So far so good -- this smartphone that cost as much as my last laptop is sleek and fast and has already demonstrated better reception and better battery life than my Note3 (as it should). Before I go on, I do want to say that while all THREE customer service reps who helped me were lovely, polite, super helpful, and good looking, in the end I got a black phone, although I had many times emphasized that I wanted to purchase the grey version. We discussed unlocked and branded phones, cost, etc. I purchased the phone outright, and for a thousand dollars you'd think BestBuy could have sold me the correct color !! But I digress... this new phone will take some getting used to, as one would expect, but it has been a fairly smooth process so far. If you had an android phone already, it should be just the sort of intuitive but bumpy ride that all these toys put us through. If you're migrating from Apple or Windows, or it's your first smartphone, I can't say. The Edge business is aggravating IMO. I know some people think it looks smart, but I just find that it's harder to connect with keys and touch spots near the curvature of the screen. There are a bunch of options for the edge-y extras, so between that and the Stylus (which is what really makes this phone), those who like all sorts of complicated customizable extras should be happy. For the rest of us, it's nice that one can leave it all on default and things will go along nicely. I didn't use any special migrating apps, and they did not transfer my info. The phone came with a SIM card, so I didn't have to transfer my old one. I do plan to add a micro-SD -- CAREFULLY . That teeny little drawer that comes out of the top strikes me as all kinds of delicate and problematic. I liked it better on the old phones where one pops out the battery and there the cards are underneath. Much better! More durable. But hopefully one only accesses it rarely. There aren't many cases for this phone, which is a bummer. Currently I've got it in an overpriced leather case (Nomad), which I do not recommend, not because of the price, but because it doesn't close properly. But that's another review. The S-Pen doesn't just pull out like it did with my Note3, you have to push it and then it pops out. Likely that change occurred sometime during the interim generations. There are more options for use, as well -- that thing is wonderfully handy! Anyway, super expensive little toy, but so far it's gearing up to be quietly powerful, and I'm really looking forward to using it for a few years.

Its definatly alot faster and smother than my note5 could ever hope 2 b... but Im still exploring features n only just starting 2 play so I can give a more or less confident opinion at a latter date... I can absolutely say I am very happy with the deal I got from Best Buy! I looked for a deal with my Carrier and also other competing Carriers I, and most had deals on the note 8, becuase I loved my note5 so much I wouldn't upgrade 2 anything else but another galaxy Note... all the good carriers here had some good deals on the Note 8, but Best Buy gave me $300 off full price for a verizon Note 8 without requiring me change my'lite n managable 2g+ rollover plan from verizon instead of having to pay for un-needed data like Verizon, t mobile,n the rest wanted me 2 do five stars just for that,Bravo Best Buy!

The phone is pricy, and for 99.9% of users, it's probably overkill, but it's hands down the best Android phone on the market. The camera is fast and takes great low light pictures, it's responsive, has an incredible screen for viewing media, and the S Pen is helpful. The screen-off note feature is worth the bump in price from the S8+.
