. The two watches are very similar as far as the features and info they provide but don't take my word for it , do a comparison on the Garmin web site. The Fenix 3HR is a llittle heavier and bigger than the 920xt but it's such a durable watch it is worth the weigh. I have always loved the looks of the Fenix watch series so I purchased it. I really love not having to wear a chest strap just to get my heart rate and all the stats that go with it. I purchased a red band for it time give it a different look.

Let me start by saying I am not a world class triathlete or anything. I'm a recovering carb-aholic who is trying at 53 to lose a bunch of weight and get back in some shape. I am also a techie with a love for gadgets. I was looking for a smart watch that would give me some fitness information and fulfill what I wanted in a smart watch like notifications and text messages. I also don't like square watches and wanted it to be water resistant because I'm also not a diver and don't need something that's water proof. I also wanted it to have a battery that didn't need to be charged every four hours. This watch does all that and much more. I'll be honest, I will never use all the stuff this watch will do and you might settle for something that will meet your needs for far less money but nothing I found satisfied all my wants and it gives me heart rate monitoring, which I wasn't really looking for but I really like. The heart rate monitor enables me to push myself harder. The watch is very stylish and adaptable and I feel, it's quite attractive. I can go four days on a single charge and that's using it with the gps every day on my walks and all night using the sleep monitor (something else I didn't care about at the time of purchase but found quite enlightening). It will also help me find my phone, gives me weather alerts, texts, calendar alerts, and a bunch of free watch face options. As far as activities it will track running, walking, swimming, biking, treadmills, and much more. I can't go into all that this watch will do but if you read any of the reviews you can see for yourself. I really could not be happier with my purchase!

I watched tons of reviews and un-boxing videos for the Fenix 3 HR prior to finally making my purchase. I have to say it has turned out to be everything I wanted and more! I love the functionality of it, the Garmin Connect app is great, and it just looks great!
Pros:
- Surprisingly lightweight
- Sunlight Readable display
- Long battery life (I get about 7 days on avg with 1-2 hr workouts at least 3 times a week, I've also enabled gesture back-lighting so it lights up when I check the time, and I increased the brightness from 20% to 40%)
- Custom watch faces
- Custom workout app displayed content
- Can create new workout app profiles right on the watch
- Highly scratch resistant sapphire dome lens
- Very accurate heart-rate monitoring right on your wrist 24/7
- Smartphone notifications
- Silent alarm
- Music controls
Cons:
- Does not come with the metal watch band like the Fenix 3 Sapphire did despite costing more, but the silicone band is very comfortable
- Though it has some internal storage it's minuscule and it would be nice to be able to add some more content, possibly music files to the watch. As it has standalone GPS & GLONASS you could hit the trail for a hike, run, or biking without needing your phone listening to your music when paired to a Bluetooth headset for instance.
- Also I'd like the ability to discern which notifications I'm seeing as emails and texts tend to have the same icon, it can get a little confusing at times. You can enable/disable specific notification times however, as I've simply chosen to disable emails because I get a ton and enable only incoming / missed calls, texts, and reminders.

Although on the pricey side. It is best watch that I bought compared over the Apple Watch. Does everything that I need it to do plus more. The only thing I wished it did while tracking your activity is tell the time also. But other than that, it is overall the best watch that I've purchase to date!

The watch is big. Menu is black and white. Has a lot of features but the design is not fancy. This watch is mostly wearable only with sport clothes.

Would be a perfect watch if the bezel lasts

Have had this watch for about three weeks now and I am quite satisfied with it. I do notice two issues though
1) the bezel coat can easily come off. I wear it 7X24 since I bought it and this morning I noticed the bezel coat came off. After looked it up on internet I found out this is quite a common issue of this watch. I hope they can release a titanium version sometime this year.
2) the sleep tracking is not very accurate. Sometimes I see a time shift on my Garmin Connect and sometimes it doesn't even track my sleep by just showing me a preset value.
I cannot say I am 100% safisfied with this watch, but I also cannot deny the fact that this watch is by far the best on the market.

Let me start by saying this Watch is BIG!!!! I am a petite woman, and it does look big on me, but I really don't mind. This watch is very Beautiful!!! I exercise a ton, run, walk, hike, lift weights, do exercise classes, bike.. I exercise about 20 times a week. I love having fast GPS, I love how easy it is to see the screen of the watch outside. I love getting notifications from my phone on my watch too!!! I sleep with the watch on, and love the vibration that wakes me up, and my husband appropriates it too, as I wake up way before him to start my day!! Give this watch a try, you will not be disappointed!!
A:Adam, thank you for your questions. The fēnix features a sapphire lens. If you have any additional question feel free to contact our support team (www.garmin.com/support). Best regards. ~QKO
A:I am a 5'3" woman, I love this watch. I exercise a ton, and wear this watch 24/7!!! I really only notice the watch if I don't have it on tight enough when running, So, when exercising I tighten it up one notch, and when not exercising I loosen it by one notch!!, I think you can't go wrong with all this watch can do, plus it is so durable and beautiful!!
A:The fēnix 3 HR has several added features above and beyond the built-in heart rate sensor. It also offers courses, Auto Lap, Auto Scroll, time/distance alerts, compatibility with power meters, and area calculation. The fēnix 3 HR also has some physical differences when compared to the Sapphire models. (E.g., the bands are made out of different material, battery life is different, weight, etc...)

A:Turning Off the Wrist Heart Rate Monitor
For the fēnix® 3 HR, the default value for the Wrist Heart Rate setting is Auto. The device automatically uses the wrist-based heart rate monitor unless you pair an ANT+® heart rate monitor to the device.
Hold UP.
Select Settings > Sensors > Wrist Heart Rate > Off.
A:Yes this has a move reminder, it will vibrate and also show a red bar on some screens to remind you. The longer you sit the longer it takes to clear the inactive red bar. This is a very nice feature.
A:You can’t read emails from this watch.
You can’t respond to emails.
You can answer your phone however you will have to talk on your phone.
This watch is really geared for really tracking activities.
