The Roku Stick for Streaming is amazing!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Roku Stick. Affordable and does everything it is advertised to do. Has many features and I love the fact that I get emails showing hints and additional things this little item does. Not only is the price right but it is effortless to use and it has saved me a little more than $100/month by not having cable. Also, you can take it with you! Only very slight issue would be a little buffering but very slight... also stick gets very warm but not has super HOT as the Amazon Fire Stick I initially purchased. I returned it because it kept shutting my TV down and screen also went black and froze, and purchased the Roku Stick.

Nice product for streaming.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roku Stick has good speed when opening and closing apps. I use a TV streaming service and on another streaming device which buffers often. The Roku Stick streams the same service flawlessly.

The Roku is great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have one in my living room TV and bought this one for my son's room. These things work great. We can watch many programs and movies on youtube, Plex, Showtime, HBO, HULU, Netflix and I can stream things from my tablets and phones to the TV as well. It opens up so many more programs and things to watch. We can watch our shows and movies and we can find and stream programming for the kids as well when they want to watch something. I highly recommend the Roku.

More worthwhile apps than anybody else.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Roku is the king of streaming, with more worthwhile apps than anybody else. Its search runs circles around the competition, hitting most major services and presenting the results by price. And I like its interface better too, with its full customization giving the power to arrange the apps you want, where you want them.

Q: Questionexplain to me how this stick works, please.
Asked by samwilly.
- A:Answer The Roku stick plugs into the HDMI port of your television and connects via WiFi to your internet through your wireless network router, providing you with access to streaming content.
Answered by CommunityAnswer
Q: QuestionIf I was to purchase this, where do I go to find out what channels I can get for free?
Asked by Margaret.
- A:Answer Once you've powered up the device and connected to Wi-Fi, these will be located on the Roku Channel Store (the Streaming Channels category in the side bar). Under the Top Free category, some of them are: QVC, PBS, Crackle, YouTube, CBS News, to name a few. A great feature of this new Roku model is the ability to search for any movie or television show across multiple platforms such as FandangoNOW, Vudu, Hulu, Netflix, Googleplay. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionThe display shows it plugged into two places on the back of the tv. One is obviously the hdmi port, what is the other end plugged into?
Asked by Msdelta.
- A:Answer The USB connection provides power to the Roku Stick. If your TV does not have a USB connection, an AC plug in adapter is included.

Q: QuestionWhy do I need this device, if I have to subscribe to either cable, or netflix, or HBO go, or some other channel, and the free chanels, like youtube, I can already get on another device... for free?
Asked by ec.
- A:Answer There are many reasons to get a streaming device like the Roku. However, as is the case with most entertainment devices, the Roku isn't really necessary, but it is very convenient. One reason is simply to get your content on your big screen TV, wherever it may be in your home, instead of your tablet or computer. Another reason is user experience. Example: If I subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Video, and Hulu, I can search on the Roku home screen for a movie or show and the Roku will instantly bring up the show from whatever subscription service it is on. One more reason is TV compatibility. Lots of people still have TVs that don't connect to the internet, a Roku will get Netflix or Amazon Video onto your TV.

Q: QuestionHow is the 2016 better than previous roku streaming stick?
Asked by AMB.
- A:Answer The short answer is the CPU on this one is way more powerful than the original, so it's on-par with the Roku 4 in terms of performance. I haven't experienced any lag yet.

Q: Questionwhats the difference between roku and fire stick?
Asked by ken.
- A:Answer Other than the obvious, manufacturer. They are very similar but the Fire Stick offers a few more options than the Roku stick. I purchased both and felt that the Fire stick had a siperior user interface and was more aesthetically pleasing.

Q: QuestionWhat is the purpose of roku stick? How/what is it connected too?
Asked by Babs.
- A:Answer In simplistic terms, the ROKU allows one, with a HDMI ported TV, and wifi high speed internet service, to receive streamed (canned if you will) TV programming. Most major networks offer free programming of this nature. Some programming, e.g. HGTV, might charge for its programming.
